I think Dr Sharma herself was really excellent. But I found the admin around the appointment quite disorganised. I phoned to ask if all I needed was my Axa claim number but couldn't get through on the phone, so I left a voice message, but no one got back to me. So when I arrived for my appointment I specifically asked the receptionist if that was all they needed, and she said yes. And yet I later got a text message asking me for my Axa membership number too. Quite frankly, the message looked like a scam. It came from an 07 number, there was very little information in the message (perhaps for privacy reasons), with no mention of the hospital or Dr Sharma, and it did not address me by my name. It also mentioned phf.uk.com, which had not been in any of the previous information I had received. I phoned the hospital and thankfully someone did answer this time, and it was the woman who had sent the text message. I raised similar concerns to those outlined above, but she did not seem to understand or care, and her tone made me think she thought I was stupid for not magically understanding how things work internally. Again, Dr Sharma was really excellent, so I hope the admin side of things can be improved.

The booking part of the process was the only thing that could be improved. Took a log time from seeing the consultant to being contacted. The staff member was quite abrupt and inflexible. I was on my way out of the door at the time (7.30pm) and she didn’t seem empathetic to this. No way for me to text the information required in (BUPA details which the hospital already has been sent!). So I was told to call back next day to recite the information. I was offered a single booking time…take it or leave it! The actual appointment and scan was faultless. Friendly and empathetic staff greeted me, were on time (in fact early!) and the whole process was smooth and the scans explained to me clearly and were done quickly. I am however still awaiting the results…so turn around is nearly a month from reporting my concerns about cancer recurrence,

In general I was very pleased with my own treatment. I have three suggestions about the waiting room where drops are administered. 1. When giving information/instructions, this should be spoken slowly and in correct English, or to put it the other way around, should not be rushed. 2. Where issues arise which involve detailed discussion of a personal nature with a patient, as happened when I was there, this should be conducted privately. 3. The instructions about post-op self-care should be more carefully laid out, particularly when there is a change as was the case recently. I found myself puzzling over whether to use the Hylo-Forte eye drops I had already bought to treat slight grittiness as this might be a source of infection.

Avni is absolutely brilliant and I cannot recommend her enough. She started treated me during pregnancy but I have continued to see her after. Avni is really caring and intuitive and the only osteopath that I have been to who really manages to address any pain that I have been experiencing. She doesn't insist that you come back week after week, unless the treatment specifically requires a few sessions. She takes a holistic approach to wellness and provides really useful tips and recommendations that have helped me in all aspects of life.

I visited Dr Shalabi several times over a nine month period. He was always very kind and professional, really listened, and happy to give advice and guidance whenever I needed it. His overall manner was exactly what I needed to feel comfortable and trust that he could help me. I can't thank him enough for getting me from a place where I could barely eat or drink, to now being mostly back to 'normal'.
