My experience at GenesisCare Surrey was amazing. I chose to have private MRLinac radiotherapy for my prostate cancer in order that my treatment would have the minimum impact on my life and I was not disappointed. I was given an initial appointment within a week of getting approval from my health insurance. As my partner and I were travelling from some distance and staying in Guildford during the 11 days it took for my five treatments, the radiographers were very flexible in arranging the dates to suit us. GenesisCare offered to pay taxi fares for us to travel each time, but as the distance was too far we chose to stay and were amazed when they offered to contribute to our hotel bills, The building was modern and purpose built and the reception area was pleasant, bright and the staff friendly with tea, coffee and snacks on tap. Parking was easy and right outside. The MRLinac suite was similarly well done and the radiographers were friendly, helpful and keen to make things as easy as possible. It was nice to be taken into the control room to meet the team rather than them being shut away behind the glass. All of my treatments started on time and the last two appointments were rearranged so we could leave a day early. The whole experience felt more relaxing than attending a normal medical establishment, in fact more like being at a high-tech research institute. There was a follow-up call from a radiographer after we had been at home for a week to check how I was doing. The MRLinac treatment gave me very little in terms of side effects during the treatment or afterwards and meant we able to explore Guildford and the surrounding area when I wasn't having treatment. The whole experience was much preferable to the standard radiotherapy which would have involved 20 treatments over 4 weeks with months of hormone treatment. I felt confident that the use of MRI scans during treatment ensured the radiotherapy was precisely targeted to give the best results and to limit any damage to other organs. It did require me to lie in the machine for 25-40 mins and to ensure my bowels were empty and my bladder was half full at the time which was a bit tricky. The radiographers were very patient in giving me advice and support to help me achieve this although some more advice at the beginning would have been useful. If you have the option to have treatment at GenesisCare then I can thoroughly recommend it.

Professor George Du Toit

Prof Du Toit is an excellent doctor, even for patients who don’t like medics at all. He is very kind, listens hard and the fact that he genuinely cares about those he’s looking after always shines through. He has a wonderful, easy manner and the rare gift of talking to children (and parents) in a really effective, accessible way. He is also hugely knowledgeable and is up to speed on all the latest innovations in allergy, which is both very reassuring and hard to find. We’re a long way into a complex allergy situation and having seen numerous other doctors, we can’t recommend Prof Du Toit highly enough. You’d struggle to find anyone better. He’s first class.

It was reassuring to be able to discuss my present AF journey with Dr Gary Wright and to discuss my medication etc with him .As l have been worried for some time now. which makes things worse. Weight loss was discussed which my own wonderful GP had already mentioned to me so this is my top priority now as l realise this is going to make a difference. I am so pleased that l was able to see Dr Wright he was easy to talk to and very down to earth and l feel that if l have any further fears that l could approach him and would feel that l would be getting an honest answer.

I went to have my operation dressing removed and the consultant mr paver to check the wounds to make sure he’s happy with the results he was totally happy he said it’s the best results he’s seen for a long time with my second toe correction he’s extremely happy and so am I I haven’t seen my foot look so good in a long long time and the fact I’ve not really had any pain after this surgery is a miracle but I’ve done as I’m told and kept it elevated as I was told too for the first 2 weeks and just shows how much difference that makes

I received such wonderful care and advice from Mr Ahmed. I was suffering from capsular contracture, where one of my breast implants had become very painful and misshaped. This was effecting my ability to work and causing me pain everyday. Mr Ahmed talked me through all my options and I decided to have full implant removal, followed by a breast lift. Mr Ahmed was very caring and knowledgeable and I felt safe in his hands. I am over the moon with my final result and would highly recommend him.

I had an injury last year on my left calf alongside recurring main in my right foot so wanted to get them checked. Dr Lord effectively assessed my calf, showed a very small tear, and then looked at my feet and told me there’s minor thickening in one of the tendons, which wouldn’t require any intervention but recommended physio for both including some effective stretching. Now I’ve got my report I can give to my physio and monitor it more effectively ACTUALLY knowing what’s wrong.

Spire Hartswood Hospital

The Spire is a very clean and well equipt hospital but with limited parking. However, my last trip to the spire hartswood had an hours delay before I was seen, which isnt ideal. My thoughts on this is if Reform get their way and sell off NHS that private sector is no better equipt to deal with volume than NHS. Tjat daid onve seen I was treated by a lovely nurse Marianne who was very caring and jolly which made yhe appointment a very pmeasurable experience.

Miss Nung Rudarakanchana

Miss Rudarakanchana was very professional, knowledgeable, kind and able to answer my questions. She has a calm reassuring manner and explained the whole process very well. Could not fault the whole process. The London clinic were also very efficient. Here secretary Tessa is very good and replies promptly to any requests. I would definitely recommend this consultant for anyone having treatment for varicose veins.

Patronising, no evidence had read prefilled questionnaire, or previous history. Despite personal discomfort I described, the only response was to leave things as they were, lack of initiative. Lack of empathy. I was asked to book an appt sooner rather than later which I did, and then during the appt I was told to leave things as they were for another couple of months. Very dissatisfied with the service.

I walked up 12 floors as there were no lifts available.Only 14% capacity.I got to the Thames view suite via the cardiac lift because a cardiac unit staff member took pity on me and put me into lift 14 to complete my Access Path to the private patients unit. What on earth is going on and why does the lift maintenance contract not have a 50% minimum functionality profile as a term for service?

I was at the clinic for a 6 weeks post surgery appointment. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. I saw Kevin Bryceland. He showed me the xray of my new hip, explained the surgery and checked my progress. He was happy to answer any questions and explained the next steps. While it was busy in the clinic, Kevin took time to listen and I didn't feel rushed in any way.
