I booked and paid for a private online consultation with Dr Vinesan Naidoo regarding persistent hyperprolactinaemia confirmed on blood tests (monomeric prolactin approx. 590 mIU/L; total prolactin approx. 704 mIU/L) with ongoing symptoms including low libido, low energy, anxiety, poor sleep and mood issues. This appointment was extremely disappointing. From the start, I was interrupted repeatedly and not allowed to explain my symptoms properly. The doctor quickly dismissed the issue as “physiological” and “not a medical concern” despite clearly abnormal blood results and clear symptoms affecting my quality of life. What I found most frustrating is that he seemed to assume he knew better than I do about what I’m experiencing, essentially implying that raised prolactin at these levels cannot cause symptoms — even though it is well known that prolactin elevation can affect libido, mood, energy and sexual function in men. There was no structured assessment and no clear plan. The consultation did not cover: possible causes of raised prolactin repeat testing plan (fasting, stress-controlled, early morning) medication/supplement review endocrine referral pathway whether pituitary imaging should be considered if prolactin remains elevated As a patient paying privately, I expected a professional, thorough medical discussion. Instead, I felt dismissed and rushed, and left with no help, no reassurance, and no next steps. I cannot recommend this doctor based on my experience. I paid for a medical consultation, but what I received was an opinion with no investigation, no plan and no clinical value.

My appointment could have been rearranged for another date but everything was done to ensure my operation went ahead that day. This I very much appreciated because I was really worried about having the procedure. I was very nervous but Dr Ho explained what he was doing and what to expect every step of the way and this helped me to relax. I felt everything before, during and after the operation was explained clearly and fully. Back at home I found all the booklets and other paperwork very easy to follow and so I knew what to expect and what to do. After I had bathed the eye the following day I could already see clearly. Having had an excellent experience with Mr Shukla performing a total hip replacement on 3 November 2025, I mentioned to him at the 6-weeks review meeting that I was experiencing increasing pain in all the joints in my hands. He explained what it might be and wrote to my GP to get me referred straight back to him. This all happened very quickly,, despite being an NHS patient and I saw Mr Shukla again on 27 January 2026. We reviewed x-rays and could see plainly that I have osteoarthritis in both hands. He offered a range of potential treatments and we decided to go for injections into the most badly affected joints. Mr Shukla has been excellent throughout and I look forward to getting a date for my procedure soon.

My experience of the hospital was very good. The staff were amazing especially Jayne on Day surgery and David at the ward at night. The only downside that came to my attention is being told that there was no lactose free milk for my tea. The lady, I did catch her name, told me that she wasn’t aware of my overnight stay. She asked me if I was aware that I was staying overnight and I replied ‘yes’. She then went on to ask if I had put it in my forms prior to attending and I said yes. She kept on going on it wasn’t her fault she had been told. A bit of advice would be that she overshared. She clearly sorted the problem as the following morning someone had picked up the milk and I had it with my tea.

The arrangements for my appointment were clear and I was able to park easily. The waiting area was clean and comfortable and staff at every level were kind, helpful and polite. Mr. Bahl has helped me so much to overcome a problem which was severely impacting upon my life and reducing my confidence for social contact. He has been very clear about all issues and risks so that, when I underwent surgery, I was clear about what outcome I might experience. The plan for going forward is clear and, at every turn, I have received information which has helped me to feel a full participant in my treatment plan.
