Dr Meghomala Das

Dr. Meghomala Das is a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist, specialising in the management of diabetic retinopathy, macular diseases, and retinal vascular disorders. With over 15 years in the field of Ophthalmology, Dr. Das has received extensive training in Glasgow and at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh.

Dr. Das is dedicated to advancing medical education and currently serves as an Educational Supervisor for Ophthalmology trainees in both Edinburgh and Fife. Her passion for teaching extends to undergraduate students as well, where she holds the position of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of Edinburgh Medical School. In her role within the NHS Lothian, Dr. Das is a member of the advisory group focused on improving the Macula and Medical Retina services, demonstrating her commitment to advancing patient care in her specialty.

Dr. Das has a particular interest in simulation-based training, specifically in the use of lasers for treating retinal diseases, which enhances the training and development of future ophthalmologists. Her dedication to research is evident through her numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and her presentations at national and international conferences. Currently, she is actively involved in research focusing on macular and retinal degeneration, contributing to the ongoing development of innovative treatments in her field.
