I have had Cataract operations to both eyes January-March 2025. Things didn't start well when the Surgeon, in a 'telephone consultation' with me, committed to a price for the new lenses I would get. This was later overruled by the Management who told me the Surgeon didn't have the authority to agree a price with me. So I had to pay quite a bit more than I was originally told. As in some £400 per eye more. Amusing to observe how the 'care' (on the NHS, but sub-contracted to this private business) was promoted as being 'Exactly the same as Private Medical Care'. Oh no it wasn't ...it was much better. Once I was flagged up as 'potentially suitable for a PRIVATE operation' using Implants that were 'Not available on the NHS' I was treated very different. Previously done examinations were repeated 'to be sure'. Does that mean they are not sure if you are a NHS Patient? ;). Additional examinations 'not available on the NHS' were done. Am I being unfair? A short review would just say this: *Generally excellent professional friendly staff. * Medical care excellent. But.... Appointment waiting times need reviewing - I have always had to wait at least 45 min, sometimes more than on hour, before being seen. Why? If you depend on a relative or friend to drop you off and pick you up it sometimes got a bit difficult: Is this appointment going to take 30 Min, or 4 hours? Nobody knows. Admin/organization sometimes a bit confused - Why did I get an email survey for my right eye, and not for my left? Waiting in the corridor between different checks in different rooms a bit of a hit and miss - staff running around, folders being handed over, people sitting and waiting being missed, the order in which things were done got a bit confused sometimes, patients reminding passing nurses that others who arrived after them were seen before them. But all with good humor! But, in the end, I can see excellent again with both eyes - and that is what is really important.

My hearing care assistant Claire was brilliant. I only made the appointment because I was spending New Year in the area from London and still had muffled hearing despite being under treatment for wax removal in both ears. I had already gone down the local NHS route, which uses only irrigation, to no effect and the private (Specsavers) route, which uses only micro-suction, with limited success after several visits. So I was delighted that with just one treatment of about twenty minutes at Meadows and Wood my ears were completely clear. Claire used both methods in appropriate combination to get the result I wanted. She was very pleasant, friendly and extremely professional and fully answered any questions I had. She was also careful to keep me informed of what she was doing at every point of the treatment whilst ensuring that there was no pain or discomfort. I would unhesitatingly recommend Meadows and Wood to anybody. The standard of treatment I received was so high that it might well be worth making the trip from London the next time I need their services!

Mr Jamie Vatish

General Surgeon

Mr Vatish was attentive and gave clear answers to my questions. He was knowledgeable and helped me to understand the procedure I was about to have. He explained what a biopsy was and how it was taken. He then explained the potential results. Once I was given the diagnosis, he explained the surgery I would have and what he would do in terms of taking a margin of tissue from around the site of the cancer and sending it to the lab. When the results came back, he gave me clear results and was able to answer my questions about my future, giving me examples of how likely reoccurance might be, in terms of percentage. Mr Vatish is a very skilled surgeon. I only have a very slight scar a month after surgery. I would highly recommend Mr Vatish for any surgery required, you will be in very good hands.

From the initial consultation to post-operative care, he was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and reassuring. On the day of surgery, his calm and confident manner gave me great reassurance, and my recovery has been smooth thanks to his skill and attention to detail. Ami Shukla is the first gynaecologist who listened to me and understood my concerns and worries. I left feeling reassured that my issues will now be looked at properly. Before seeing Ms Shukla I was feeling really lost I found GP's don't really understand womens health. I was previously put on antidepressants and was told that I was feeling a certain type of way because this was all in my head and this was put down to mental health when in realitiy my HRT needed looking at. The HRT was not quite right which is why I booked into see Ami Shukla who has now put my mind at ease and is helping me with my women issues. I highly recommend Ms Shukla to everyone.

Mr Oakley was clear from the start as to what my knee replacement involved, not shying away from the pain I would be in. This was greatly appreciated as I’m not a one for people trying to gloss over of things. He was very kind and also had a sense of humour, together with being totally professional. He came to see me before and after the operation and again before I left hospital after my 2 day stay. I had an 6 week appointment after my op and Mr Oakley was as nice and helpful then as the first time I met him. All in all I have been extremely impressed with his care, also that of the lovely nurses and other staff at the Nuffield in Hereford.

Mr Debashis Ghosh

Mr Ghosh was the third surgeon I saw after being diagnosed with breast cancer, and from the very first consultation I knew I was in expert hands. His competence and experience were immediately evident, and this was fully confirmed after my surgery. He performed a lumpectomy and, despite having to remove a very large tumour, he did an exceptional job preserving the shape of my breast. His calm and reassuring manner helped me feel at ease throughout the process, which meant more to me than I can express. I will always be grateful to Mr Ghosh for his skill and compassion. I truly cannot recommend him highly enough.

Following an unsatisfactory outcome with a previous surgeon, Mr Gnanachandran has taken it upon himself to rectify the situation. From our first consultation, he has been extremely knowledgeable and understanding, particularly recognising my understandable difficulty in trusting a surgeon again. He took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly, provided clear and honest advice, and ensured I fully understood my options. I first saw Mr Wadhwa on the 3 November 2025 where an Epididymal cyst was diagnosed. Had scans on the 6th, pre surgery visit on 20th and surgery on the 26th. Cyst of 9cm long removed, a 'block' inserted and no pain has occurred post surgery after following the meds regime I was given. Back swimming after 3 weeks. The staff and Mr Wadhwa kept me informed at all times, the facilities were superb and on the day of my surgery I was operated on at 1pm and home for 6.30pm. I would recommend Mr Wadhwa to all based on my experience.

From my GP referral to my initial appointment it was less then 2 weeks. Before surgery I had 3 post operation assessments. The operation was completed as a day admission. I was kept full informed and treated with kindness and respect by all the staff. Mr Bhardwaj saw me on the morning before the operation and again later after it had been completed. Again, I was kept fully informed about my condition.

I attended the Practice to have a filling replaced which had come out after many years. My appointment was on time. Dr Rahman was a charming man who who put you at your ease and was very chatty and amusing with his assistant which was nice to listen to. The filling didn’t take long and I was soon out and able to eat and drink without having to wait!
