I had knee replacement surgery at the Practice Plus hospital at Barlborough on 29th November. The pain I experienced during the two weeks following the surgery on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate at 8 to 9. Now that I am in my eight week of recovery my pain level is 1 or2 I had a problem in that during the first 2 weeks after surgery I was hardly able to sleep due to the pain when lying down and some nights I had zero hours of sleep. After discussion with the hospital pharmacist it became evident that one of the pain killing medicines I had been prescribed had insomnia as one of it’s side effects. After stopping this medication and taking an alternative my sleep pattern returned to normal and my recovery accelerated. From the experiences of friends who had undergone this surgery I knew that physiotherapy was the key to a successful outcome. The physiotherapy I received at Barlborough was exceptional. By following their exercise plans and receiving guidance at my follow-up visits I am now able walk for one hour virtually pain free, ride my static bike at home and if all goes well should be able to ride my bike on the road in a few weeks time. I had a really great experience at this private GP appointment and couldn’t fault it. From the moment I arrived, the staff were absolutely lovely, welcoming, and professional, which instantly put me at ease. The whole appointment felt calm and well organised, with no rushing at all. Dr Owen Weeks was fantastic — very kind, reassuring, and took the time to listen properly. He explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and made me feel genuinely comfortable and cared for. It was such a refreshing experience compared to feeling rushed elsewhere. Overall, it was a great doctor’s appointment and well worth going private. I left feeling reassured and confident, and I would highly recommend this service to anyone considering it. Asked to be 15 mins early for scan, but then not called until 30 mins or so after time of appointment without any prior indication of running late (perhaps because it was at 6pm ). Head scanner was still busy so junior radiologer kindly chatted to me for 15 mins after I'd changed to kill time. Having been told it would take 15 mins, scan took about 45 mins and team forgot to talk to me or put music on despite me saying I was a bit claustrophic (but can get by ok). Then at 8pm, no doubt in rush to scan next person, they didn't remove cannula so i wandered around to find another staff member to do that who happily obliged. Not a major problem but not up to Cleveland usual standards. Staff were all very friendly though, but perhaps clinic shouldn't book in patients at end of day if they can't really handle them properly.

Communication with Kernow Psychiatry has been very responsive and I booked an initial appointment to discuss my mental health difficulties. Dr Reid welcomed me into a comfortable room at the wellness hub, she immediately put me at ease and took care make sure I was settled and ready to start. After the hour, Dr Reid summarised what she saw as the key priorities to getting me back on an even keel, suggesting a clear approach to addressing my intersecting issues. I am looking forward to my follow up appointment and the start of my recovery treatment plan. I only wish I’d followed my instincts sooner and booked in months ago.

Hugest thanks to Dr Onur Gilleard for removing the cyst like lump on my face - he is an incredible highly skilled Plastic surgeon - the procedure was pain free, very quick and I couldn't believe how neat and small the incision and stitches were which are healing beautifully. It was only a week ago however I have absolutely no doubt that there will be minimal scarring due to his expertise. Dr Gilleard and the nurse were incredibly kind and caring and totally put me at ease. Would totally recommend to anyone.

I found the GP we visited to be welcoming and friendly, he was very informative and honest with things however I found the reception staff to be the opposite they were not very welcoming and I felt that they were closed of from any type of communication or request I did not like that they were so miserable no smiles just blank I didn't like the experience or the feeling I felt when walking into the practise but the doctor was great.
