I waited over an hour to be seen for my pre admission appointment. After being admitted and been shown to my room I was left for 5 hours in a cold room without anyone checking on me or giving me information about when my operation would be. Staff only turned up when I called and was then able to get some water as I was then advised that my operation was being delayed for a few hours. Short staffed. Slow to respond to buzzer calls. Staff always seemed to be busy doing something else other than looking after patients. Quite noisy ward during the day with people’s loud voices/laughing. Outdated facilities, no overhead bed light so had to have the main big room lights on all the time, which I could not control. I was moved to a different room after my operation as the first one did not have sufficient heating. The en-suite bathrooms are very outdated. Very short shower hose. In my second room there were 2 Rentokill boxes in shower. 50% of staff were friendly. I had major abdominal surgery. My night nurse was very compassionate and took very good care of me for 2 nights. I was discharged with the insufficient amount of painkillers to take home and without a physio assessment or much information about what symptoms to look out for and how to help recovery. I had to contact my own GP to get enough painkillers. Once discharged I had to walk with my husband all the way to the car at the pickup parking as there was no porter or wheelchair available. I had given 1h notice and then let her know again 10minutes before my husband arrived to collect me.

When booking the consultation with Nick Panay, the earliest available date was 2 months in advance. I was required to pay the full £395 under pressure at time, being told that the consultation would be lost unless I paid by 5pm. My understanding that this appointment would be for specialist, in-depth input tailored to a complex clinical history. Given that context, I was disappointed that the consultation felt limited to a reiteration of guideline-based recommendations, with little opportunity to explore causation, individual nuance, or the specific questions I had prepared. At several points during the consultation, I felt that my questions were closed down rather than explored, and the overall tone felt more directive than supportive. Given my long and complex medical history, I had hoped for a more compassionate and collaborative approach. Instead, I left the consultation feeling unheard and dismissed, which was distressing. I had hoped for greater depth and collaborative discussion, particularly in light of the significant upfront cost. I was given no additional value beyond what I already knew and was told in any case, that I required a further consultation to finalise a treatment plan. I have been in contact with the practice and explained that the consultation did not meet the reasonable expectations set by the cost, structure, or positioning of this service. I appreciate that since, I have received a considered response from the Practice Manager and the consultation and fee are being reviewed.

Spire Harpenden Hospital

Whilst time waiting to see Mr Khan was very quick , if I'd arrived any later I wouldn't have completed my check in and, I arrived more than the recommended 15 mins early more staff on reception required plus I don't think self checking in on tablets helps , whilst fine for me others clearly needed help.After seeing Mr Khan I needed follow up appointments for a scan and,blood/urine tests . Having waited at 1 reception for 15 minutes area to make an appointment for the tests to be brusquely told to go and make my scan appointment as it "Would save time" .When I'm 2 away from the desk don't think it was about saving my time.Then wait at the radiology department reception for another 15 minutes as only 1 person on reception, told they'll need to check with the radiologist and, would call me today as yet they haven't. Return to main outpatient reception to book tests and, amazingly I've now got 6 people in front of me ...finally get to the desk to be told can't do blood test as no one there to do them .Now had there been but because of time wasted there no longer was ? Not impressed by The Spire on this occasion, Mr Khan yes , but everything else no .

I was referred to Genesis by the NHS consultant oncologist to receive radiotherapy and hormone treatment for for my diagnosed advanced prostate cancer. I was seen very quickly at the Newmarket (Cambridge) branch of Genesis. The facilities are modern with state of the art CT and radiotherapy equipment. At all times the staff of all disciplines and specialties were extremely helpful and understanding. After 4 weeks (20 sessions) of radiotherapy my regular attendance finished. However I will continue to have regular reviews there with the oncologist and be given the specialist hormone therapy and other pills to be taken for 2 years. Another impressive feature at Genesis is the inclusion of gym sessions under personal guidance from two expert trainers. This is most helpful in countering the muscle loss resulting from hormone therapy. I am continuing with these sessions for some weeks after completing my treatment. In summary, Genesis Care has provided the highest possible standard of specialist cancer treatment and I would strongly recommend this organisation when radiotherapy treatment is needed.

Mr James Raymond Oliphant

I recently underwent J-pouch surgery performed by Mr Oliphant as part of the reversal process following emergency surgery a year ago, which resulted in an ileostomy due to ulcerative colitis. From my initial consultation through to post-operative care, Mr Oliphant was professional, compassionate, and reassuring. He took the time to explain the procedure clearly and thoroughly, ensuring I fully understood each stage of the process. He also checked in with me regularly both before and after surgery, which greatly reassured me and made me feel well supported throughout my care. The surgery itself was extremely successful, and my recovery was smooth with no complications. I was discharged promptly and felt confident managing my recovery due to the excellent care and guidance provided. I have one further procedure remaining to complete the reversal process, and I would be very pleased to return to Mr Oliphant and his team for this final stage. I am extremely grateful for the high standard of care I received.

I recently had a private consultation and subsequent operation with Dr Samuel Dobson, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. From the very first consultation, he immediately put me at ease. He was professional yet friendly, and made me feel completely comfortable throughout the process. Dr Dobson was extremely thorough and gave me every opportunity to discuss my symptoms and concerns. He listened carefully, answered all of my questions, and was incredibly reassuring at every stage. I always felt treated with the utmost respect and never rushed. My experience with Dr Dobson has been overwhelmingly positive, and I would not hesitate to recommend him. In fact, I have already recommended him to friends who have experienced similar issues or who have been struggling to conceive.

Mr Khalid Akbari

I was in constant agony due to a fistula that had grown through my rib cage and into my chest wall. It was an extremely rare and complex condition, and because of other health issues, I was not an ideal candidate for major surgery. Mr Akbari took the time to fully understand my situation and came up with a solution that allowed him to operate with minimal risk and a much shorter recovery time. Mr Akbari and his exceptional team supported me throughout the process and provided outstanding care. The surgery was a success, and the removal of the fistula has given me a completely new lease of life. I will be forever grateful to Mr Akbari and his wonderful team for their skill, care, and compassion.

I had a day procedure at the Lindo Wing and the experience was excellent. The doctors and nurses were incredibly supportive, professional, and kind, which made a stressful situation much easier to cope with. The entire process, from arranging the initial consultation to scheduling the procedure, was handled very efficiently, with minimal waiting time. The medical staff took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I felt comfortable and well cared for throughout the day. The environment was calm, clean, and reassuring, and I truly felt that I was in very safe hands. I am very grateful for the care and compassion shown by the whole team.

I went to see Mr Pakarian as I was having very heavy bleeding from a suspected fibroid which I thought I had had removed via a Myosure treatment three months prior. He talked through my history and did scans then and there. He thought it was a fibroid and sent me for an MRI to confirm. He talked through my options including shrinking the fibroid but recommended a full hysterectomy based on my age, history and my confirmation that I didn’t want any more children. He sent me off to think about my options but I was fully convinced the hysterectomy was the best option for me.

Mr Azi Samsudin

Mr Samsudin treated me for a kidney stone at Spire Hospital Cheshire. From the initial consultation, I found him to be highly professional, approachable, and very clear in outlining the proposed treatment and next steps. The procedure was carried out successfully and without complication, and my recovery was straightforward and swift. While I hope not to require Mr Samsudin’s expertise again in the future, should I experience another kidney stone, I would not hesitate to seek his care. I am very grateful for the excellent treatment I received.

Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital

No problems with check in or with the meeting with Mr Krkovic. However the hospital is showing signs of neglect. The loo in the corridor outside Trinity Suite had no paper towels and and a completely overflowed waste bin. The coffee machine in Trinity was broken in October and is still broken in January. The former quite serious, the latter not serious but to be not fixed over so many months suggests neglect and that always raises the possibility that things I can't see are also neglected. SIte management needs shake-up.

She took the time to ask detailed questions to fully understand the background of my daughter’s headaches. We really appreciated that she laid out a clear plan going forward, including how to continue the current medication and what the next steps would be if things don’t improve. Overall, it was a very helpful and reassuring consultation, and we felt that our daughter was in excellent hands.

Initially believed a guided steroid injection had been arranged through our GP. However despite trying to confirm this prior to visit this transpired not to be the case and was told another appointment would need to be booked for a later date. Fortunately Natalie, senior radiologist, was kindly able to arrange a guided steroid injection for that afternoon for which I am very grateful for as it is one hour twenty minutes round trip for us

The Inverness Outpatient Centre itself was excellent — clean, well organised, and very welcoming. From reception to clinical staff, everyone was extremely kind, professional, and helpful, which made the whole visit smooth and stress-free. The staff were attentive and friendly, creating a calm and reassuring environment throughout. Overall, a fantastic facility with extremely good staff, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
