Review of Consultation with Mr. Paul Harnett (Cleveland Clinic Hospital) Having recently had a consultation and treatment with Mr. Paul Harnett, I wanted to share my honest experience. After sustaining a spinal injury abroad, I was advised by a chiropractor upon returning to the UK to have an MRI scan and seek further medical advice. I was recommended to see Mr. Harnett, as he is an orthopaedic trauma specialist. At my first consultation at Cleveland Clinic Hospital, I provided Mr. Harnett with my medical discharge note and CT scan images from abroad, which indicated two old spinal fractures (including at T12). Following this appointment, I underwent a thoracic and lumbar MRI. My follow-up consultation was conducted over the phone, during which I was informed that I had sustained a new fracture and was advised to rest for four weeks before gradually resuming normal movement and exercise. I later received a written report summarising the findings. However, I found the report somewhat unclear and lacking in detail. It also appeared inconsistent with the earlier CT findings. As a result, I contacted Mr. Harnett’s secretary to request another consultation for clarification. This was arranged for 15:30, but by 16:00, I had still not received a call. When I phoned the secretary, I was advised that he was running late. I had another meeting scheduled for 16:15, so we agreed to reschedule the consultation for 18:30. I eventually received the call at 19:15, which I found unacceptable given the lack of communication and delay. During the consultation, I found Mr. Harnett’s manner and engagement disappointing. He appeared disinterested and seemed eager to conclude the call quickly. I was verbally informed that the T12 fracture was actually new — which directly contradicted earlier information. When I asked for further advice regarding pain management and medication, I was advised to contact my GP. This was particularly disappointing, as I had chosen to go private with the expectation of receiving more comprehensive care and reassurance. In summary, I did not find my experience reassuring or helpful. Communication was inconsistent, and the overall approach left me without the clarity or confidence I had hoped for. I am now seeking a second opinion to gain a more detailed understanding of my condition and the best course of treatment going forward.

After my initial appointment I was given 2 codes to give to my insurance company, However when I phoned my insurer they said they could not cover one of the codes and I was to see if Kingsbridge could provide a different code . So for the next 3 weeks I was bounced back and forward between hospital and insurer. Every time I phoned Kingsbridge I was told someone would get back to me but they never did I always had to ring Kingsbridge back . At one point I was told to ring my insurer back and ask them why they wouldn't accept the code as they had used it before , and if they couldn't use that code which one could I use. As I am not medically trained I don't think it was up to me to chase up which codes they were accepting. Also my wife had sent Kingsbridge an email complaining about how much phoning back and forward was going on. Someone phoned her back the following evening, my daughter answered the phone and brought it to my wife , by this stage Kingsbridge had hung up and when we phoned back the line was closed . We finally got it sorted out but I really think Kingsbridge has a problem with there administration. When I went for my operation I got changed into my robes and waited for 2 hours before operation, which I don't mind but the room I was in was very cold . After operation I had to ask for heat to be put on in my room and ask for pain killers ,also I couldn't reach the buzzer to call nurse as it hadn't been set down on my bed so I had to shout for a nurse when I needed the toilet. As I'm happy enough to get operation done I really think the admin could do with a better system in replying to people quicker,

I have been under Miss Olson's care for approx. 6 years. During this time, I have received detailed advice and guidance relating to my diagnosis, with clear information relating to the possible resolutions and steps to take. This included counselling relating to the pros and cons of each step, including any side effects or potential long term effects. This resulted in me taking a step by step approach, starting with urethral dilation (alongside scoping), up to full urethroplasty. Throughout this time, Miss Olson and her team have supported me throughout. Whenever I have had a question or concern it has been answered. I have felt able to make informed decisions to aid my treatment, deciding what is best for me in that particular situation. Luckily, my urethroplasty was largely a success with a strong flow and a life changing ability to go to the toilet "like a normal person". Any side effects, such as a painful mouth post surgery and still some tingling, was fully understood beforehand due to the complexity of my surgery. However, Miss Olson and her team continue to support me. I cannot thank Miss Olson enough for understanding my circumstances, counselling and educating me, and giving me the utmost care. During my surgery, there was a slight delay with the procedure but Miss Olson and the wider team went above and beyond to rectify this. I have felt like the only patient on their caseload, and this is a testament to the teams professionalism and expertise.

I started seeing May, my wonderful therapist, after talking to the Rehubs team about the impact my addicted son was having on my health and well being. They recommended I speak with one of their addiction therapists. I was very sceptical at the start of the first session but soon realised that it was money well spent. May was a breath of fresh air, she knew from the outset what my issues were and my sessions with her were insightful and enlightening. She also gave me some very constructive and concrete techniques to help my deal with some of my day to day issues and she very much set me on the path to my own recovery. I was so pleased to have met May. She really is brilliant at her job. A great combination of empathy, telepathy, sympathy and most of all practical with advice that I could "easily" implement in my every day life. I recognise I still have some work to do but I am so grateful to May in her help with setting me on the right path. Thank you from all my heart.

Four front teeth (old root canal treatment) replaced with a two implant bridge. Whole process clearly and patiently explained in a very friendly but professional manner and followed through as explained. As a nervous dental patient I was particularly impressed with the ease and remarkable effectiveness of the conscious sedation I was offered. During the normal short interval between surgery and final teeth, a temporary bridge is (instantly) fitted; these are effective but, by design, less sturdy. I cracked one on a nut and Vermillion were easily able to replace it as part of their service the same day with no inconvenience or fuss - very reassuring. My new final teeth fit well, feel and look natural, and bring a tremendous relief at not having to constantly worry or feel pain from my old ones. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Ms See is such an incredibly processional, caring and warm surgeon. From my initial consultation, all the way through to post surgery follow ups - the information she provided was super clear. She was always very open to my questions and concerns. She really listened (and remembered!) in detail everything we had discussed over the weeks which is impressive. Her communication / emails / follow ups were always very detailed and prompt. From what can be quite a daunting and emotional experience - Ms See made me feel very calm throughout. I completely trust her and would highly recommend her to anyone. Ms See is a highly skilled surgeon and a generous, kind person.

Not much to say, she's straight to the point, makes you feel comfortable and makes sure to tell you everything you need to know about your condition/treatment. I had some cursory knowledge about a treatment option that she was willing to run me through a study to help me understand the relative risk of an outcome I was worried about, and options for monitoring it. She gave me a referral to another doctor over an issue she felt he was better equipped to handle which I followed up on and got the procedure done I needed thanks to that referral.

Mr. Patani is one of the kindest and most sincere doctors I’ve met. He took the time to explain my lumpectomy using sketches, which made everything easy to understand and put me completely at ease. The procedure went perfectly, and the scar is barely visible. He was so welcoming and assured me I could return any time if I had concerns. I’m so grateful for his care and skill.
