Dr Chad Chang

Mr Chad Chang is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with a practice spanning reconstructive microsurgery, lymphatic supermicrosurgery, and aesthetic surgery of the face and body.

He completed his plastic surgery training in the UK before undertaking advanced fellowships in Taiwan, where he gained specialist expertise in head and neck reconstruction, complex microsurgery, and lymphatic supermicrosurgery. This training provided extensive experience in highly delicate soft-tissue procedures, supermicrosurgical techniques, and aesthetic planning tailored to diverse patient populations.

Mr Chang has a particular specialist interest in lymphatic surgery and leads the Great North Lymphatic Centre. He offers advanced treatments for lymphoedema, including ICG-guided mapping, lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA), vascularised lymph node and vessel transfer (VLNT/VLVT), and selective liposuction or debulking procedures. His approach combines reconstructive and aesthetic principles to improve function, contour, and long-term outcomes, with treatment plans tailored to each patient’s condition.

In addition to his reconstructive work, he provides a range of aesthetic procedures such as eyelid surgery, facial rejuvenation, and body contouring. His surgical planning focuses on proportion, tissue quality, and achieving natural, balanced results.

Mr Chang is also actively involved in research and education, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, including contributions that have helped shape modern lymphaticovenous anastomosis techniques.
