RTN Mental Health - Right To Choose

RTN were very good. They provided a polite, professional and respectful service. They made me feel secure in my decision and were friendly and patient when I forgot to respond with requested information. They were much quicker than the NHS service. I got my diagnosis in just over a year and am now looking forward to getting the appropriate treatment for my condition. I’m grateful to RTN for their patience and support.

Fast and prompt service and extremely efficient staff was very happy with my experience throughout the process.

My assessments were carried out in a very professional manner, the clinicians explained everything in a clear manner. The only thing that could be improved was the communication from the enquiries team took a very long time to reply to emails. All in all I am satisfied that I have had a good experience.

The folllwing is as factual as I can recall and a view of how I feel about the appointment. I had a video call with a lady who, immediately chastised me for using google AI to find out what today’s appointment would be about. I took little notice of this attitude and of her opinion of my reason for using alcohol as a coping mechanism as “an excuse”. (I may have said something other than this to elicit this response but I can’t remember). Continuing, the lady was sympathetic with my private family struggles and asked reasonable questions about what has lead me to this point. Ultimately she decided that I did not have ADHD which I am satisfied with but possibly some autism traits. I continued to talk for a little and the lady listened but I knew that the appointment was over. I came off the phone feeling, judged, upset, shamed and angry. To get to this point after many years, It has taken me a few hours to shake this feeling of nervousness and upset. If this is what ‘duty of care’ looks like, I want no part of it.

I felt as though some of the resources werent very helpful and there was a lack of empathy from the psychiatrist. I didn’t necessarily feel listened to or as though they fully understood the importance of some of my worries. The person who did the autism assessment was very nice and I have no complaints about them.

Poor communication & updates with what stage the process is at, was told the second appointment was an outcome meeting however no outcome was provided and further questionnaires were not sent, extremely slow and distressing process after having explained how the delay affects my work, education & mental health.

So far,everytime I’ve spoken to someone or had a meeting it’s been good, I’ve been able to ask as much questions as I’ve needed and everything has been explained to me so that I can understand.

Just the loveliest and kindest doctor ever. So thorough caring and knowledgeable. We hope we can see him for the follow up.
