I recently had surgery on Friday the 13th at the Day Surgery Unit (Pod 2) at St Joseph’s Hospital, and I cannot speak highly enough of the care I received. This date was particularly emotional for me, as it is the anniversary of losing my sister to mental health, so I was already extremely anxious before even arriving. On top of this, I had been suffering with endometriosis symptoms for several years and was worried about the possible diagnosis. From the moment Nurse Zoe greeted me, she immediately made me feel calm, safe, and supported. Her empathy, kindness, and attentiveness were exceptional. She recognised how anxious I was, especially about needles, and gently guided me through breathing techniques to help regulate myself. I was so nervous I couldn’t even sit down initially, but she remained patient, compassionate, and completely non-judgmental, even when I felt embarrassed. Her care meant more than I can put into words. My consultant, Dr Anthony Griffiths, was equally outstanding. He truly listened, showed genuine understanding, and made me feel heard and believed for the first time. His calm, down-to-earth manner immediately reassured me. Knowing that my endometriosis was found and excised gives me real hope for a future with fewer painful flare-ups, and I am incredibly grateful for his expertise and care. The overall experience was excellent. Waiting times were minimal, everything was efficient and well organised, and my private room was comfortable and well equipped, including a TV and everything I needed to feel at ease. My only small suggestion would be regarding the surgery bed in my pod, which didn’t lower enough for me to get off easily after the procedure, leaving my legs still dangling slightly. This made getting down a bit more difficult whilst recovering. Aside from this minor point, the care I received was exceptional. I am deeply grateful to the entire team, especially Nurse Zoe and Dr Griffiths, for their compassion, professionalism, and genuine kindness on what was a very difficult and emotional day for me.

Mr Tapan Sircar

I first met Mr Sircar after being diagnosed with Lobular carcinoma breast cancer. I was obviously very scared and very anxious about how my future would look and what treatment I would be offered. I can honestly say that straight away Mr Sircar made me feel at ease and most importantly safe. He was respectful, gentle and genuinely caring, my anxious nature makes me joke a lot and thankfully Mr Sircar would laugh along with me helping make the whole experience feel more comfortable. Mr Sircar explained everything clearly, in a way that I understood and so that I could retain it. Mr Sircar gave me all the options along with his recommendations, he truly listened to me and as my tests and treatment continued I felt he knew what I would prefer before I had to say anything. I truly believe He did exactly what was right not just for my health but also for my family. I had a masectomy and reconstruction of my right breast with lymph nodes biopsy along with a reduction of my left breast. A few weeks later I required an axillary lymph nodes clearance after cancer was found in the biopsy. For both surgeries Mr Sircar explained everything in clear details and made sure I was fully aware of any risks that may come with the procedure. Natural I was nervous but again He gave me plenty of reassurance and I felt like I was safe in his hands. Which clearly I was as surgeries went exactly to plan and I'm happy to say that the healing process was equally as successful. At each follow up appointment he was just as attentive, listened to any concerns and acted accordingly weather that was words for reassurance, examination, advice for treatment and so forth. I would 1000% recommend anyone to Mr Sircar and his team and am happy to continue my treatment with my oncologist he sign posted me to.

He guided me through all my pre-surgical appointments, ensuring everything was well organized and clearly explained. I’m honestly blown away by the care I received. Mo was professional, funny, warm and not at all pushy. He welcomed my adult daughter to join us for the assessment, which meant a lot, because hearing loss affects family more than we realise. The hearing test results were more advanced than I’ve ever had - Mo even showed me the letters of the alphabet that I’d struggle to hear because of my level of hearing loss. I went in fully intending to buy, but Mo insisted I wear a pair for a month free of charge before committing, just to make sure they were right for me. That gave me real confidence. Another bonus is that VIP are £2,000 cheaper than another hearing centre down the road for exactly the same hearing aids. I must also mention the lovely Lucy. She is incredibly supportive and nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend VIP to anyone considering hearing aids.

I went to have a lipoma excised by Dr. Akhtar. He was excellent, professional, kind, sensitive and competent. We goto there at 12:30 and I was operated on at 3:00, which is what I was told. Afterwards it took a long time to get the discharge papers. we didn't leave until 5:30. I would have thought we could have left soon afterwards and have them email the papers to me, but they didn't. Overall it was a good experience, mainly because of the surgeon. I do have one suggestion, though. I was very glad to have as snack a sandwich and something else, but what I was given was thin white sliced bread with a thin thin layer of tuna, a bag of crisps and two packets of biscuits. It would have been better to have something healthy - but otherwise all good. The nurses and assistants were all top-notch.

Mr Joseph Manjaly

I had a number of consultations and eventually underwent tympanoplasty surgery. This was a particularly delicate situation since I work as a musician and preserving my hearing was critical. Mr Manjaly was very understanding of my situation and made sure all the risks were fully considered before moving forwards with the surgery. My low frequency hearing loss was restored following the operation and the risk of infection now that the hole in my ear drum is fixed is significantly lower, so the ideal outcome was achieved. I wouldn't hesitate to see Mr Manjaly again in future if necessary and would highly recommend him to others.

I felt that I was in very good hands throughout with Mr Khan. He has a friendly and relaxed manner and I found him very easy to talk to and to ask all of the questions I had without feeling rushed at all. I had chosen to be treated privately because I wanted to be able to have the widest possible choice of lenses and the chance of not needing glasses at all afterwards. After the initial consultation I felt confident that Mr Khan had understood my concerns and had helped me to make the best choice for me. It is now 5 weeks since I had my second eye operated on and I am delighted with the results.

If you’re struggling with any physical and/or emotional issues I highly recommend Dr Ben. He was the 3rd doctor I saw and I wish he was the first. I was really in a difficult place and after my visit with him I felt so much better. I feel like I have my life back after a very traumatic period. I felt like I couldn’t talk about my problems even with my closest friends and wasn’t even sure I could tell Dr Ben but within a few minutes sitting in his office I felt comfortable enough to talk. Thankfully there is help you just need to find it!

The process explained by Mr Dowen went exactly as described and planned. Pre and post care was excellent. As a result of which I am now on the waiting list for my other knee and I am not worried about it at all. I would advise anyone who needs this operation to have it done, but you must follow the medical advice, pre and post procedure to the letter. I am walking unaided after 7 weeks which I never thought would be possible.

The problem i had was in trying to contact your Thorpe Park Office by telephone. When I first phoned I was told I was 10th in the queue. I requested al call back by dialling 1 After 2 hours I got a call back saying I was no 1 in the queue this rang for 15 minutes so I rang again dialling 1 and again no pick up I tried again the next day with the same result I eventually called in person to try to make an appointment
