Dr James Robertson is an experienced General Practitioner with additional expertise in Sports and Exercise Medicine. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2010 with an MBChB and BMedSci and completed his foundation training in Glasgow, rotating through a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. He went on to spend several years working in Australia in Emergency and Rural Medicine.
On returning to Edinburgh in 2015, Dr Robertson completed his GP training and has since worked as both an NHS GP and a Specialty Doctor in Accident & Emergency. His clinical practice is rooted in continuity of care, collaborative decision-making and supporting patients to achieve treatment plans that align with their individual needs and lifestyle.
Dr Robertson has a particular interest in sports medicine, shaped in part by his own background as a keen rugby player. He has completed multiple postgraduate qualifications in Sports Medicine and has worked with elite athletes across several sports, including football, gymnastics and golf. He has notable expertise in concussion diagnosis and management, and works regularly with Scottish Rugby. He is the Team Doctor for the Scotland U18 squad and provides match-day medical cover for Edinburgh Rugby and Scotland international games.

I had a consultation with Dr James Robertson regarding a possible heart rhythm anomaly. He was very thorough in his examination and also very compassionate. I am 75 so have met many doctors during my life and I have to say that he was one of the best if not the best.
