About Mr Jonathan Dawson
Mr. Jonathan Dawson is a Consultant General Surgeon, specialising in general surgery, breast surgery and plastic surgery. He works at Northampton General Hospital where he was first appointed as Consultant in 1996.
Mr. Dawson qualified in Medicine in 1982 from the University of London, before developing a career interest in breast cancer and surgery. He worked as a Lecturer for University College London for 8 years, where he undertook research in breast and colorectal cancer treatments, as well as laparoscopic and hernia surgery. He also published numerous articles based on his research. Mr Dawson was awarded the Blackwell prize and was nominated for the Moynihan prize. Furthermore, he completed fellowships with the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Association of Surgical Oncology, and the Association of Breast Surgeons.
He was later appointed as a Consultant at Northampton General Hospital. He worked as the Lead Surgeon between 2000 and 2015 for the breast unit, and then as the Lead Clinician for delivery of breast cancer services until 2018. He can perform numerous medical procedures including sentinel node biopsy, symptomatic ultrasound, mammotome excision, and laparoscopic hernia surgery.
He sees outpatients for breast conditions for only at the following locations:

He only operates on breast patients at:

I cannot recommend Mr Dawson highly enough. He is a very professional, warm & approachable surgeon who exudes competence from the moment you first meet him. Throughout the various stages of treatment, he has listened very patiently to my fears, anxieties & many, many questions(!) & then provided a well-reasoned opinion on which he based his recommended course of action in simple, straightforward terms. From the very first consultation I knew I was in the best possible hands & I am incredibly grateful for the excellent care I have received.
Mr Dawson is always very professional but adds a personal touch which makes you feel a little more calm. He is always very clear, takes his time and answers all your questions
