I attended my post‑operative review with Mr Hosam E. Matar following my recent surgery. The appointment was thorough, reassuring, and clearly focused on ensuring my recovery is progressing as expected. Mr Matar reviewed my symptoms, mobility, wound healing, and overall progress in detail. He explained each aspect of the recovery process in a clear and understandable way, taking the time to answer all questions without rushing. His manner was calm, professional, and supportive, which made it easy to discuss any concerns. He assessed the surgical site carefully and confirmed that healing is on track. He also outlined the next steps in my rehabilitation, including what activities I can safely resume, what to avoid, and what signs to monitor as I continue to recover. The guidance was practical and tailored to my situation. Overall, the review was extremely positive. Attended for a blood test. I’ve had multiple bad experiences with blood tests over the years. This is primarily because I have very small and narrow veins which disappear with the touch of a needle..☹️ I find the whole experience extremely painful and distressing … I explained all of this to Debbie, the wonderful and kind nurse who attended me. She was brilliant! Totally put me at ease and was incredibly supportive and gentle. I was definitely a challenge for her as my veins were completely uncooperative per usual. But she took her time and used the smallest needle possible to minimise any discomfort. She succeeded in the end and managed to get enough blood for a full blood count!! Miraculous! I am so very grateful to Debbie for turning a potentially very upsetting and negative experience into a positive outcome. She has helped me to regain a little more confidence in having my blood taken again. Thank you Debbie! 😊

I had an initial consultation for varicose vein treatment (following a flyer in the post) and following further investigations/diagnosis I went ahead and had an operation. The whole experience from beginning to end was first class. Everything was fully explained to me and all my questions were answered before deciding on the most appropriate treatment. The operation (under local anaesthetic) went well with a nurse talking to me all the time and explaining everything which was happening as as well as distracting me! My recovery went as planned - and as explained - and a follow up visit to see the consultant was very reassuring. All in all I was very pleased with everything and would not hesitate in recommending Shepton Mallet Hospital.

Steve is excellent. Personable and very professional and clearly knows his stuff. He operated on our son following a shoulder dislocation playing rugby. Throughout the process, Steve was clear with the surgical options and very thorough in his explanations, particularly understanding with the emotions of a teenager and his desperation to be back on the pitch again. He has a friendly manner and was always quick to answer extra questions we had between consultations. He did an excellent surgical job on our son and we’d have no hesitation in recommending him. I didnt visit a practice, this was a blood test that was sent by post to me with an at home kit. So my rating is based on the blood test. I will visit a practice in early February to do a skin check. But everything was packed securely and sent quickly, and you appear to have received it very quickly and given me a result within a day of receiveing my blood, which I fully appreciate. The only thing I would mention about the process was the amount of blood I could get out of three fingers was less than what you asked for. Luckily it was enough for you to do the test.

Fortunately, Plan A worked within just three days, and I’m now pain‑free. We’re now focusing on preventing any future flare‑ups. Professor Chinoy made me feel completely at ease and genuinely listened to my experience and concerns. His explanation of the diagnosis and treatment options was clear, thorough, and delivered in straightforward, easy‑to‑understand language, which I really appreciated.

The nursing team were attentive and supportive, helping manage pain and early mobility. The hospital was clean, calm, and well‑organised, making the whole process smooth from admission to discharge. Very happy to see Miss Fraser 6 weeks after my fascial sling which has completely stopped my stress incontinence .
