Mr Hosam Serag

Mr Hosam Serag is a Consultant Urological Surgeon based at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, with private practices at the Priory Hospital and Harborne Hospital in Birmingham. He began his foundational medical training across Cambridge, Bristol, and Newport before joining the UK national urology training programme. Mr Serag earned his MRCS, FRCS (Urol), and FEBU qualifications in 2018, which led to his completion in specialist urology training.

In 2019, he enhanced his expertise through a uro-oncology fellowship at the University of British Columbia and Vancouver General Hospital in Canada. There he gained extensive experience in complex open cancer resections and advanced robotic surgery. Upon returning to the UK, he established a tertiary referral practice at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, focusing on urological cancers, particularly advanced renal, Testicular and retroperitoneal cancers.

His clinical skills include major open cancer surgeries, as well as laparoscopic and robotic procedures such as robotic partial nephrectomy and nephrectomy. Mr Serag’s expertise also covers testicular, bladder, and prostate cancers, along with common urological conditions like hydrocele, scrotal lumps, foreskin problems and urethral strictures. As well as this Mr Serag has contributed to multiple academic publications, authored treatment guidelines, and written a book chapter on kidney cancer.
