About Miss Heena Mehra
Miss Heena Mehra is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 20 years of experience in the field. She has been serving at University Hospital Lewisham since 2021, where she brings a wealth of expertise to the women she treats.
Miss Mehra completed her medical education in India, graduating in 2004. She furthered her training with a postgraduate qualification in Master of Surgery (MS) before moving to the UK, where she obtained Membership with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2015. Her advanced training includes a specialisation in early pregnancy ultrasound scanning and the management of acute gynaecological conditions, which she completed at King's College London.
At University Hospital Lewisham, Miss Mehra leads several specialist clinics. These include early pregnancy assessments, fertility investigations such as tubal patency clinics (Hycosy), one-stop diagnostic gynaecology services, and outpatient hysteroscopy clinics. Her clinical practice covers a broad range of benign gynaecological conditions, including the diagnosis and management of fibroids, endometrial polyps, contraception advice, fertility issues, menopause, menstrual disorders, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and endometrial cancers.
In addition to her clinical work, Miss Mehra is actively engaged in the regional development of gynaecology services within the South East London Network. She plays a significant role in Clinical Governance for gynaecology and is currently the risk lead for Gynaecology at University Hospital Lewisham. Her commitment to education is evident in her involvement in teaching and training junior doctors, ensuring that her knowledge and practice remain aligned with the latest evidence-based medicine in women’s health.

Miss Mehra is my consultant and performed my total abdominal hysterectomy. She has done a wonderful job. She is incredibly skilled and her surgical skills are excellent. She kept me informed and despite me delaying the surgery for almost a year, Miss Mehra was very understanding and did not put any pressure on me to do the surgery. She gave me all the information I needed and allowed me time to digest and come to my own informed decision. Miss Mehra made me feel genuinely looked after and was very empathetic, calm and reassuring. Despite my anxiety and nerves about the surgery, I am truly thankful for her profressionalism and kindness throughout the whole process. Miss Mehra has also recommended alternative treatment for my symptoms post surgery and has also offered to see me to ensure continuity of care.

Went in for biopsies due to thickening of the lining of the womb. I’ve seldom met a doctor with thus level of experience and knowledge combined with a care and calmness that really puts you as a patient at ease knowing you’re in good hands. These biopsies hurt a bit but I felt calm and ready thanks to Dr Mehra
