Mr Vinod Menon

Mr Vinod Menon is a highly experienced consultant general, upper GI, bariatric and laparoscopic surgeon with private practices at The Droitwich Spa Hospital and The Meriden Hospital. His primary interests and skills are in benign and malignant oesophageal and stomach disorders such as reflux disease, hiatal hernia, achalasia, gall bladder disease, and Upper GI Endoscopy. He also carries out bariatric and metabolic surgery on a regular basis (gastric band, balloon, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass). Mr Menon has performed more than 1000 bariatric and 300 oesophageal cancer operations with excellent outcomes. He is dedicated to providing his patients with the best care possible in a safe environment and empowering people affected by obesity.

Mr Menon graduated from the University of Kerala in India in 1989 before completing his basic surgical training in 1992 (MS General Surgery), and his higher surgical training on the Welsh Higher Surgical Training Scheme (CCST). He was then appointed Consultant Upper GI, Laparoscopic, and General Surgeon at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire in 2002. From 2008 to 2019, Mr Menon was the Clinical Director of General Surgery, Vascular, Urology, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Gastro-enterology at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust.

Mr Menon is also an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Warwick and Honorary Secretary of the British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society. He also serves on the Council of the Association of Upper GI Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (AUGIS) and the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
