Dr. Charmian Round

Dr. Charmian Round is a chartered clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience working in the NHS. She has a strong background in providing assessments, therapy, training, support, and consultation to neurodiverse adults and children, as well as to their families and other professionals. Dr. Round has worked with a diverse range of people, addressing needs related to age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, culture, co-existing mental health conditions, and learning difficulties or disabilities.

For the past five years, she has been the Clinical Lead for the Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Autism Assessment Service for adults without a learning disability. In this role, she supports professionals across health, social care, and the voluntary sector with training, supervision, and advice to make services more accessible for individuals with diverse needs. She also offers clinical consultancy to mainstream mental health professionals on adapting their services for autistic individuals.

Dr. Round is an active member of the Derbyshire Autism Partnership Board and works on co-production initiatives such as developing informational leaflets, autism passports, and Autism boxes for clinical settings. She is part of national networks that focus on autism and ADHD assessments, and is trained in globally recognised diagnostic tools including DISCO, ADI-R, ADOS, and the newly launched ACIA tool, as well as the Diagnostic Interview for ADHD Adults (DIVA). Additionally, she has lectured on Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programs at both the University of Leicester and the University of Trent, and holds memberships with the British Psychology Society and the Association of Clinical Psychologists, along with clinical registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
