Dr Arani Sridhar

Dr Arani Sridhar is a very experienced Senior Consultant Paediatrician with over 33 yrs experience in Paediatrics currently based in Leicester, practising at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and seeing private patients at Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital. He completed his medical degree at Bangalore University, India in 1989, followed by several postgraduate qualifications.

In 1991 he received his Diploma in Child Health (DCH), from the University of Delhi. In 1994, he completed his MD in Paediatrics from the University of Madras. He received his Diplomate of the National Board of Paediatrics from the Ministry of Health, India in 1994. He worked as a senior Registrar in Paediatrics and later as a Lecturer in Paediatrics in Bangalore, India.

He later moved to the UK in 1996 and was awarded his Membership with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1997. He completed further speciality training in Paediatrics across the UK and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2004. In 2007, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.

Dr Sridhar has worked in a number of the UK's leading teaching hospitals, including Birmingham Children's Hospitals and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. He also held the role of Clinical Lead for the Children's Assessment Unit for several years. He was the Safeguarding Lead for Children for more than 10 yrs. He has been working as a Consultant in Paediatrics with Special Interest in Paediatric Rheumatology for the last 20 yrs. He was also the Clinical lead for Medical guidelines for > 13 yrs.

He was an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Leicester University from 2003-2022. Currently, he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Leicester University. He has been a Medical student examiner since 2003 and Royal College (RCPCH) Examiner since 2010. He is also on the Royal college ext assessment panel (START Assessor) since 2011.

His current clinical practice surrounds General Paediatrics and Paediatric Rheumatology. He is the current Clinical Lead for Paediatric Rheumatology services at his NHS Trust. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Leicester University

Dr Sridhar sees children of all ages with a broad range of paediatric medical conditions, including headaches, migraine, acid reflux, constipation, bowel issues, asthma, chest infection, and other respiratory problems.

He has a special interest in all aspects of paediatric rheumatology and sees children with arthritis, JIA, hypermobility, EDS, Juvenile lupus, Chronic joint pains, Back pain, and other musculoskeletal problems, Raynaud's phenomenon, and autoimmune conditions in children

Outside of his current clinical practice, he organises community events to raise funds for local charities. He practices yoga regularly and loves Bollywood music
