Top feedback

“Dr Mistry is polite, empathetic and looks at the whole picture as to how to get you the best outcomes, his acknowledgment that life can get in the way and his suggestions in how you can adjust is really useful to aid your sleep. Along with his willingness to refer so that not only your quality of sleep but overall quality of life can be improved is refreshing. With his interventions I’ve managed to go from disrupted sleep every night to managing sleep effectively despite working in a job that has no set shift patterns.“

    About

Dr Dipesh Mistry is a Consultant Sleep Physician and Psychiatrist in the Insomnia and Behavioural Sleep Medicine clinic in the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine. He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of insomnia, as well as other sleep disorders including restless leg syndrome, sleepwalking (somnambulism), nightmares, night terrors and REM sleep behaviour disorders.

After qualifying from the Royal Free & University College London Medical School, Dr Mistry pursued specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry. Whilst completing his specialist training at the Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Mistry gained valuable experience working in a wide range of psychiatric specialties including Liaison (the interface between General Medicine and Psychiatry) Home Treatment Teams and a Complex Depression, Anxiety and Trauma Service.

Dr Mistry is passionate about supporting his patients with optimising their sleep. This is extremely important because suboptimal sleep is known to act as both a trigger, and a perpetuating factor for a range of mental health conditions, in addition to having a detrimental impact on a person’s quality of life.

In 2021, Dr Mistry was elected as Honorary Treasurer Elect of the Sleep Medicine Section of the Royal Society of Medicine, where he has served as a Council Member since 2017. Dr Mistry enjoys teaching medical students, and has served as an examiner at University College London Medical School (UCL) since 2012.

Engaging and very active listening to understand what’s been going on for me, with helpful and astute questions to build a thorough picture of current and past issues. Really clear summary of history and diagnosis, which then led to discussion of treatment and interventions including healthy regard for self-help being a good fit for me rather than just medications in isolation.

Dr Mistry helped me with my ongoing diagnosis of complex PTSD. Throughout our appointment I felt listened to, and his responses/explanations were delivered in a way that was accessible for a non-medical professional. Finally, I was given a treatment plan that is straightforward and full of potential for recovery.
