I was diagnosed with a very rare type of blood caner called Hairy cell leukaemia variant (splenic B cell lymphoma with prominent nucleoli SBLPN). The diagnosis itself took more than half a year, involving 4 hospitals, both private and NHS hospitals. The challenge did not stop at diagnosis – due to the rareness of this disease, there is still a lack of definitive clinical trials and guidance for treatment globally. Dr. Sanne Lugthart in Bristol, UK has been our beacon of light through the darkest days of our cancer journey. She gave up her own leave to care for us with unwavering dedication and genuine empathy - always seeing things from our perspective and going above and beyond. She offered us not only world-class medical expertise, but also the warmth and reassurance that we were never alone. Just two days before my chemotherapy, she used her annual leave to coordinate across hospitals and secure a vital medication for us - an act that moved my family deeply, bringing my daughter to tears. Dr. Lugthart exemplifies what a world-class haematologist truly is: brilliant clinical skill matched with profound compassion and selflessness. She sets the gold standard for patient care. In the morning of day 2 of my chemotherapy, blood test results showed miracle response to the treatment, and I haven’t experienced any side effects so far – thanks for Dr Sanne Lugthart and the treatment team’s outstanding care. I feel more energetic every day, and I am very grateful for the treatment and the amazing outcome so far. We firmly believe her excellence deserves wider recognition. She is a model of the very best in haematology and cancer care, and we sincerely hope her dedication and humanity will be acknowledged by the institute and the professional community. Mr Karanjit Singh Mangat

From my initial assessment appointment with Mr Mangat I felt very happy to be in his hands, I trusted that he would do his very best to help me with the miserable situation I found myself in, for many months I had been living with a very painful and almost immobile left shoulder/arm due to an injury I suffered whilst performing my Care work on a hospital ward. Mr Mangat was kind and gentle and gave me time to thoroughly explain my situation, he examined my movement and reviewed my scan results before we talked through all the options. We both agreed that surgery seemed the best option given how long I had already lived with the pain and life changing lack of mobility (off work since July 2025). Mr Mangat performed my surgery and I am so thrilled with the results !! I already have almost full movement again and no pain, I am working with Thomas, Physio, at The Cherwell Hospital now to continue to improve movement and vitally to get strength back in my arm. I saw Mr Mangat for a follow up consultation after 7 weeks and he is also very pleased with the results. I am so very grateful to Mr Mangat for his kind and thoughtful care and of course for his amazing skills as a Surgeon, I couldn't be more pleased with what he has done for me.

My experiences with Mr El-Tawil have been outstanding. Sherif is a very personable man who truly lives the patient-led approach. He builds great rapport with his patients, taking time to properly understand not just your issue but also your life to build a full picture of your needs. He is a great listener and clearly cares about your wellbeing. Sherif is thorough in his diagnosis - he always has enough time to properly understand your issue, explain the various factors to consider, and answer any question or concern you have. He is happy to dedicate extra time if you are concerned, and I have never walked away from an appointment with him with outstanding questions. He is very much the opposite of a paternalistic Dr - he will give you all the information he has but then very much be led by your preferences rather than force his own opinion on you. He performed significant surgery on my knee and 3 months in it appears to have gone very well - my knee feels strong, it is recovering very well, and I have had no complications. I am very happy with the results. His bedside manner in the hospital was excellent and his followup care has too. I could not recommend Sherif more, he is an outstanding surgeon.

I highly recommend Dr Shalini Chalwas. She is reassuring, warm, and extremely knowledgeable — the kind of doctor who makes you feel genuinely cared for. This was my husband's and my first child, and from the beginning Dr Chalwas guided us through the pregnancy and birth with empathy, skill, and professionalism. I felt completely comfortable in her hands, which meant a lot as first-time parents. At 36 weeks, my birth plan changed unexpectedly. Due to the baby's positioning, we needed to switch from a planned vaginal birth to a c-section, and I was quite nervous and anxious about the change. Dr Chalwas talked me through it patiently, answered all my questions, and helped me feel settled and confident about the new plan rather than just uneasy. On her recommendation, I delivered at the Portland Hospital, and it was a very positive experience overall. She is also incredibly responsive — always generous with her time and attention, whether in person, over the phone, or via WhatsApp. Dr Chalwas helped us navigate the pregnancy and birth of our first child with real care and expertise, and I recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking for an obstetrician.

I did the ketamine programme, and had a great experience with my counsellor. The integration sessions made such a difference, because I could feel my brain open up and be able to integrate, concepts and experiences I had struggled with understanding earlier. The ketamine sessions themselves take some getting used to, and can be uncomfortable, but it does provide a release, and I felt like my nervous system could finally come out of fight-or-flight. I had been struggling with trd and cptsd for a while, and after doing the ketamine and putting the work in in the integration sessions, I feel like I can envision a future for myself, and have a better sense of my own wants, needs, and desires. Before I couldn't see through the depression for anything longterm. The ketamine itself isn't a magic cure, and you have to do the work yourself if you want to feel better, but it opens doors which may have felt closed or inaccessible before, and allows you to start making progress after being stuck. Also, everyone is attentive and personable and kind, which makes a real difference.

Hello , I got to my appointment on time I only waited 5 minutes or so, a friendly man showed me the way , locker ect, asked a few questions, then it was a case of getting on with the scan , I do have abit of anxiety with confined spaces , so was very nervous, but the fact they just got on with it , helped me, I do believe if they had told me too much I would have started to over think things, but as it was, I just needed a court of seconds to steady myself after, being layed down so flat, the guy was fine, but I do think maybe give the patient a minute to steady themselves, I do get vertigo, just felt a little rushed , but the staff were great, Thankyou , I appreciate they have a lot of appointments, but a chair near the lockers would be good? Steady yourself, just a idea

He takes the time to explain exactly what’s going on in a way that actually makes sense to my brain, without making me feel overwhelmed.
