My experience at GenesisCare Surrey was amazing. I chose to have private MRLinac radiotherapy for my prostate cancer in order that my treatment would have the minimum impact on my life and I was not disappointed. I was given an initial appointment within a week of getting approval from my health insurance. As my partner and I were travelling from some distance and staying in Guildford during the 11 days it took for my five treatments, the radiographers were very flexible in arranging the dates to suit us. GenesisCare offered to pay taxi fares for us to travel each time, but as the distance was too far we chose to stay and were amazed when they offered to contribute to our hotel bills, The building was modern and purpose built and the reception area was pleasant, bright and the staff friendly with tea, coffee and snacks on tap. Parking was easy and right outside. The MRLinac suite was similarly well done and the radiographers were friendly, helpful and keen to make things as easy as possible. It was nice to be taken into the control room to meet the team rather than them being shut away behind the glass. All of my treatments started on time and the last two appointments were rearranged so we could leave a day early. The whole experience felt more relaxing than attending a normal medical establishment, in fact more like being at a high-tech research institute. There was a follow-up call from a radiographer after we had been at home for a week to check how I was doing. The MRLinac treatment gave me very little in terms of side effects during the treatment or afterwards and meant we able to explore Guildford and the surrounding area when I wasn't having treatment. The whole experience was much preferable to the standard radiotherapy which would have involved 20 treatments over 4 weeks with months of hormone treatment. I felt confident that the use of MRI scans during treatment ensured the radiotherapy was precisely targeted to give the best results and to limit any damage to other organs. It did require me to lie in the machine for 25-40 mins and to ensure my bowels were empty and my bladder was half full at the time which was a bit tricky. The radiographers were very patient in giving me advice and support to help me achieve this although some more advice at the beginning would have been useful. If you have the option to have treatment at GenesisCare then I can thoroughly recommend it.

As a GP, I was very particular about choosing the right obstetrician for my pregnancy and delivery. Continuity of care was something I really valued and wanted to achieve — which can often be difficult within the NHS. From the very first appointment, Dr. S.Chawla stood out for her professionalism, warmth, and calm, reassuring manner. Throughout my pregnancy, she was thorough, approachable, and always took the time to listen and explain everything clearly. She was readily available and responded promptly to any questions I had, which provided great reassurance. She was extremely diligent with the medical care she provided, ensuring every aspect was carefully managed. I particularly appreciated how she provided clear, detailed information I could follow and made sure there were never any loose ends. Five weeks ago, she delivered my baby via C-section, and the experience was outstanding. The procedure went smoothly, and I felt supported and safe at every step — both medically and emotionally. My recovery has been excellent, which I credit in large part to her skill, attentiveness, and continuity of care. As both a doctor and a patient, I would thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend Dr. S Chawla. She truly embodies the best of our profession — combining expertise, empathy, diligence, and genuine compassion. I have no hesitation in saying that I would want my second child delivered by her as well.

The security and reception staff were absolutely wonderful - welcoming, professional, and efficient. When I went up to the 3rd-floor neurology department, there weren’t very clear directions on where to check in, but I eventually found the desk (ironically, not the easiest task for someone visiting a neurologist!). After checking in, I was seen quite promptly. The neurologist herself came out to collect me - something I didn’t realise until we were already in her office, as she hadn’t introduced herself. I think my presence uneased her and I even commented that I thought she was the porter, as that’s what I had seen with other patients being escorted in. Unfortunately, the appointment itself was disappointing. The neurologist came across as very judgmental and accusatory, suggesting that my symptoms were exaggerated or imagined, despite my clear explanations and the observations of my colleagues, doctors, specialists, and family who have witnessed my neurological decline. When she asked about my profession, she seemed skeptical that I could perform my job without issues, which was uncomfortable and disheartening. I have a follow-up appointment with a neuropsychiatrist, but honestly, I’m not looking forward to it. I can only hope they’ll be more open-minded and empathetic.

I've been seeing Erin at PSM since March 2025 - she is by far the best physio I’ve ever worked with. When first starting treatment, I had no idea of what was wrong – just a feeling of being ‘uneven’. By November, I’m pain-free and have a far better understanding of my body and how to look after myself for years to come. I was referred to Erin by another member of staff at PSM clinic who said she was one of the best – and they were absolutely right. From the start, she took the time to understand how I was feeling, carried out detailed tests, and quickly identified the root of the issue. Over the past six months, we’ve worked together to strengthen my shoulders and back through a tailored mix of gym and mobility exercises. Erin has gone above and beyond to adapt my programme as I’ve progressed, and I genuinely feel the difference. Whilst Erin was on holiday, she arranged cover with Cam, who was brilliant at answering my questions and fine-tuning my programme – his knowledge was greatly appreciated. The wider PSM team, including Morgan and Ellie, have also been fantastic – always welcoming, friendly, and incredibly helpful, especially with my medical insurance.

The staff were lovely, so kind and understanding which has been thoroughly appreciated. However, some frustration noted around wait times. While it is appreciated that diagnostics are a lengthy process and take time, I found issues where my assessments were delayed due to Skylight not having all the information from the forms I had already completed, and after submitting my forms I was not told that all of the information had not been received until I reached out and chased my application due to the time frames I was given being overdue. To improve this experience, more communication on what has and hasn’t been received would improve the experience and shorten some people’s wait times, as my wait time was partially increased due to lack of communication over forms I had or hadn’t filled in.

I had an operation at this hospital few day ago on the 6th of November by the amazing consultant Mr Jag Chana! To whom I am forever grateful in how kind, caring and professional he is and the most wonderful job he’s done with my operation! As for his team of anaesthetist, his lovely nurse Kate Zimmerman and all the nurses and other stuff on the ward ( apologies that I don’t know all your names) that looked after me before and after my operation I send my sincere thanks and gratitude! Every single one of you was beyond words professional, kind, caring, friendly and respectful! I am short of words in how to thank you for all the care and kindness you showed me during my stay! The hospital is so very fortunate to have you all as their members of staff! 🌟❤️

I have been coming to Hope House since being diagnosed. I have seen multiple consultants, but everyone pails into insignificance compared to Andrew. The only reason that I attended Hope House is Andrew. Andrew is friendly, compassionate. He treats his patients as friends, which immediately puts you at ease. He goes beyond normal parameters to know his patients background and whats happening in their lives. He is extremely knowledgeable, and very understanding, explains things in layman's terms. There has been a period recently where Andrew wasn't available which affected a couple of my appointments, to the point I started to research alternative clinics

My visit for my hip operation was very calming, no stress involved as it was an operation. The nursing staff (Liam) was very helpful with information about my procedure timetable. After my operation I was looked after by 2 further nurses (Jan & Yvonne). They looked after my pain medication during the.night as well as the rest of my needs. Couldn’t have asked for better support, many thanks to them. The physio was round the next morning with crutches so I could walk and instructions on what I could and couldn’t do. Again very supportive which put me at ease.

Avni is absolutely brilliant and I cannot recommend her enough. She started treated me during pregnancy but I have continued to see her after. Avni is really caring and intuitive and the only osteopath that I have been to who really manages to address any pain that I have been experiencing. She doesn't insist that you come back week after week, unless the treatment specifically requires a few sessions. She takes a holistic approach to wellness and provides really useful tips and recommendations that have helped me in all aspects of life.
