About Mr Neil Segaren

Neil is a Consultant Paediatric and Young Adult Hip Surgeon at the world-renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, the UK’s number one specialist orthopaedic hospital. He regularly manages some of the country's most complex paediatric and young adult musculoskeletal problems and a significant portion of his practice involves tertiary referral work, sent on from other hospitals because of its difficult or rare nature.

Neil specialises in all aspects of non-spinal paediatric orthopaedics and has super-specialist expertise in advanced paediatric, adolescent and young adult hip preservation techniques and neuromuscular disorders such as cerebral palsy. He is triple fellowship trained, having spent one year at Sick Kids, Toronto the home of modern-day paediatric hip surgery and eighteen months at Great Ormond Steet, the best children's Hospitals in North America and Europe respectively.  Two years at Europe's busiest level one trauma centre (The Royal London), gave him a wide experience of caring for injured children.  He has a passion for computer navigated bone cuts (osteotomies) to improve surgical accuracy and human factors that reduce medical error.

With three young children of his own, Neil understands the large impact that surgery has on children and their families. He strives to ensure that every patient and their family feels supported and cared for throughout their journey with him, whilst specifically tailoring all treatments to their individual needs. As a concerned parent and clinician, he has been specially trained to respect, understand and manipulate the body's ability to ‘self-heal' (remodel) over time and he aims to be as non-invasive as possible to maximise results and minimise disruption.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Segaren and the entire team for the outstanding care given to our son, Daniel. Before meeting Dr. Segaren, we had travelled to many private hospitals around the world searching for the right treatment. it was extremely important for us to find a surgeon and team who fully understood his condition and took every necessary precaution. From our very first appointment, Daniel and I immediately felt we were in safe and secure hands. Dr. Segaren always explained everything clearly, in detail, and never rushed us. His professionalism, kindness, patience, and confidence gave us so much reassurance throughout the entire process. It has now been one year since PAO hip surgery, and the results have truly changed his life. now pain-free, running around, playing sports again, and enjoying life as a normal teenager. He often says this has been possible thanks to God and Dr. Segaren. We are also incredibly thankful to the whole team who supported Daniel during his recovery. The care, encouragement, and physiotherapy support provided by the hospital have been absolutely amazing and made such a positive difference to his recovery journey. We cannot thank Dr. Segaren and the team enough for the life-changing care they provided. We will always be grateful for everything they have done for our family.

20 May 2026

De Segaren took the time to truly listen and showed a genuine interest in my 15 year-old daughter as a person, not just a patient. What impressed us most was his thoughtful and measured approach rather than immediately recommending surgery, he carefully considered what was genuinely in her best interest. This was a refreshing contrast to another surgeon we had seen previously. We felt reassured, respected, and confident in his care.
