I would like to begin by acknowledging the excellent care I received from the doctors during my first visit. Both clinicians went above and beyond, and I felt genuinely supported by them. Unfortunately, this high standard was not reflected in my interactions with the reception and administrative staff. After my consultation, the doctor provided me with a ticket for my next appointment and advised that, in the meantime, I should attend the imaging department for an ultrasound. When I arrived at imaging, the staff were dismissive and informed me that, because I was an NHS patient, they would need to write to my GP for a separate referral. I explained that the doctor had instructed me to have the ultrasound the same day. The staff member responded that if I waited in reception, she would speak to the doctor, adding that “quite often they don’t know how things are done.” I waited for an hour with no update. When I approached the desk to ask for news, the staff member replied, “I’m sorry, I forgot all about you,” and said she would speak to the doctor immediately. After she finally did so, the situation changed dramatically: I was suddenly offered an ultrasound appointment for 11:30 a.m. that same day — just an hour and a half later. It was clear that once the doctor became aware of the issue, the department acted quickly and efficiently, which I appreciated, especially as I live only ten minutes away. The ultrasound itself was carried out professionally, and the doctor performing it was excellent. He explained everything clearly and asked when my next appointment was. When I told him it was scheduled for six weeks later, he advised me to return to the main reception and request an earlier appointment, as his report would be completed that same day. However, when I approached reception, I was dismissed outright and told, “Doctors make appointments six weeks in advance — it is what it is.” Additionally, there was no record of my attendance on their system, only an appointment dated 23 March 2026, which, by their own admission, belonged to a different patient entirely. On reflection, while staff may appear polite on the surface, the reality of my experience was the opposite. The inconsistency, dismissiveness, and lack of coordination created unnecessary stress and undermined the otherwise excellent clinical care I received.

My experience began with an O/P appt with Mr Horsburgh for a possible kidney issue, and led to me having three operations on both kidneys for significant stone/ mineral deposits, which were causing me considerable problems. The process from start to finish was seamless, with every dept working together to ensure there were no delays in the pathway (scans, blood tests, specialist urine analysis, three in-patient stays, follow up from surgery etc), which I have seen so rarely in NHS facilities. This level of efficiency and care gave me a real sense of trust in both the staff and the process, which reduced my stress levels throughout (and the whole process took less than 4 months). it was also very clear that every professional (from surgeon on) had excellent clinical skills, experience and commitment. The most important feedback relates to the level of compassion and care offered me by Mr Horsburgh and every one of his team (both inpatient and outpatient); I was made to feel like a unique individual with unique needs, rather than just being another patient. The importance of this must not be underestimated, as it has, in my opinion, the biggest impact on minimising distress and supporting recovery. I can't fault the service I received.

Today I attended an appointment to see Mr Jawad Freites, on arrival of my appointment he made me feel very comfortable and at easy with a safe space speak to about my concerns I had been have for around 2.5 years now, he was very understanding and carried out a thorough consultation and examination to enable me to get some answers to move forward with the correct treatment required, I would like to again comment on how Mr Jawad throughout my appointment explained everything to me and again made me feel at complete ease. At the end of my appointment I had got all the answers I had been trying to find along with a full understanding and plan on what was going to happen next and what my treatment options would be. I could not have asked for a more knowledgeable consultant I felt Mr Jawad was extremely knowledgeable in his field and I could not recommend him enough. I felt very heard and understood today and I am looking very positive for my treatment moving forward.

I had a Teams meeting today with Angela about my nutrition, as I’m looking for ways to gain weight. She was completely non judgemental, incredibly warm, and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole conversation. She never made me feel bad about my eating habits and was very kind and understanding in the way she worked with me. She gave me really sound advice and clear, practical feedback on how I can improve things going forward, particularly around healthy weight gain. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the meeting. I half expected to be told to cut out lots of foods and start eating things I didn’t like but instead, she took the time to understand what I like and don’t like to eat. Overall, she was extremely helpful, supportive, and approachable, and I genuinely appreciated the session. I thought she was great.

She took the time to tailor my care to me as an individual, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Thanks to her support and guidance, I feel far more informed, supported, and positive about managing this transition. I’m incredibly grateful for her care and would wholeheartedly recommend her to any woman at the start of their menopause journey.

Being assessed and diagnosed with ADHD as an adult wasn’t easy emotionally, but they handled everything with real professionalism, patience, and understanding. I never felt rushed or judged, and they took the time to explain things clearly so I actually understood what was going on rather than feeling labelled. Since the diagnosis, I’ve felt more clarity about myself and my wellbeing, and that alone has been hugely valuable. I attended tonight for a scan of my hands with Dr Patterson. On arrival I was welcomed at reception, checked in quickly and asked to take a seat in the waiting room. Breda then came out and called me to attend the consultation room, introductions were made, and Dr Patterson then performed my scan, he was professional, and provided information relevant to my condition. The whole consultation was a pleasure and demonstrated the significance difference a private company can make to a struggling NHS. Thankyou both again for such a positive experience.
