My 28 days at Abbington House have truly changed my life in ways I never thought were possible. Before arriving, I was overwhelmed with anxiety. I was scared of the unknown, scared of facing myself, and unsure if anything could really help me. I felt stuck, like there was no clear way out of the cycle I had been living in. Walking through those doors felt daunting—but it turned out to be the most important step I’ve ever taken. From the very beginning, the therapists at Abbington House made me feel safe, understood, and supported. Their compassion, patience, and genuine care created an environment where I could begin to open up honestly. They didn’t just treat my addiction—they helped me understand it, face it, and start healing from it. What made my experience even more powerful were the different therapies offered. Sound therapy brought a deep sense of calm I hadn’t felt in a long time. Breathing exercises helped me reconnect with my body and manage my anxiety in a way I never knew how to before. Art therapy gave me a way to express feelings I couldn’t put into words, helping me release and process emotions I had buried for so long. When I arrived, I couldn’t see a way out. I felt lost and hopeless. But over these 28 days, something shifted. I’ve found strength I didn’t know I had. I’ve started to rebuild my sense of self. And most importantly, I’ve found hope. Hope for my future. Hope for my healing. Hope that life can be different—and better. Abbington House hasn’t just helped me begin recovery; it’s given me a foundation to build a new life on. I will always be grateful for the care, the support, and the belief they had in me—even when I struggled to believe in myself.

This was my first time going private and can honestly say, that I wish the NHS had the means to provide the level of care and attention that I received during my stay. From the outset, the reception staff were extremely helpful, providing precise directions to my appointment. A welcomed first impression; being greeted with a smile and courteous manner. I didn't have to wait long, before being taken to my own onsuite room. Having your own bathroom takes all the stress away, as to whether or not someone else is waiting. Not having to cart toiletries back and forth also helped, as moving around post-op was difficult enough. It was the little things that made me smile like sky tv, a wardrobe with hangers, HEALTHY food and even milk alternatives. But I digress, as the main stars of the show, were the staff. From Support Services, Radiology, Anaesthetist, Healthcare Support Workers, Nurses, Doctors, to Medical Staff, all provided the level of care, courtesy and respect that made you feel at ease. Time, was the main aspect that I noticed; I never got the impression that staff didn't have the time to spend with me or answer any questions that I had. I had detailed instructions and discussions and never felt rushed or had to wait, after pressing the call button. I would highly recommend St Joseph’s Hospital and look forward to my next visit.

Mr Gurudatt Sisodia

My experience from start to finish was top notch. Mr Sisodia explained everything from the initial consultation, on the morning of the surgery and he even came to see how I was feeling in the recovery room. I had my follow up and was pleased to report the incision site had healed beautifully. There had never been any weeping wound, as all of the stitching was done from the inside, the scar will be minimal. My legs are now both the same length again. This has improved my posture, walking and I feel much more confident. My visit today was 5 weeks post surgery and due to how well I was doing he was able to discharge me. However, he did inform me of dislocation risks going forward, for several weeks whilst I’m still healing and to be mindful that I have prosthetic hip joint. He answered all of my questions and listened to what I had to say, which made me feel valued well cared for. I would 100% recommend him without reservations as in my opinion he is an excellent surgeon, whom genuinely cares about positive outcomes for his patients. Thank you so much Mr Sisodia the surgery has been life changing, I am pain free for the first time in years, so much do I had forgotten what pain free was like!

I was training for an ultramarathon charity event. 4 weeks before the event I lost feeling in my right leg because of a suspected disc injury. The guys at St Giles physiotherapy really helped me get back function in my leg as soon as possible. I don’t think I could have done it without them. There wasn’t any time for error within a 4 week window so I couldn’t have somebody guessing what I needed to do, I needed precise assessment and exact focused work on the areas affected. I definitely got that, my leg wasn’t 100% within 4 weeks there’s no way it could have been but I was able to run on it and get through 48 miles with a dodgy leg that wasn’t causing me as much pain anymore. That’s an amazing turn around and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without their technology and support.

My visit on27 March to Kingsbridge was a very good experience. I wasn’t kept waiting and the staff were all very efficient and friendly. I had my own separate room where staff introduced themselves and stated what their step was and quickly carried out each procedure. Mr Chan worked on my eye when it was frozen with the operation taking about 15 minutes. There was no pain as my eye was frozen. I was given all the medication I needed home with me and The following day I was able to put the drops in my eye myself. On 1st day my eye fell a bit gritty but cleared that day and My eye has no problem. Vision is extremely good and I hope to have my second eye done in-the future. I was nervous attending but the clinic was spotless and staff caring and put you at ease.

Having already discussed with my dentist about the options for what to do about a tooth that had to be removed, I had after thorough discussion of all the positives and negatives decided to go with having an implant. II was informed that the procedure would be undertaken in 3 separate sessions, this was my first session to have the screw placed in the jaw bone. An hour had been allocated but was completed i believe in less than half that time. I was given full instructions on how to look after the surgical site and be seen again in 8 weeks, if I had any problems to contact the surgery. All went well on this first of 3 appointments.

Dr Adam Haycock

I saw Dr Haycock as I have been suffering with acid reflux / Indigestion. Dr Haycock asked me to explain my symptoms, and took his time to evaluate my symptoms and explain his thoughts to me clearly and precisely. He also offered reassurance around certain procedures. I left the consultation feeling very well informed and knowing all the options that were available to me. Dr Haycock also offered the opportunity to make contact with him directly which again goes a very long way. I could not recommend Dr Haycock enough, and thank you for everything.

Spire Hartswood Hospital

The only negative was the information pack provided by the hospital upon discharge and being advised that I should change the dressing for the umbilical open repair surgery myself and this proved troublesome as the dressing totally came away exposing the wound / removing the glue. On a positive I phoned the hospital early evening when it happened and I was seen by a nurse the same evening who redressed the wound. Personally, unless you are medically trained I would recommend booking an appointment to have the dressing checked and changed.

Mr Harrison has looked after me extremely well. From my initial surgery to follow up. His bedside manner is second to none in the surgical field. He demonstrated alot of empathy when delivering bad news and supported me with this. His explanations throughout my appointments were very thorough so I understood all aspects of my care and decision making really well. Overall he is an excellent surgeon who is very highly regarded by his colleagues and the wider MDT and he has given me a very high standard of care.

I met Dr.Bull when I was in a real mess with my back. I was in so much pain and could not walk, but after a couple of reassuring meetings followed by an operation, I am free of pain and can get back to losing golf balls at my local club. Dr.Bull was genuinely concerned with my back issues and managed to target the root cause of the problem in one operation. I would whole heartedly recommend Dr.Bull to anyone who is suffering with back pain.

Mr Dixit operated on my umbilical Hernia. He was very clear on the procedure and gave me good advice to enable me to make my decisions. He was very understanding to my own needs, and the operation was smooth with no hitches. The wound healed well and I was left with a minor scar, which is reducing by the weeks. His estimation of my full recovery was "spot on" and I am very satisfied with the overall result.

She speaks directly to your child and really listens (not all doctors do that) and she puts the parents mind's at easy by the way she explains everything. I had a recent visit with Mr Chow at the Spires Manchester. The consultation was carried out in a clear and very calm manner. Mr Chow took the time to answer all questions very professionally with no rush or feelings of haste. It was a thorough consultation. The procedure was expertly handled. Everything was explained to ease my anxiety. I definitely felt in safe hands with Mr Chow.

The doctor I saw asked me no health related questions at all, and asked no questions relating to the stress I was experiencing either in regards of symptoms or causes. I found this service on my own GP website, and I am quite disgusted at the service and that this is being pimped out through an NHS GP website. I fear that the service is targeting vulnerable individuals.
