    Mr Mark Farndon

    Orthopaedic Surgeon

    5.0

    Verified

Upon rupturing my achilles tendon, I spoke with several specialists and surgeons regarding the best move forward. I am a 33 year old male who's life revolves around physical activity, so trusting the Doctor and the proposed treatment was a huge deal for me. Within a few minutes of meeting Mr Farndon, I was confident I wanted to work with him. Previous specialists had immediately pushed me towards either a conservative or surgical approach, and the information they gave me was weighted towards the approach they clearly wanted me to take. Mark's approach was completely different. He gave me all the pros and cons to each approach and shared information that clearly considered my age, lifestyle and the sort of recovery I was hopeful for. Once I had this information he made it clear that the decision was mine, which he then gave me the confidence that this was a good decision. The surgery itself was first class. I have (unfortunately) had other major surgeries for sporting injuries, and everything about the procedure and follow up appointments was done to the upmost level of professionalism. I am now 5 months post surgery and already able to do single leg calf raises to the same level as my non-injured leg - a big test in return to full recovery and ability to start running again and the final phase of my rehabilitation program. I couldn't be happier with how the surgery has gone, and couldn't recommend Mark more highly for his professionalism, expertise and character. Thank you Mark and the wider Circle Health Group team. Tom

I think Dr Sharma herself was really excellent. But I found the admin around the appointment quite disorganised. I phoned to ask if all I needed was my Axa claim number but couldn't get through on the phone, so I left a voice message, but no one got back to me. So when I arrived for my appointment I specifically asked the receptionist if that was all they needed, and she said yes. And yet I later got a text message asking me for my Axa membership number too. Quite frankly, the message looked like a scam. It came from an 07 number, there was very little information in the message (perhaps for privacy reasons), with no mention of the hospital or Dr Sharma, and it did not address me by my name. It also mentioned phf.uk.com, which had not been in any of the previous information I had received. I phoned the hospital and thankfully someone did answer this time, and it was the woman who had sent the text message. I raised similar concerns to those outlined above, but she did not seem to understand or care, and her tone made me think she thought I was stupid for not magically understanding how things work internally. Again, Dr Sharma was really excellent, so I hope the admin side of things can be improved.

I had a Rhinoplasty here with Lucian Ion. I'm grateful to all of the staff at the hospital for making my stay so comfortable; the room was clean and comfortable, and whenever I needed help the nurses were quick and helpful, plus the food was really good. The surgery and anaesthetic itself went smoothly, and it was re-assuring to talk to both surgeon (Mr Ion) and anaesthetist (Dr Warwick Marchant) beforehand, and then see Mr Ion multiple times after the surgery. When I was soon to be discharged from the hospital I momentarily (for a few minutes) felt very rough; the hospital staff were really friendly and there wasn't any rush to discharge. One thing I did note is that there wasn't always complete consistency between the surgeon and the hospital, e.g. on the admission time, or on how to clean the wounds, so I would suggest trying to improve this (the patient, at least speaking for myself, isn't always a reliable intermediary), however this was a very minor issue.

    Mr Rufus Cartwright

I had been told of Mr Cartwright's excellent reputation, and I found him very approachable. He laid out the alternative treatments available for my condition (a uterine prolapse); as my age would preclude my having a general anaesthetic, he explained that I could have an operation under epidural anaesthesia if I felt comfortable with the idea of being awake throughout. At my age I must consider that it could take six weeks to recover fully. He suggested we meet again in two months time, and in the meantime I should undertake a course of physiotherapy that might make me feel that I could manage without undergoing surgery. All of this advice has helped me to see the options more clearly, and whether or not I undergo surgery l the physiotherapy exercises will be of benefit. I feel I can trust Mr Cartwright completely to guide me towards choosing the best solution for me.

Mr Baker and his entire team have been incredible from the minute I was referred to him. 42 yes old diagnosed with DCIS and requiring a mastectomy and did not want an implant. Mr Baker took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure of a reconstruction using my own body tissue. Making sure it was the right decision for me. No question was too small. I went into surgery with absolute confidence I was in the best hands. The precision of the surgery is so impressive. My scar sits neatly under my new breast along the natural crease. Unless I lift my arm, even I cannot see it when I look at myself in the mirror. I was terrified when I got my diagnosis. That fear vanished after my first meeting with Mr Baker. He gave me and my husband all the confidence.we needed to move forward.

Mr Armstrong is very professional, personable and liked by everyone I've encountered who works with him along my journey be that receptionists, nurses and the anesthesiologist team. His bedside manner is excellent and always asking if I need anything explaining further or if I'm happy with what's been discussed and decided on. He will give you the option to tell him your expectations and then tell you if it's surgically possible or not but ultimately the last say from what I understand is down to the patient. I wouldn't hesitate to book another surgery with Mr Armstrong if I wanted or needed it I feel 100% safe in his more than capable hands.

No problems with the medical teatment. Not sure why I was sent an invoice for medications some days after the treatment. It would have been much easier to pay in the hospital on the day. The invoice doesn't say if you can pay by card by phone or on line. This is a basic service these days. The menu offered for kosher food was limited and most of the items marked as being available weren't. If you're going to offer this service then you need to make sure you have available what you are offering - this is the private wing and one is paying for additional levels of service - not provided here.

The wait for assessment itself was shorter than expected. I found the forms confusing as I had a combined assessment and it was not clear that I had been sent two sets of forms as both were almost identical. I found contacting Skylight challenging as the call centre staff are hit and miss with how useful/friendly they are. The assessments were fine and as I expected them to be. The report took far longer to come in than I was lead to believe but when it did arrive it was thorough and very detailed which was impressive. All in all yes I would absolutely recommend Skylight to others.

I highly recommend Mr Hamoda. I saw him because I was considering HRT for extreme leg cramps, palpitations and difficulty sleeping. Mr Hamoda explained my options and risks in detail. He took time to make sure we covered everything, and he is very knowledgeable and forward thinking about perimenopause. I started oestrogen and progesterone and my cramps went away immediately and other symptoms improved a lot too. After having a terrible experience with the head of a menopause clinic who ranted about everyone trying to get HRT, I am so glad I tried again and found Mr Hamoda.

We had a really good experience with Mr Agrawal and the Hartswood Hospital. Everyone was really helpful and took care to ensure that Reg, who is 91 years old, understood what was going on and had everything he needed. Mr Agrawal had a very relaxed and professional manner and was easy to understand. He took time to carefully explain the procedure and what Reg needed to do prior to the operation. Mr Agrawal visited Reg, in the hospital, before and after the operation. He had a very nice manner and explained what was happening. Overall, we had an excellent experience.

Matt is a great listener and devised a personal physio plan for me to help with two MSK problems. The exercises have been really helpful and effective allowing me to return to the lifestyle that I enjoy in a fairly short period of time. Booking an appointment is online but changing and cancellation is easy. There is an assessment consultation and follow up after a suitable period of time. As soon as you are able to "go it alone" Matt will discharge you with an open return. All in all an experience that I can highly recommend for recalcitrant MSK problems.

I had an appointment to fit a Mirena IUS and Hysteroscopy procedure. The team were very kind and made an awkward situation as comfortable as possible. The room was well lit and there were enough people to ensure I was distracted and put at ease during the procedure. I felt safe. During the hysteroscopy to check that my womb was as expected, Mr Okorocha found a polyp in my cervix, which requires removal. He reassured me that this procedure will be scheduled shortly and at the same time, the IUS will be fitted to complete the initial procedure.

I was referred to Claire by my physio to further investigate ongoing back issues which we’d been unable to resolve with therapy. Claire was engaging, caring, easy to talk to and thorough in her questions of my medical history and checking of my joints; recommending bloods and an MRI which were quickly arranged. We talked over the results and I am now getting further treatment to solve the issue. I’m really glad I was referred to Claire and wouldn’t hesitate to go again if I had any further rheumatic-related problems.
