Mr Tev Aho ; HoLeP Review ;October 2025 I was introduced to Mr Aho in October 2025 after my BPH prostate issue of 15 years became troublesome in a matter of weeks; I attended my local A&E as I could not empty my bladder due to something happening in my prostate, resulting in my being catheterised for 7 weeks; My prostate was given an MRI by the NHS, that showed an anomaly , and i was informed i should consider losing my prostate, as Surgery was my only option; I was 66 yrs of age at the time of the surgery; I spoke with Mr Aho, who is an absolute gentleman, with a fantastic bedside manner; He listened to my situation, explained very clearly what a HoLeP would involve, and we agreed to proceed; The procedure took place in London just 12 days after my discussion with Mr Aho, and all went well; I was discharged the next day, in my case with a catheter after my 2 months with one, and this was removed after 6 days; Once removed, i had no issues and found that i now had a high pressure ‘firehose’ when i urinated; I experienced no leaks, incontinence , ‘accidents’ etc, and only a mild tingling sensation where the equipment had been inserted for the procedure , that passed after a few weeks; After the catheter was removed, life returned to normal instantly; This is far better than the other surgery options, that can have ongoing issues , and I can’t thank Mr Aho enough for his skills and accepting me as his patient; The alternatives open to me were to horrific to consider; If you are considering this procedure , In my opinion, its by far the best option, and from a patient point of view, simple, quick, home in 2 days, and life gets back to normal fast; Mr Aho is without doubt a Godsend, of whom i have no hesitation in recommending .

Marc and his whole team at Sage were fantastic from beginning to end throughout the whole process. Once it was identified I had a problem with my prostate which needed to be addressed, the Sage support team quickly kicked in and started the process. The initial face to face meeting with Marc was first class, which put both myself and my wife at ease. This was followed up with a detailed breakdown of my status and required next steps. There was a very tight window for him to operate before Christmas; but this was dependant on the scan images being made available as very short notice. His team were tireless in their pursuit of the images form the NHS. Only because of their diligence were the images were delivered in a timely manner to Marc and the hospital. On the day of the operation I was visited by Marc and the anesthetist prior to surgery, which was a great success. I was seen again by Marc the following day and then allowed home later that day. All of the team who looked after me were outstanding and did a great job. The post surgery follow-up and care has been equally good. His team are always available and I have seen Marc twice post- operation. His guidance, support and professionalism has been outstanding. As well as being a great surgeon Marc is empathetic to the mental and emotional toll that a cancer diagnosis and surgery take. For me he is at the top of his game in this field and I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone in a similar position.

I attended Mr Dowen's clinic today and the service I received was absolutely fantastic. Mr Dowen organised my imaging before I even attended and then promptly saw me in person. Mr Dowen was extremely professional during the history taking and examination part of the consultation and ensured I was comfortable and not in pain throughout. I also appreciated him asking me about the impact my symptoms were having on me and what my key concerns and challenges were. He explained my diagnosis in a way I could understand and then provided a detailed explanation of how best to manage it, as well as what to look out for which may warrant a return to clinic. We received an excellent level of care and support. The doctor was able to assess my daughter and provide a diagnosis on the same day, which brought us much-needed clarity and reassurance after a very difficult few weeks. They were incredibly supportive, gentle and sensitive with my daughter, taking the time to explain clearly what was happening in a way that she could understand without feeling frightened or overwhelmed. We felt listened to throughout. The offer to support us further, including attending a video call with her school to help plan her return, was above and beyond what we expected and made us feel we were not navigating this alone.

I was greeted by a friendly team of staff at Fitness First who directed me to a waiting area, as I was a little early. I then met my Physiotherapist who went through the initial consultation. She was very professional and thoughtful when doing anything during the examination and treatment. She carefully talked me through her findings so that I could understand her diagnosis and treatment requirements. My treatment was with Selene Cavallaro, not with the suggested people on the next question.

This hospital is pleasant to attend. It is clean- including the bathrooms and baby changing areas which are spotless. There are several small but well stocked indoor play areas for children which make a huge difference when entertaining them between appointments/ diagnostics. The on-site cafe is welcoming and extremely reasonably priced. Staff are always friendly and look happy to be there. Most importantly, appointments run on time and there is ample free parking on site.
