About Trauma & Eating Disorder Specialists

We are TEDS, Trauma & Eating Disorder Specialists. We hold your recovery at the heart of our care.

TEDS offer a highly specialised eating disorder & trauma service offering tailored, online integrated therapy packages designed for individuals aged 16 years and above.

Founded by Clare and Rachael, of whom together hold 22 years of clinical experience in both NHS and private eating disorder/mental health settings, TEDS accept referrals directly from both clients and professionals.

As passionate advocates for eating disorder & trauma recovery, TEDS are committed to delivering specialist treatment that is accessible, timely and effective.

What sets TEDS apart from other therapy services is our unique integrative therapy approach. This ensures that our own unique therapeutic stances, expertise and clinical experience are combined to address the past, present and future aspects of our clients - essentially working comprehensively and holistically towards recovery.

We offer both individual and group therapy packages, which are designed to fit around clients and these are ascertained following an Initial Assessment with both Clare and Rachael.

Furthermore, TEDS offer Carer Support sessions, providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals caring for a loved one.

Working with both Rachael and Clare has been transformative. Their ability to work in sync, while bringing their own individual strengths to each session, has created a space where I feel both deeply understood and consistently supported. At the beginning I felt they wanted me to decide to join their program only if it was genuinely right for me and if I truly got along with them both - I was the priority in this process. I remember having my first 15-minute call with Rachael, and despite my nerves, I felt immediate relief in speaking with someone external, empathetic, and non-judgmental. For the first time, I could respond honestly to questions that often feel taboo in everyday conversations—especially those surrounding food and emotion—and I was met not with blame or disgust. Never once did I feel reduced to stereotypes like “you simply have no self-control around food or your emotions”. Both Rachael and Clare speak to me as I am: a person seeking healing from something I never chose. Their combined approach allows me to express any thought, no matter how uncomfortable or taboo, and helps me explore the why behind my thinking. This has given me a deeper understanding of myself, my triggers, and the coping mechanisms that actually work for me. Their compassion has let me start to believe that I deserve kindness from myself. I’m incredibly grateful to have found a team that works so thoughtfully and skilfully together.

The service from TEDS is second to none. It is accessible, and friendly. At TEDS you are treated as an individual by therapists that genuinely care about you and work with you. Their combined experience and integrated approach meant that TEDS have tools you need to help you on your recovery journey. The support Clare and Rach provide is amazing and they have been pivotal on my recovery journey. I wouldn’t have wanted to do it with anyone else.

Clare and Rachael are both incredible at what they do. After many years of struggling with an eating disorder, and having different treatment I finally found TEDs last year and I only wish I’d known about Clare and Rach sooner. For so long, I felt like I was untreatable- that because one type of therapy hadn’t worked, I was a lost cause. I started to loose trust in the people who were there to help, I couldn’t tell them how I felt because I’d just be put in to another box, with another label. Working with Clare and Rach couldn’t be any further from that. I feel seen, heard, supported, held and cared for as me - not a diagnosis or box. They take things at a pace I can cope with, and allow me to take steady steps without me getting too overwhelmed. For a while, I’d lost all hope. I thought I’d be one of the people to never recover, that anorexia was my life. Thanks to Clare and Rach, I do have hope now, and even when I don’t, or have a bad day I know they are holding hope for me. I would recommend TEDs to anyone, I don’t think there is anyone better out there. I am so lucky to have the chance to work with them and I know so many other lives will also be better, and brighter for the care and treatment TEDs provide.

TEDS rescued me when I desperately needed help and have been an absolute lifeline for me ever since. My eating disorder was quickly taking everything from me; my health, career, relationships and ultimately the future I'd always imagined for myself. Due to the trajectory that I was on, Clare and Rach stepped in with very little time to build rapport and trust, and to establish a genuine, authentic and therapeutic relationship with me, but they did this effortlessly, making me feel safe and held immediately, which ultimately allowed me to recover at home - something I am so grateful for. They are both incredibly skilled and passionate clinicians who complement each other, and together, bring a vast variety of treatment modalities which allows me to be treated as an individual, not a diagnosis. Both Clare and Rach have helped me rebuild a life that I thought I had lost, and they never let me lose sight of what I'm recovering for and are always holding hope for me. Without TEDS, my dreams and ambitions would have been lost to anorexia, but now and I'm actively moving towards them, and that is all thanks to Rach and Clare.

Working with TEDS is always a productive experience, even when sessions are more challenging. This would not be possible without the knowledge and terrific skill that both Rachel and Clare possess. They build strong relationships with you built on enablement rather than dependency. All in all they offer a pretty potent approach to help you get to where you need to get to.

Thank you for your honest review. We feel passionate that the relationship between us all is one of the most valuable things within the process so we are so pleased you feel this connection. The word 'potent' is a great one as this process is challenging and eating disorders are powerful so we need something even more so to overcome it. We always hold hope that as a strong team, it is always possible. Thank you!

TEDS is a community eating disorder service, which provides care unlike any other eating disorder service in the whole of the country. Rach and Clare are not just clinical directors with decades of combined expertise… they are genuine people, with emotions and a great sense of love, compassion and pride in the help and support they provide to enable sufferers to grow beyond an illness. They treat every single individual as an individual. My sessions are specifically tailored to my needs, not based on one therapeutic model or exercise workbook to work through and tick off. I am recognised as an individual as opposed to a diagnosis. Therefore, my treatment is for me, and not my diagnosis. I feel utterly privileged to be under the care of Rach and Clare and the outstanding eating disorder service, TEDS. For I know, with them, recovery is possible.

I have had a very positive experience with TEDS for almost 3 years. They have provided me a safe space to discuss specific and general issues relevant to me. They have gone beyond specialising in eating disorders and take on a very holistic, client-centred approach, including giving me the tools to be my own therapist. I would have not been able to come this far without their support.
