Relevant Landmark Publications:
I’m passionate about evidence-based practice and strive to provide my patients with the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatments and surgical techniques that I deploy in my practice.
Here are two examples of major projects that I have conducted and have made huge impact on refining my surgical techniques and practice in hip & knee replacement surgery:
Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) provide the most reliable evidence on the effectiveness of interventions. In this project, I studied all RCTs ever been published on the subject of total knee replacements which involved 403 trials in 47,675 patients. The results of this landmark paper are published in the prestigious American Journal of Arthroplasty. Due to its academic and practical significance, it was supported by a dedicated editorial by some of the most influential and leading knee replacement surgeons in North America.
Similarly, I studied all RCTs ever been published on total hip replacements which involved 312 trials in over 34,000 patients. The results of this landmark study were also published in the prestigious Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Patients frequently commend his ability to explain procedures, particularly for total knee replacement and total hip replacement, providing comprehensive information from consultation to aftercare. Many patients experience excellent outcomes, including reduced pain, improved mobility, neat scars, and smooth recoveries after their operations. His expertise in these joint replacement surgeries delivers positive and often life-changing patient experiences.
Detailed pre operative consultation. On the day pre op visit by Mr Matar to ask if any questions and to explain what would happen . Operation went very smoothly. Was very impressed with the post op ice treatment I recieved . This was followed up with a knee ice pack I took home . It had 3 seperate icepacks in it and I used it for 20mins every 2 hours during the day for 3 weeks until my first physio appointment . It worked wonders ! ..Reduced the swelling and the pain considerably . The 3 group physio sessions were really helpful and we practised all the exercises on The App which had been ,and still is ,a visual reminder that these exercises still need doing . At my final consultation Mr Matar showed me my pre and post knee x Rays and explained how the operation had helped my mobility . All in all I was extremely pleased with Mr Matars pleasant manner and professionalism and would highly recommend him for knee surgery .
Excellent interaction, pragmatic, clear and had total confidence in Mr Matar execution of the complex procedure.
Super professional and very pleased with outcome so far Many thanks
I have been and had treatment at the park before so jumped at the chance once I had the option to return
Very friendly and made us feel at home and looked after us very well thank you
Appointment on time. Enjoyed speaking to Mr Mater who explained everything I need to know. Excellent Manner
Mr Matar took time to explain what was happening with my hip and compared left and right hips on my x-ray. He then went on to explain the surgery along with the expected outcome. All this was done in a very professional way but delivered such that it felt more like a chat with an old friend, such is his bedside manner. Post operation the hip is doing well, as expected and the wound has healed up well too. Full recovery is over to me now to keep up with the physio as prescribed and the great work Mr Matar has done. Couldn’t have wished for a better surgeon. All credit where it’s due. Thank you.
Mr Matar, as usual a consumate professional , thorough, informative and efficient , we always leave happy , can not thank him enough
