About Mr Richard Flint

Mr Richard Flint is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with NHS and private practices. He works at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and sees private patients at LIPS Healthcare, Battersea Power Station in London.

He graduated from Cardiff Medical School and completed postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the South London Deanery. He undertook two advanced fellowships: one in Urogynaecology at King’s College Hospital and another in advanced robotic gynaecological surgery at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Mr Flint is experienced in the management of a wide range of benign gynaecological conditions, including endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometrial polyps, menstrual disorders, abnormal uterine and intermenstrual bleeding, menopause, contraception, and fertility investigations. He also has expertise in the diagnosis of endometrial cancers and in carrying out gynaecology and early pregnancy ultrasounds.

As part of the emergency gynaecology team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, he provides urgent care for patients with acute gynaecological issues and early pregnancy complications. He is also a member of the minimal access surgery team, performing advanced robotic and laparoscopic procedures for complex benign conditions. In his role as Gynaecology Sedation Lead, he supports advanced hysteroscopic surgery, offering both awake and sedated outpatient care.

Mr Flint has been recognised for his patient care with two PROUD Awards from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and contributed to the team that won the hospital’s “Great Big Cheer” award for excellence in robotic gynaecological surgery. Alongside his clinical work, he is an examiner at Imperial College Medical School and trains junior doctors in hysteroscopic, laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He is also a certified Immediate Life Support trainer.

He has published widely in the fields of urogynaecology and minimal access surgery and regularly presents his research at international conferences.

I’m a 32-year-old woman with PCOS and infertility challenges, and I was recently diagnosed with a large uterine fibroid. I was referred to Dr Flint for further evaluation and to discuss my treatment options. He was incredibly thorough, arranging detailed scans, tests, and blood work to fully understand my condition. During our consultations, he explained the findings clearly and comprehensively. At first, I was uncertain about whether to proceed with a myomectomy, but his expertise, care, and attention to detail gave me the confidence and understanding I needed to make the right decision for myself—to go ahead with the surgery. Dr Flint performed the myomectomy smoothly and successfully, and my recovery has been going very well. I’m truly grateful to Dr Flint and his team. The procedure has not only addressed the fibroid but also preserved my fertility, which means so much to me. Mentally, it already feels life-changing, and I feel motivated to move forward with a healthier, more positive outlook.

Mr Flint was exceptional throughout my care. Although he had difficult news to share, he delivered it with calmness, clarity, and compassion, which I truly appreciated. I’m especially grateful that he took the time to call the night before the op to ensure I’d taken medication correctly as instructions were muddled. He even went out of his way to visit me after my operation in recovery. He wanted to personally tell me the op couldn’t be done (one of the potential scenarios and assured me I had good, safe options). He gave me a hug - he offered such genuine kindness which made a real difference. I never felt like just a number; I felt genuinely seen and heard, something that can feel all too rare in women’s healthcare.

Mr Flint was professional, kind and a very caring Dr. He explained my procedure clearly and was very informative. We discussed recovery in great detail and left me feeling positive about having a hysterectomy. He answered all of the questions I raised and left me feeling confident about the level of care I would receive. My experience under Mr Flint has simply been superb and I would happily recommend him. In the follow up appointment he explained the histology report in great detail. Thank you Mr Flint for taking on my case. It has been truly life changing for me.

I was recently referred to Mr Flint for a hysteroscopy and was very impressed with the care I received. He kindly accommodated me at short notice and was both professional and compassionate throughout. As I was quite nervous, I really appreciated the time he took to explain everything clearly beforehand and to talk me through each step during the procedure. His genuine care and reassuring manner made the experience much easier, and I would not hesitate to recommend him.
