About Mr Anjum Rashid

Mr Anjum Rashid is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is Clinical Lead for Foot and Ankle Surgery at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and treats both NHS and private patients across the North East.

Following advanced fellowship training in London and Newcastle, he has developed extensive experience across the full spectrum of foot and ankle surgery. His specialist interests include minimally invasive bunion surgery, sports injuries, ankle arthroscopy, ligament and Achilles tendon reconstruction, foot and ankle arthritis, total ankle replacement, complex deformity correction and trauma reconstruction. Wherever possible, he aims to preserve joint function and restore mobility.

Mr Rashid is actively involved in orthopaedic education, research and service development. He also has an established medico-legal practice, providing independent expert opinion for claimants and defendants in personal injury and clinical negligence cases involving the foot and ankle.

His approach is centred on careful assessment, clear explanations and treatment tailored to each patient’s symptoms, lifestyle and goals. Non-operative care is recommended where appropriate, with surgery considered when it is likely to provide meaningful benefit.

I was given a clear and thorough explanation of the arthritis affecting both of my big toes and the middle of my feet, as well as the flattening of one foot. I felt listened to and fully informed about the available treatment options. We are starting with conservative treatment, and I am very happy with the care and advice I received.

I had ongoing ankle pain and was treated with a simple injection. My pain has virtually disappeared and I am now back to normal activities. I am very happy with the treatment and the excellent improvement it has made.

Before my ankle replacement, I was in constant pain and struggling to walk or do my physical job. Since having surgery in February, I am pain-free, have excellent movement and am back at work, even climbing ladders without difficulty. I am extremely happy with the result and would highly recommend Mr Rashid and his team.

Many years ago, I had both of my big toe joints fused under the care of another surgeon. Unfortunately, I continued to experience significant pain, even after the metalwork was later removed. Mr Rashid subsequently revised one of the previously fused big toe joints to a Silastic joint replacement. I have been extremely pleased with the result, with very good movement in the joint and very little discomfort. I am now looking forward to having the same procedure on my other foot and am very happy with the care, explanations and treatment I have received.
