Jay was great with my daughter and explained everything really well for me. I left feeling confident I’d understood her situation and she was excited to come again in 6 months.

As the parent of two children with OCA with Nystagmus, I have seen many ophthalmologists both in the U.K. and when we lived in the USA. Mr Self has that rare ability to help a parent understand how their child is affected in their daily life by their specific condition. So many specialists can diagnose and tell you facts/statistics but Mr Self was able to help me to better understand the practical meaning of my children’s condition so that I could help them navigate the demands of school and anticipate hurdles so that they could have the most independent lives they could given their condition.

Mr. Self has always been kind, informative and helpful. He has explained my condition to me so I can fully understand the science behind it and how it affects me in my daily life. He has always helped me when trying to fight for equality and understanding of my condition through my school and university career, for which I am extremely grateful.

We were really pleased on how the appointment went. James was very engaging with our little one and explained the course of action to us parents clearly in laymen terms.

My beautiful son unfortunately has multiple severe health conditions and is therefore under numerous consultants. Whilst they are incredible as was Dr Self, he gave us the (I find rare) feeling we could ask anything without feeling as though under time constraint and ensured I fully understood what I came in for prior to leaving. Also really appreciated such a warm approach to both myself as the parent but obviously Dylan.
