Interpersonal communication with the Dr felt tense, dismissive and confusing. asking me if I’m prepared for examination and that it was sent in a letter 3 months ago which when looking at the wording says “potential examination at next visit” with no instructions on preparing or what the examination entails, I still don’t really know what he meant because it was then dismissed that he won’t do it then but I’m u sure on how I was meant to be prepared beyond being there in person, the conversation made me flustered and if he’d just started that conversation saying he’d like to do the examination rather than talking about the 3 month old letter and me feeling like I’d missed something because he couldn’t tell me the date of the letter beyond it was send to my email there and then so it felt like a pointless and wasteful conversation because the letter was just stating it rather than necessary preparation information. It felt like a waste of time and the last time I saw him he was very dismissive of me telling him wider symptoms that feel related to why I was there it was very undermining and made me feel stupid for saying things that could actually be related to the main symptoms and relevant for him to know. I’m unsure if his attitude was dismissive because it was relating to women’s health issues but as someone working with women’s health patients it’s a common experience unfortunately. A note to add, I believe my first meeting with him probably wasn’t helped by the fact I was 10 minutes late despite parking up with plenty time however Canterbury hospital is so big and with no directions I got very lost finding the right area and I had to ask 2 members of staff to find it, now knowing it’s simple and more direction information in advance could have avoided this. Overall not a great experience.

I wanted to share & express my upmost gratitude for the treatment and care delivered to my son on 20th September 2025 who has Neurodiverse needs. Spencer hospital and all the staff were absolutely fantastic in supporting him through his recent gallbladder removal surgery. Every care and attention was given to him from the moment we were referred, to pre consultation and pre operative assessment to the moment he was discharged after a successful surgery. Mr Boshnaq and his medical team did an amazing job, reassuring us every step of the way and fully explained procedures and took their time to ensure we both felt comfortable. I really cannot thank everyone enough, nurses porters etc… This is what great care looks like and I wish every NHS experience could be as positive. Thank you, you made what could have been a terribly traumatic experience for my son into a calm and gentle process and I feel truly blessed to have such a great hospital, with caring and competent staff in my home town.

I would like to thank Mr Tom Holland for his excellent care throughout my diagnosis and treatment for endometriosis. From the first consultation, he clearly explained the ultrasound results and outlined what he expected to find during surgery, which was almost exactly what he discovered when operating. Mr Holland also took time to explore all available treatment options and was supportive of the path I chose. He ensured I understood each step and never made me feel pressured in my decisions. His calm and reassuring manner made a significant difference, especially when I was feeling anxious before surgery. He was always available to answer questions and provided excellent post-operative care. I felt fully supported throughout my recovery. I am very grateful for Mr Holland’s professionalism, communication, and kindness, which made the whole process much easier. I had my first lidocaine infusion yesterday and honestly couldn’t have felt more looked after. Dr Chowdrey explained everything so clearly, the good, the risks, and what to expect, and really took the time to make sure I understood it all. I mentioned I have ADHD and he instantly adjusted his approach which made me feel comfortable and at ease. The nursing team were lovely, calm and attentive, especially considering my heart condition. Nothing felt rushed and I genuinely felt that my care and safety were the main focus throughout. After years of chronic pain from a car accident, it was such a relief to finally feel listened to and in safe hands. Thank you to Dr Chowdrey and the team for making what could have been a daunting experience feel so calm and reassuring. I don’t want to sound too positive though, as I’d quite like to be able to get back in to see him again! 😅

Four front teeth (old root canal treatment) replaced with a two implant bridge. Whole process clearly and patiently explained in a very friendly but professional manner and followed through as explained. As a nervous dental patient I was particularly impressed with the ease and remarkable effectiveness of the conscious sedation I was offered. During the normal short interval between surgery and final teeth, a temporary bridge is (instantly) fitted; these are effective but, by design, less sturdy. I cracked one on a nut and Vermillion were easily able to replace it as part of their service the same day with no inconvenience or fuss - very reassuring. My new final teeth fit well, feel and look natural, and bring a tremendous relief at not having to constantly worry or feel pain from my old ones. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

I went for an annual review. The only change this time was that I was charged £100 for the hearing test. I assume this is because the hearing aid is out of warranty. Whilst I don't mind paying this, it was not made clear to me that there was a cost beforehand, which it would have been nice to have known - though it wouldn't have altered my appointment!

The visit was good but the extra costs on top of a consultation I think is not made clear. I do not know how an ENT specialist is expected to check your ears, nose or throat without looking into them and so my feedback is just include that in the price initially to save the confusion. The specialist was friendly and helpful so no slight on them.
