I began working with Jo shortly after receiving my autism diagnosis at the age of 45. At the time, I was already an experienced practitioner, but I was navigating a new understanding of myself while continuing to work at a high professional level. Through her insight, strategies, and lived understanding, Jo helped me to recognise who I am, clearly identify my strengths, and understand that I am not deficient. She supported me in developing the confidence and language to advocate for myself, to understand the reasonable adjustments I was entitled to, and, crucially, how to ask for them effectively. The impact of Jo’s work with me went far beyond personal insight. By applying the strategies and approaches she shared, I not only progressed professionally; I was promoted first to a senior role and then to Service Lead. Jo helped me align my authentic self with my professional practice, strengthening both my leadership and my effectiveness. Jo’s mentoring has had a lasting impact on my confidence, my career, and my sense of self. Her support was empowering, affirming, and deeply respectful, and I cannot overstate the value of what she helped me achieve.

My recent visit to the Fortius Clinic for removal of stitches and a post operative assessment was short, on time and to the point. On arrival, as always for previous appointments, the reception staff were briefed and I was immediately sent to the correct location, waiting time in a comfortable environment was minimal before being called in to see my surgeon, Mr Houlihan-Burne. who took the time to answer a few questions. and assure me that should there be any future queries or worries, he & his staff were always available. She explained the procedure and how that I was in control if i felt any discomfort. Waited about 20min for my appointment with consultant Then during my meeting with him He took a non urgent phone call my appointment that lasted approximately 10-15 mins He discharged me despite me saying I am getting lots of pain that disrupts my sleep and painkillers don’t help! I would have liked to have been referred to physio. But I was not offered it or anything except lift your arm forwards!

The clinic is easy to find, just off the motorway. I was made a cup of tea when I arrived. The doctor was very pleasant and patient whilst I listed my many and confusing health symptoms. I felt listened to and understood. It was so good to have the time to elaborate in a way that you cannot in a traditional doctor appointment. think we have a plan going forward which will help.
