I attended the hospital to have planned eye surgery consisting of cataract removal, lens replacement and full thickness corneal replacement under general anaesthetic. I arrived early and was allocated to a private ensuite room with secure storage. Nurses confirmed all the necessary checks that had been conducted the previois day in pre-assessment. A nurse applied gel to my hand to numb it ready for a cannula and provided surgical stockings. The anaesthetist visited to re-confirm details and provide reassurance. The surgeon visited to review procedure and risks. The nurse accompanied me to the anaesthesia room and looked after my clothes. After fitting the cannula painlessly, after the anaesthetic I knew nothing until awakening in recovery, with a pad over the affected eye. I was taken back to my room feeling fit and well. Nurses checked on me and provided the refreshments I had ordered. The surgeon visited again to confirm the follow up appointment. Medications were made ready, with post operative guidance. My chaperone arrived to take me home. The whole thing was completed on schedule.

Overall this was a good experience, I had a combined assessment via NHS right to choose. I liked that I was seen in person for this. The wait times were much longer than initially expected however I believe there was a huge influx of patients at the same time that I was referred. The assessments themselves were good with understanding and knowledgeable assessors. The report which I have received is in depth although I did think there may be a professionals insight into the early developmental questionnaire whereas it is just copied into the report. I had a few queries about the report which I am waiting on the answer to and also have asked for it to be sent to my GP which hasn't been done yet but again, this is the lacking wait times. Apart from the wait times, the service was great and I am thankful for their help. I think my referral was made in March 2025 and I am writing this review in December 2025.

From the moment I arrived, Miss Jain’s friendly and personable manner immediately put me at ease. I particularly appreciated her patience and the way she welcomed all of my questions, responding with detailed explanations that were easy to understand. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a warm welcome from Gemma at reception and Mashal kindly assisted with my pre-appointment obs. We recently saw Mr Uddin for our son’s ongoing ear problems, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the care he provided. He placed grommets in both of my son’s ears, and the whole process was incredibly smooth from start to finish. Mr Uddin explained everything clearly, made us feel at ease, and handled the procedure with great professionalism. There were no complications at all, and the recovery was quick and trouble-free. I came for a complete tight hip replacement. Staff were all friendly and answered all my questions. Was taken t my room, unpacked got dressed as required. Put on my dressing gown and then read my book. Was taken into pre prep surgery, chatted to the anesthetist and other nurses. Was then moved into the surgery. Operation went well, I was kept up to date during the procedure. I was listening to music throughout. No pain at all, at the end met the surgeons and chatted with them. Went to the recoveryward for about and hour, chatted with the nurses and relaxed. Then taken back to my room and relaxed.

I have been seeing Dr Newman for about five years following a diagnosis of MGUS which needs to be monitored regularly because it can develop into Myeloma. Following my blood tests, I see Dr Newman at the Brighton Nuffield Hospital and he carefully explains what everything means. I will continue to see him every six months and have no hesitation in recommending him. I must also mention that his long-standing private secretary, Jude, is amazing - she is so helpful and kind and calm at all times.

I went in for a tooth extraction today, and based on past experiences I was expecting it to be pretty unpleasant. This was completely different. The numbing injections were easy, and the actual extraction took what felt like minutes with zero pain. I’ve been home for six hours now and still haven’t needed any painkillers at all. As far as dental visits and extractions go, this was genuinely a breeze, Yasin is an absolute wizard.

Our baby girl was delivered at the Fitzrovia. We were supported by the amazing Dr. Chawla and a highly competent team of midwives. We felt cared for by the midwives throughout the delivery, especially Lesley, Chrissy and our anaesthetist John, and throughout our after birth experience. The suite was comfortable and had comprehensive catering. We would recommend the experience to others and are happy we chose the Fitzrovia.
