We are extremely grateful to Dr Shalini Chawla for her care and support through our pregnancy and delivery. We came to her with a complex background — a previous emergency C-section and a very strong desire for a VBAC this time. While some other doctors were hesitant or not fully supportive of this plan, Dr Chawla took the time to understand our priorities and supported us in a thoughtful, evidence-based way. Throughout the pregnancy, there were moments of anxiety and during these times Dr Chawla was always available for us. She guided us calmly and clearly on what to do and when to act, which provided enormous reassurance and prevented unnecessary panic. What stood out most was her flexibility and accessibility, even late at night, which gave us immense reassurance during a very anxious decision-making process. As the pregnancy progressed, plans evolved. VBAC remained our preferred plan throughout, but once we reached our agreed backstop date, we understood that an elective C-section would be required. Even then, discussions continued right up to the night before, with Dr Chawla patiently walking us through the options and ensuring we felt fully supported and informed at every step. Ultimately, we did require an emergency C-section, but Dr Chawla handled the situation with exceptional calm and control. She orchestrated the theatre smoothly, communicated clearly, and the surgery itself was excellent. Recovery has been good, which speaks to the quality of the procedure. Beyond the technical skill, Dr Chawla was consistently reassuring, present, and supportive — both during delivery and afterwards. We never felt rushed or dismissed, and she was always there when we needed guidance or reassurance. We would highly recommend Dr Shalini Chawla - her clinical competence, flexibility, and genuine patient support is rare and deeply appreciated.

Appalling aftercare!! In as an overflow NHS patient. Had major surgery. Nurse refused the doctors requests in the morning. When discharged later that day the nurse still refused what the doctor asked for. The doctor had to be firm in saying what the nurse had to do as it was on the surgeons notes! The nurse reluctantly did it in the end but only half a job. The nurse left ouzing burn scars after removing dressing and didn't tell me until i put my clothes on and the material was catching on them. My husband got him back and he said "Yes i saw that!". Did nothing or aplogise. No empathy at all. I had 2 nurses come to my home that evening to sort out the burns and dressing on my surgical areas . Nightime was very little aftercare. Catheter was overflowing in the night. No one seemed to know what was going on in regards to your medical notes. Food was appalling dried up and burnt. No snack trolley inbetween meals. Awful experience. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Was I treated differently because I was in there last request as an overflow NHS patient. I was meant to be going to Birchington ward for my recovery. A complaint will be going in! The doctor said twice to have medication prescribed to the nurse and he would not do it so I came home with no painkillers and was told to go to a chemist after major surgery. Lack of care. No bedside manners.

From beginning to end what a warm and comforting environment. I don’t think the people that make the difference always get the feedback they deserve. Mr Basu was extremely kind and even referred to my dad in his call as he’s just passed away and I’d mentioned him. Sarah gascoigne from my initial call to book me in for my vacuum assisted biopsy I’ll add I suffer with anxiety and even though dreading it her personality and the way she spoke to me on email calls and holding my hand / leg lol just made the process possible. Shamima was also so kind and supportive and finally Dr Telesca you were so lovely and approached me in the best way possible so professional yet warming and just made me feel it was going to be ok. Thank you dream team! Take care hope you get to see this and all your bosses praise you as you should be in what is such a scary place for the patient to be. Take care.

I arrived circa 15min before my appointment time as requested and was greeted courteously by the reception staff before being lead to an examination room to undergo a basic check of my eyesight and health check/questionnaire. On retuning to the waiting area I was almost immediately greeted by Mr Bhargava. The consolation was just 5min after the appointment time, which is excellent. The consultation was thorough and very professional, Mr Bhargava has a very good manner and following questioning and examination explained all the parameters relevant to my condition. Mr Bhargava then went on to detail treatment and advice in a concise but detailed way covering all aspects very well. I left feeling that the visit was well worthwhile and that I had been treated well in all aspects of the consolation. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Bhargava to friends and colleagues.

Mr Casula performed my minimally invasive mitral valve repair surgery in January. He is an extremely experienced and expert surgeon, based on my positive experience of the process to date, from our first meeting, the surgery itself and my recovery so far. Everything proceeded entirely accordingly to the clear and calm explanations he provided, and better than my own expectations. My family and friends could not believe how well I felt, looked and sounded even one day post surgery. I feel blessed to have been under the care of such an amazing surgeon who I thoroughly recommend for his surgical skill and the humble manner in which he delivers it. Thank you does not being to cover it and I, and my friends and family will be forever indebted to Mr Casula.

Hello I was very upset when the hospital charge me for XRAY in an NHS hospital that we have to be in the queue and don't get the private care. I had a fall in June 2024 and had an operation at RFH unfortunately the operation was not successful. I can't walk properly I am on a stick and have lots of pain. If I go to private is because I don't have any access to NHS but that doesn't mean that for diagnosis I need to pay while me and my family are paying a lot for taxes and don't benefit for our health when we need and are desperate. I also have been to another private consultant to find out what went wrong and if I can ever get better and can walk but they just charge me for consultation not XRAY in an all private clinic. Thank you

Pretty straightforward experience overall. The receptionist on the first floor (the Somali lady wearing a hijab) was extremely kind and helpful. My phone was about to die and I asked if there was any chance of a charger- she went out of her way to help me, which I really appreciated. It’s the small things like that which leave a lasting impression, and that’s exactly why I wanted to leave this review. The only small suggestion I’d make is having oat milk available at the coffee machine for those who don’t have dairy, it would be a thoughtful and considerate touch.

Dr Shalabi was calm and caring. He listened to my symptoms, looked into them further than anyone had ever done, and suggested some treatment options based on the test results. After years of being told my symptoms were "just IBS and all the results were within normal range", he suggested some additional tests and a subsequent treatment plan which has genuinely changed my quality of life. Dr Shalabi seemed to look at the symptoms and the data in conjunction, which seems to be a novel idea. I can not thank him enough.

Nish was outstanding from start to finish! I couldn’t have been happier with how my birth went, and that is largely down to the fantastic support from Nish. He was a very calming and reassuring presence throughout birth, providing very clear explanations for what was happening. His very extensive knowledge also ensured I had a seamless birth and recovery despite a very rare complication. We hope to have a second baby in the future and will definitely be looking for Nish’s support again.

My experiences at the Lister hospital were generally positive. The facilities are clean and modern. The wait time was variable but generally ok. There wasn't much continuity in the nursing and sonography staff I saw which is a shame, and the quality was variable, but in general most of my experiences were with skilled and knowledgeable staff. On a few occasions I wasn't entirely confident in the nurse or sonographer treating me.

Mr Gill seems to me a very accomplished surgeon in the knee surgery field. He did an excellent job on both my knees, they both appear to be working fine and the scarring is much less than expected. Especially on my left knee where it's hardly noticeable, many people, even nurses, say it doesn't look as though I've had such major surgery done. 10 out of 10 Mr Gill. He is very easy to talk to and has great approach to his work.

The doctor was 8 mins late *(with no apology for the late running( and them seemed to have a different idea of why i was there to me - he thought he was just assessing skin tags rather than removing - and then said he didnt have time to remove them - yet he was the one running late. I will come for the follow up but after that will never use this practice again.
