His clinical expertise, commitment, and compassion enabled me to achieve something that had once felt impossible, and I will be forever grateful for his care. I had been training for seven months to take on a double marathon in memory of my brother, who tragically took his own life just over a year ago. The run meant everything to me — not just as a personal challenge, but as a way to honour him and raise money for The Hunchman Trust, a charity that supports young people navigating grief, especially after suicide. By the time race day was in sight, I had already raised £28,000, and the weight of expectation — from myself and from those supporting me — felt enormous. Seventeen days before the event, disaster struck. I was injured, and despite visits to a physio, I was in terrible shape. With less than two weeks to go, I was convinced my dream was over. It was then that my physio referred me to Dr. James Noake, who, upon hearing my story, went to great lengths to fit me into his schedule. My case was complicated. I had an inflamed Kager’s fat pad and a trapped sural nerve, problems made even harder to diagnose because of a previous ankle reconstruction back in 2019. Where others had struggled, Dr. Noake immediately identified the issue. The very next morning, he came in early to give me the treatment and injections I desperately needed. What happened next felt nothing short of remarkable. Days earlier I had been ready to give up, certain I’d have to withdraw from the race. Instead, with Dr. Noake’s expertise and guidance, I was not only able to start but to finish the double marathon. Throughout the event, he made himself available, checking in, offering advice, and guiding me on what I could and couldn’t do to protect myself. Thanks to him, I was able to cross that finish line and, more importantly, honour my brother’s memory in the way I had hoped.

A Life-Changing Experience – Thank You My wife is 62 years old and has battled alcoholism for 27 years. She had been to rehab three times before, but this time was different. After losing her mother – her last remaining close relative – she turned to alcohol once again, retreating from the world in her grief. As a family, we were at breaking point. She is beginning to embrace sobriety in a genuine, lasting way. She speaks openly when she feels low or has a difficult day, instead of turning to the bottle. That openness has been life-changing for the whole family. I will always be grateful for their understanding, dedication, and wisdom. They didn’t just help my wife — they helped give our family hope again.

I was not satisfied with the care I received. I do not think there was an appropriate length of time spent on the assessment, or that it went into enough detail. The clinician did not attempt to create a safe space where I felt comfortable being vulnerable. I felt like none of my pre-assessment forms had been read in advance and much of the session was going over the same yesterday/no questions. During my assessment I was asked very few follow up questions to these responses and it was wrapped up very quickly. I certainly did not get a sense that there was an understanding about autistic masking, especially in older undiagnosed women. There was no aftercare offered after receiving difficult news, expect being told to improve my diet and exercise, which after many years of understanding and managing my mental health, felt patronising. I understand this is all probably routine as the assessment is just a tick box exercise. But I believe in advocating for better care and there were many things which can be improved upon. I will seeking a second opinion elsewhere.

While I had to pay for this service, I felt it rescued my holiday and so was therefore completely worthwhile.

I felt he always had my best interests at heart and has given me excellent advice, before and following my latest surgery.

Everything was ok during the surgery (also with anaesthetist and nurses during recovery), although I had to stay for the night, but all the personnel was very kind and helpful. Follow up of surgery was very good, with dr Atkinson answering all my doubts by email or phone.

I ended up having a steroid injection as I am about to go on holiday, but next time I am going to try Arthrosamid, as this has been recommended to me by a friend who had it.
