Receptionist was absolutely lovely and really friendly and helpful. The building and facilities were all excellent and kept clean and tidy. The consultant I saw was extremely rude, arrogant and judgemental. There were several comments he made that shocked me and that made me feel very uncomfortable to the point I almost walked out mid appointment. There was very little sympathy or mindfulness of my injury and he came across extremely judgemental in the assumptions he made about the level of sport I played, what I could afford, and several other things. I actually play semi-professionally and have represented our country in World Championships in the sport I play, and I also have a law degree and accountancy qualification which I did not mention as quite frankly it is irrelevant. It was apparent he took a dislike to me for whatever reason from the start and the whole experience was very uncomfortable. His behaviour aside, he is clearly very knowledgeable and good at what he does. Reading between the lines I got the answer I needed. This hospital was recommended to me by one of your previous patients and I was lucky to get booked in through an NHS referral but after my experience I would never return for any issue and am relieved I didn't pay to go private.

I recently had surgery with Mr Vakharia to remove a dermoid cyst, and during the procedure he also discovered and removed endometriosis for me, as well as performing a HyCoSy (tube flush). He came to speak to me both before and after the surgery, reassured me, and made sure I felt completely confident and informed at every stage. Dr Lindsay looked at mammy’s medical computer record and asked how he could be of help. He was obviously very knowledgeable about osteoporosis, its impact and difficulties with pain management. He listened to our concerns about the constant pain mammy experiences and discussed pain management strategies. Also suggested vitamin supplements. Given that mammy is in the last stage of osteoporosis we understand that she is very frail and at continued risk of fractures. Dr Lindsay provided information from the Royal Osteoporosis Society advising on managing persistent pain after fractures, pain relieving drugs etc. Dr Lindsay gave my brother and I time to go over mammy’s recent medical history and presenting issues. He had a lovely manner with mammy and involved her in the discussion.

I recently attended YGC for a hysterectomy with my consultant Mr Clerk. What a phenomenal man he really is. He has given me the best possible out come i could ask for. Even though i was late going into surgery mr Clerk did everything he could to make sure i did not miss my slot. He was present when i returned from recovery at 8pm. Explained everything to me and made sure i was ok and comfortable. Not only was he there that late but the next day returned to the ward to check on me again late evening. He was also on annual leave. Every doctor should take as much pride in their patients as he does. He is a wonderful, kind man who has done nothing but go above and beyond. I am very lucky to have been appointed him as my consultant. Thank you Mr Nick Clerk for being the very best.
