When booking the consultation with Nick Panay, the earliest available date was 2 months in advance. I was required to pay the full £395 under pressure at time, being told that the consultation would be lost unless I paid by 5pm. My understanding that this appointment would be for specialist, in-depth input tailored to a complex clinical history. Given that context, I was disappointed that the consultation felt limited to a reiteration of guideline-based recommendations, with little opportunity to explore causation, individual nuance, or the specific questions I had prepared. At several points during the consultation, I felt that my questions were closed down rather than explored, and the overall tone felt more directive than supportive. Given my long and complex medical history, I had hoped for a more compassionate and collaborative approach. Instead, I left the consultation feeling unheard and dismissed, which was distressing. I had hoped for greater depth and collaborative discussion, particularly in light of the significant upfront cost. I was given no additional value beyond what I already knew and was told in any case, that I required a further consultation to finalise a treatment plan. I have been in contact with the practice and explained that the consultation did not meet the reasonable expectations set by the cost, structure, or positioning of this service. I appreciate that since, I have received a considered response from the Practice Manager and the consultation and fee are being reviewed.

⸻ We are incredibly grateful to our consultant obstetrician, Dr Shalini Chawla, for the outstanding care we received throughout my pregnancy and delivery. From the very beginning, she was thoughtful, thorough, and always focused on ensuring the safest and best possible outcome for both me and my baby. Given my previous myomectomy, slightly raised blood pressure, and a transverse lie, she carefully assessed all risks and recommended that my planned C-section be brought forward from 39 weeks to 38 weeks to minimise any potential labour-related risks. This decision gave us complete reassurance and confidence that everything was being managed with great care and expertise. What truly set Dr Chawla apart was how accessible and supportive she was at every stage. She was always available for any concerns, no matter how small, and her care did not stop at delivery. Her aftercare was exceptional- she was incredibly motherly, kind, and attentive, and went out of her way to arrange additional support and care for us when needed. We always felt listened to, never rushed, and fully supported during what can be an overwhelming time. We couldn’t have asked for better care and will always be deeply thankful to Dr Chawla for her professionalism, compassion, and dedication to achieving the very best outcome for our family.

The Portland Hospital truly felt like a five-star hotel combined with exceptional medical care. Their warmth and professionalism made such a difference to our experience and helped us feel confident and supported every step of the way. Mr. Tsepov explained the plan clearly, set realistic expectations, and answered my questions without rushing. His calm and confident manner helped me feel safe, especially during moments where I felt anxious. Vicky, the nurse, was outstanding. She was attentive, warm, and reassuring. She noticed what I needed and acted quickly. That kind of care matters when you feel vulnerable. Nadia, Mr. Tsepov’s PA, was organised and responsive. Communication was clear and quick, and the admin side ran smoothly. That reduced stress at a time when I had limited energy. Thank you to everyone involved. Dr Deepak Parasuraman made both my daughter and me feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We were attending for a children’s ADHD assessment, and I was very anxious as my daughter is excellent at masking her symptoms. Before the assessment even began, Dr Parasuraman took time to build rapport with her — making her laugh and helping her feel comfortable — which allowed her to be her true, confident self. He is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced. The room felt like an open, safe space to talk, and he explained everything clearly while thoughtfully observing my daughter. Dr Parasuraman was professional, understanding, and genuinely empathetic throughout. I highly recommend MUMS for this service, particularly with Dr Deepak Parasuraman, and will be recommending them to anyone who needs similar support. From the friendly welcome on reception on my first\every visit, through the countless appointments with orthodontics, prosthodontics, hygiene and x-ray, everyone and everything was spot on. The coordination and communication between the different departments through the course of my 17 months of treatment was super professional and the outcome is nothing sort of exceptional. Special shout out to Chris for getting my teeth in fantastic shape for the prosthodontics and to Photini for the wizardry she demonstrated with the rebuilding work. I was honestly lost for words when I seen my renovated smile for the first time. Mr Jamie Vatish

Mr Vatish was attentive and gave clear answers to my questions. He was knowledgeable and helped me to understand the procedure I was about to have. He explained what a biopsy was and how it was taken. He then explained the potential results. Once I was given the diagnosis, he explained the surgery I would have and what he would do in terms of taking a margin of tissue from around the site of the cancer and sending it to the lab. When the results came back, he gave me clear results and was able to answer my questions about my future, giving me examples of how likely reoccurance might be, in terms of percentage. Mr Vatish is a very skilled surgeon. I only have a very slight scar a month after surgery. I would highly recommend Mr Vatish for any surgery required, you will be in very good hands.

We first saw Dr Burmester when our son was dealing with a prolonged series of illnesses. She was extremely thorough with her diagnostics, explained everything to us very clearly, and guided his recovery in a way that made us feel calm, reassured, and well supported throughout a very stressful time. She was also incredibly generous with her time, answering multiple follow-up questions via email, which was immensely comforting for us as anxious parents. We have been seeing her for over six months now and I would highly recommend her — she is knowledgeable, caring, and someone we trust completely with our child’s care. I would also like to mention Sophie, the clinic manager, who is consistently helpful, professional, and responsive, making the overall experience at the clinic even better.

After a mole on my shoulder began to grow, I booked a private consultation with a specialist who had removed others by Crotherapy. He told me that he could only do it after the infection which had caused it to change, had been cured and prescribed a course of antibiotics. The infection increased after several courses of six different antibiotics which were prescribed by my NHS practice were not able to halt its progress. My daughter Annie convinced me to book an appointment at Essex Private GP. I was seen on the same day and the correct antibiotics to target the infection were identified and prescribed at my first visit. There is already a significant improvement, thank you.

Treatment was prescribed promptly in anticipation of a potentially serious issue, with careful and attentive follow-up, and an appropriate referral arranged swiftly. The doctor listened closely, showed genuine empathy, and took time to understand how the symptoms were affecting overall wellbeing. There was no sense of being rushed, and everything was explained clearly and calmly. Overall, Deben delivered a supportive, patient-centred experience - calm, kind, and reassuring from start to finish.

The staff was great. I was on the ground floor ward and was well taken care off. Members of staff were kind, courteous and helpful. I specifically note that staff members such as Sibo, Clementina, Clara and Ashy were very good and efficient and overall made my treatment a positive experience. My one to one therapist was excellent, in that Holly. I do however note that the food quality was inconsistent, at times the meals were good but there were times where things fell short as limited alternatives were available.
