The Portland Hospital truly felt like a five-star hotel combined with exceptional medical care. From the moment we arrived, everything was calm, organised, and incredibly well run, making what can be an overwhelming experience feel reassuring and even enjoyable. The facilities are outstanding, the rooms are beautiful, and the level of comfort is unmatched — but what really makes The Portland special is the people. The care we received from the midwifery team was absolutely exceptional. In particular, midwives/nurses Lucy and Anna were truly wonderful. They were kind, attentive, reassuring, and incredibly supportive, always taking the time to check in, explain everything, and make us feel completely cared for. Their warmth and professionalism made such a difference to our experience and helped us feel confident and supported every step of the way. The aftercare was equally impressive, with genuine attention to both mother and baby. Every member of staff went above and beyond, and nothing ever felt rushed. We are so grateful for the outstanding care we received and would highly recommend The Portland Hospital to anyone looking for exceptional maternity care in a calm, luxurious, and supportive environment.

Dr James Thing is a miracle worker—I am now walking almost completely normally for the first time in almost a year. I had a Baker's Cyst which he drained and injected. I had limped into his office, barely able to walk and I (almost) skipped out. He did a scan on my foot but wouldn't do an injection until I had an MRI. This is good medicine as he wanted to be sure he was injecting in exactly the right place, and indeed, he wanted to make sure an injection was the right thing to do (which it was). The foot is so much better. I am back to walking my normal 4 ½ -5 mile routes without much difficulty. Dr James Thing is a brilliant doctor! What I like is that you go in, he does an ultrasound to make a diagnosis, and if appropriate, he carries out the procedure there and then. No waiting for additional appointments at additional costs. Treatment and relief are immediate. That is amazing to find in this day and age.

I had a dermatology appointment for a mole. My consultant told me it needs to be excised for a biopsy, and this would have the double role of treatment; by excising the mole, the “problem” would be fixed. I followed through with the procedure, and upon receiving results from the biopsy two weeks later, my consultant informed me that I would have to come back for a second excision! I was surprised, since my verbal communication with the consultant my understanding was that the initial excision was all that was needed. I felt that I was scammed into going through the same (800£!) procedure twice, when the whole thing could have been done in one go. I refused to return to this consultant.

I had an excellent experience seeing Dr Wamil and would highly recommend her. From the outset, she was extremely thorough and reassuring, taking the time to listen carefully to my symptoms and medical history rather than rushing to conclusions. Dr Wamil explained the possible causes of my symptoms in a clear and balanced way and recommended a cardiac MRI to investigate further. She took the time to explain why this test was important which made me feel fully informed and confident in the decision.

She reassured us, talked us through options and helped guide us towards a number of additional tests and ultimately a new clinic. Ultimately we were then incredibley lucky to fall pregnant naturally after 2 1/2 years of trying and we are sure the improvements made through testing particularly on my husbands side helped.

Mr. Langdon has a very professional yet caring manner. A full explanation of the procedure was given prior to my operation. Follow up care has been second to none. Not only am I delighted to have had the procedure performed, I am grateful that it was Mr. Langdon’s care that I was placed in. I needed advice a couple of weeks after the operation and Mr. Langdon called back quickly with great advice and reassurance. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Mr Van Wyk was friendly and easy to talk to . He listened to my problem and made a careful examination and diagnosis. He offered a wait and see strategy rathe than an immediate treatment which I found abit disappointing but how wrong I was! His timely advice avoided me needing surgery because the problem solved itself after a few weeks. I would not hesitate to consult him again or to recommend him highly to others.

I had a check up.....my teeth are not doing very well and I'm holding on to them and looking after them as best I can....my dentist compared my latest x-ray with one taken 2 years ago and explains what's going on and what I can do to keep them as long as I can ... it's good she takes the time to explain without making me feel awkward.... And I always say to never underestimate a kind word and a nice smile....:)

I HAD BEEN ADVISED that emergency treams were available in spencer. Mr Murthy was most kind and was willing to operate but said that services were not available and that the anesthetist would not operate. He advised me to continue via NHS. Given these facts and that this was the 4th consultant I have seen I am far from happy. No criticism of Mr Murthy he was extremely kind and honest.

I don't remember it much, however the right eye was well and painlessly operated, the left eye, it seems, the surgeon encountered some issue and he mentioned it to nurse, I did not understand, but for a few days the eye was sore around periphery of eye ball muscles, it would have helped to know what, if anything, occurred there.
