Mr Sakis Pollalis is a triple fellowship trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in all aspects of hip and knee disorders. He serves as a consultant at Wycombe General and Stoke Mandeville Hospitals, part of the Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust, and maintains a private practice at the Chiltern and Shelburne Hospitals in Buckinghamshire.
His expertise includes primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgeries, with a particular interest in minimally invasive partial knee replacement surgery. He is also proficient in arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery.
Mr. Pollalis is recognised for his rapid recovery and day-case hip and knee replacement expertise. He has led the development and delivery of the rapid recovery joint replacement pathway at Buckinghamshire NHS Trust. Over the past two years, more than 50 of his patients have been discharged on the same day following hip or knee replacement surgery. This pathway incorporates the latest research on preoperative preparation, intraoperative muscle-sparing techniques, postoperative multimodal pain relief, and early mobilisation.
Graduating from Athens Medical School in 2002, Mr Pollalis completed his specialist trauma and orthopaedic training in Athens and Oxford. During his training, he gained extensive experience in the full spectrum of elective and emergency orthopaedic conditions.
He pursued extensive specialist fellowship training in joint replacement, working with some of the UK's leading surgeons in hip and knee surgery. At Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, he expanded his experience in primary and revision hip and knee surgery, particularly with the designer group of the Oxford Partial Knee Replacement. He completed a second high-volume specialist fellowship at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and a third fellowship at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, focusing on complex joint and bone problems, including metastatic bone disease surgery.
Mr Pollalis has a robust research background, with numerous publications and presentations on hip and knee problems and enhanced recovery after surgery, both in the UK and internationally.
Mr Pollalis is also the Educational Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and regularly participates in the ARCP panel, assessing the annual progression of orthopaedic trainees in the Oxford Deanery.

Mr Sakis Pollalis is professional and clear when explaining procedures and recovery to his patients. Patients express strong confidence in his surgical expertise, reporting successful outcomes, reduced pain, and improved mobility post-operation. Many commend the comprehensive pre-operative information, excellent post-operative support, and efficient recovery plans, which contribute to rapid rehabilitation. Patient feedback highlights successful hip replacement and partial knee replacement surgery.
I needed right knee arthroscopy and a partial meniscectomy, due to discomfort and difficulty carrying out some aspects of my job. Mr Pollallis put me at ease straight away and fully explained the procedure, the aid of a model knee was really useful for me to fully understand the injury I had. The date of the surgery was arranged around my commitments and worked perfectly. On the day of the Surgery Mr Pollalis visited me and again I felt reassured and confident about the procedure he was about to undertake on my knee. The surgery went well and on our next meeting Mr Pollalis was able to explain what he found and the subsequent actions he then carried out to repair the damage. The small “keyholes” have healed really nicely and are now hardly visible. I am not hoping to have any further Orthopaedic Surgery but if I do Mr Pollalis will be my first choice and I fully recommend him as an Orthopaedic Surgeon.
I found Mr Pollalis to be very professional, understanding and extremely clear and communicative in his assessment. Very easy to talk too and there is no feeling of being rushed in any of the appointments I had. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Pollalis to anyone that asked.
My Consultant was very professional and kind mannered each time I saw him, both in consultation and on the day of my operation. I am thrilled with my treatment and the outcome and am so grateful . My life has been transformed by this hip replacement.
I have been so delighted with my hip replacement. I have not experienced any pain or sickness following the operation. The surgery went really well - I have total feeling in my feet and can move with a completely normal gait. The operation scar is very neat and has healed very well. I have been very well supported throughout my recovery - the team have been responsive and helpful.
It felt great to shake Mr Pollalis’ hand at my 6-week check up following my hip replacement operation. After 18 months of pain & limping I can now stride out for a walk, totally pain-free, which feels fantastic. I’m so grateful to Mr Pollalis, his team & the NHS - I can’t wait to get my life back on track!
Excellent service Mr Pollalis has been absolutely brilliant from start to finish I cannot fault him or his team thank you
From my first meeting with Mr Pollalis I had confidence that this was the consultant that I wanted to operate on my knee for a unilateral knee replacement.
Mr Pollalis reviewed my hip replacement at the 6 week stage. He was pleased with progress and took time to explain the procedure and show me the x ray images of the hips. It was a pleasure to meet him again and his friendly,, professional manner was a delight.
Mr Pollalis was very complimentary on the state of my recovery and checked both for any residual infection and the knee mobility. He also provided some good advice on the approach for my other knee. I would be very happy to recommend him to others requiring similar surgery.
A fine surgeon
