About Dr. Robbie McNeil

Dr Robbie McNeil is a Consultant Haematologist who graduated in medicine (MBChB) from the University of Glasgow in 2006. During his undergraduate training, he also completed a two-year intercalated BSc (Hons) in Immunology in 2004. He was awarded an Otago Scholarship in 2005, which allowed him to study in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Following qualification, Dr McNeil undertook postgraduate medical training in the West of Scotland, working across a range of city and district general hospitals. This provided broad internal medicine experience before he specialised in haematology.

As a Consultant Haematologist, Dr McNeil has a wide clinical and laboratory interest in blood disorders, with particular expertise in complex diagnostic haematology. His outpatient clinics focus on comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing consultant-led follow-up where required, with an emphasis on continuity of care and clear discussion of treatment options with patients.

Patients consult him for a range of blood problems including:

  • Anaemia (low haemoglobin)
  • Polycythaemia (high haemoglobin)
  • Lymphadenopathy (enlarged lymph glands)
  • Splenomegaly (enlarged spleen)
  • DVT anticoagulation discussion

I had a consultation with regards to blood tests taken by my own GP and went for a private examination due to results found.

Dr Robbie McNeil was excellent in all aspects - his extremely caring nature, his persistence at getting my condition diagnosed (which took a number of tests and a number of discussions with my insurer), his clear explanation about what it meant and then his referrals onto the right areas were quick and accurate. Would definitely recommend using him if the need arises.
