I waited over an hour to be seen for my pre admission appointment. After being admitted and been shown to my room I was left for 5 hours in a cold room without anyone checking on me or giving me information about when my operation would be. Staff only turned up when I called and was then able to get some water as I was then advised that my operation was being delayed for a few hours. Short staffed. Slow to respond to buzzer calls. Staff always seemed to be busy doing something else other than looking after patients. Quite noisy ward during the day with people’s loud voices/laughing. Outdated facilities, no overhead bed light so had to have the main big room lights on all the time, which I could not control. I was moved to a different room after my operation as the first one did not have sufficient heating. The en-suite bathrooms are very outdated. Very short shower hose. In my second room there were 2 Rentokill boxes in shower. 50% of staff were friendly. I had major abdominal surgery. My night nurse was very compassionate and took very good care of me for 2 nights. I was discharged with the insufficient amount of painkillers to take home and without a physio assessment or much information about what symptoms to look out for and how to help recovery. I had to contact my own GP to get enough painkillers. Once discharged I had to walk with my husband all the way to the car at the pickup parking as there was no porter or wheelchair available. I had given 1h notice and then let her know again 10minutes before my husband arrived to collect me.

I had implants placed by Mr Solomos 11 years ago, and they continued to look fantastic with no issues at all. After turning 50, I decided it was the right time to have them removed and undergo an uplift. I knew I wanted Mark to perform the surgery, as he had been exceptional previously and had done such an outstanding job with my implants. From start to finish, liaising with Christine, his PA, was both enjoyable and highly professional. The availability and flexibility of appointments—from the initial consultations through to surgery and post-operative check-ups—were excellent and very much centred around my needs. Mark’s team of nurses, anaesthetist, and other staff at the Cadogan Clinic were all warm, welcoming, and professional, which added to an already excellent experience. Mark himself is a truly brilliant surgeon who works absolute magic. He made me feel completely comfortable and genuinely listened throughout the entire process, allowing me to feel totally at ease and confident in his ability to achieve exactly the outcome I hoped for. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been cared for by a surgeon of his skill and expertise, and I am absolutely delighted with the results. Thank you, Mark and team.

Everything was appreciated. the only thing noticed was the main front desk receptionist as you check-in and indeed who checked me in before my appointment, which was at 12:45pm. She seemed over-worked and was not very welcoming, yet it was before lunch. The reception staff are the first point of contact for anyone and need to maintain a happier face (regardless of their own issues) and use far more entertaining approach or greeting language. My contact with this lady was not even 1-minute and this was not even fulfilled. This is compared to many places I have came across including hospital staff e.g MIR or my local GP including anywhere where you deal with the general public. Her approach was out of the ordinary and it was more like she was facing issues, no thanks expressed. Only formal questions asked in a rush so I can be marked in quickly and that's it.

Very impressed by Mr Howard from the first referral and pre-op information. He answered my questions personally in a friendly and totally professional manner. The open AAA surgery went well. Excellent care on the vascular ward with honest advice. Mr Howard visited the ward several times and reassured my concerns. He answered my post-op questions personally, and I just had a follow-up clinic with him, which again reassured me. I can contact him directly if needed. I've been very impressed with the the whole process from the screening program at 65, through rapid referral when it was triggered. He gave me a planned operation date at the first referral which held. The elective journey has been smooth and impressive throughout.

I had been considering eye surgery and attended Cathedral Eye Clinic to get a second opinion, having already spoken with a consultant in Dublin. Putting it simply, my experience in Belfast was far superior. The team at Cathedral ran a more comprehensive range of tests, assigned more time and personnel to my case, and were far better at talking through my options. In particular, I was very pleased that they were willing to give me their honest perspectives based on what they felt was best for me in the long run. Ultimately (based on their guidance), I decided not to go forward with any additional procedure at this time, but should I need treatment further down the line, I will not hesitate to go back to Belfast.

The consultation was very thorough, and Professor Reid had clearly read and thought about my particular case in advance. He took me through a detailed explanation of my situation, the treatment I would need, and the reasons for his recommendations. Using visuals he was able to present material that is complicated to a lay person in a very clear and simple manner. By the end of the consultation I felt I understood what the next steps were, and had confidence in his recommendations regarding future treatment.

I had an ovarian cyst and ovary removed via keyhole surgery by Dr Mackintosh and can highly recommend her. She listened, we agreed the treatment plan together and I felt involved in all decisions throughout. She explained everything very well. The operation went well and she did an excellent job ensuring minimal trapped air afterwards and the scars have healed really nicely. Would not hesitate to visit her again - but obviously hope I don’t have to!

Initially believed a guided steroid injection had been arranged through our GP. However despite trying to confirm this prior to visit this transpired not to be the case and was told another appointment would need to be booked for a later date. Fortunately Natalie, senior radiologist, was kindly able to arrange a guided steroid injection for that afternoon for which I am very grateful for as it is one hour twenty minutes round trip for us

I have been under the care of Professor Andrew Wardley for the past three years, and the care he has provided has been outstanding. He is always very responsive and open to any requests or questions. Throughout my cancer journey, he has consistently been calm, composed, and reassuring, which made an incredibly difficult time much easier to face. Reason for the low rating on wait time is that I reported for admission at 1300 as requested but didn’t end up going to theatre until 2030. This was in part due to earlier procedures taking longer than expected but it was a very long time to wait and a long time to not eat. Perhaps a 3rd admission slot later in the afternoon would be a good improvement on busy days. But other than that everything else was very good.
