Mr Divyang Shukla

Mr Shukla originally saw me as a private patient in order to relieve the pain in my left shoulder. He gave me a pain reliving injection and advised me that I really needed an operation to solve the problem. He offered to write to my GP and ask him to refer me back to Mr Shukla as an NHS patient for the necessary operation. Subsequently I had an X-Ray and an MRI scan on the shoulder. Yesterday Mr Shukla saw me having seen the X-Ray and scan results and advised me that instead of a shoulder replacement op. he recommended that he carry out a key-hole operation to remove a piece of bone on the shoulder which was causing me pain and also to repair two damaged tendons. This I have agreed to and I now await a date for the op. Mr Shukla is very courteous, kind and re-assuring and also explains what the problem is and what is the best way to resolve the problem.

I had a lumbar microdiscectomy at St Anthony’s and the care I received was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were incredibly kind, patient and attentive throughout my stay. In the post-operation recovery area, the Irish nurse who looked after me was especially wonderful. I’m so sorry I can’t remember her name — I was still a bit loopy after the anaesthetic — but she was unbelievably kind, gentle and reassuring at a moment when I really needed it. On the ward, Rose was also fantastic. She checked on me regularly, made sure I was comfortable, and was so warm and supportive. Her kindness made the first night after surgery much easier. Overall, the team at St Anthony’s made what could have been a very stressful experience feel calm and safe. I’m really grateful for the care I received and would highly recommend the hospital.

My whole experience was exceptional. From the first consultation Mr Davies explained everything to me in detail, asked me many questions and really listened to what I had to say, it felt so good to be heard and not feeling rushed. From checking in at 7am until I left in the afternoon every member of staff I dealt with was so kind and reassuring, I felt very safe and confident. Mr Davies again went through everything and I felt reassured. My surgery was a month ago and I feel wonderful, no pain and my life is a lot easier. I went to have my operation dressing removed and the consultant mr paver to check the wounds to make sure he’s happy with the results he was totally happy he said it’s the best results he’s seen for a long time with my second toe correction he’s extremely happy and so am I I haven’t seen my foot look so good in a long long time and the fact I’ve not really had any pain after this surgery is a miracle but I’ve done as I’m told and kept it elevated as I was told too for the first 2 weeks and just shows how much difference that makes

Absolutely brilliant, from the moment i had the pre-op all the staff from the reception right upto and including the surgeon Mr phaltankar are great - they put you at ease the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out and considering I had a full knee replacement I didn’t think I would walking so well even with crutches and after four weeks I didn’t need them the procedure was that good. My thanks to all the staff at highfield hospital and a special thanks to Mr phaltankar who gave me my mobility back.

The staff were so kind and helped me to relax when I went for egg collection. The Embryo transfer was a beautiful moment and they ensured it was marked with a photo of the embryo being transferred and a hand written card. Unfortunately, our first transfer was unsuccessful but I know we are in safe hands for our next steps. The admin team in particular have been amazing - responsive, sensitive and friendly. Thank you to all of the staff that quietly encourage hope in a scary time

After I got a PCO in my left eye I needed laser surgery. I had not been told this was common after Lens replacement by the opticians who did did that surgery so I was very worried about my sight. I contacted Cathedral Eye Clinic who assured me it was common and was easily corrected. They made an appointment and in less than an hour my sight was restored. I was dealth with by very friendly and professional staff and would happily recommend Cathedral Eye Clinic to anyone .

The Tuesday mornings I have received my treatment have just been so amazing, she is so warm and welcoming and listens and advises so very carefully. Arrived in good time but parking was appalling. No toilet in the temporary scanner, so had to find another in main building. Was a little out of breath in return and was sent straight in. Told to stay still, but was still breathing a little hard which wasn’t taken into account. The staff were pleasant but seemed to give up on me when I couldn’t hear instructions through the headphones (I had been told to wear ear protection buds underneath).

Professor Gomez was decisive in his diagnosis of my condition. He was honest but clear and helpful about the extent of my hernia and the need for open surgery under general anaesthetic.
