I had two excellent experiences at the Cleveland yesterday. First Norman did the most thorough and careful echocardiogram. He took endless trouble so as to give the cardiologist views of my heart and its valves from every angle and perspective. The cardiologist was most impressed and helped by all the additional information this gave him. Dr Sam Dawkins, my cardiologist told me and showed me by using these images how well the TAVI and the reduction of the septum are working as they have not only hugely improved flow through my aortic valve but also through my mitral valve. Dr Dawkins is a brilliant cardiologist and an amazing thinker. I was faced with open heart surgery to replace two valves and excision of thickened areas of heart muscle; a very risky operation with a long and maybe unsuccessful period of recovery. Dr Dawkins devised the novel procedures he carried out on me on 24/10/24. The success of this is totally down to his skill and the trouble he took. He was excellently supported by the doctors and staff of the Cleveland during the operation. I hope he is able to share the knowledge of my operation with other cardiologists so more patients can avoid open heart surgery and be given back their health the way I was. Thank you Dr Dawkins

The cataract in my right eye, which had been quite noticeable, was operated on in the second week of November this year. The less advanced cataract in the left eye was dealt with a fortnight later. My second eye is still settling in, but my surgeon, Mr Park, appears to have produced an excellent overall outcome for me. Having discussed the options with Mr Park, I chose to have a lens in my right (dominant) eye which enables me to see at distance, whilst for the left, I have one which is more suited to closer work. I may need reading glasses for really close work, but using my computer screen presents no problem. Asking questions was encouraged and all queries were dealt with clearly. The staff, and particularly the opthalmic technicians, obviously knew what they needed to do in support of the surgical procedures and all was handled very efficiently. Special thanks to Nurse Debbie who was looking after me, a somewhat anxious patient, before and after the two operations.

Dr Barke looked after my son following a shoulder injury, and his care was outstanding from start to finish. He acted swiftly to organise appropriate imaging, arranged expert surgical input, and ensured seamless physiotherapy follow-up. What was most valuable was that Dr Barke took overall responsibility for coordinating the entire process and leading my son’s return to sport. As a very keen sportsman, my son was understandably devastated at the prospect of missing out, but Dr Barke was incredibly reassuring, supportive, and clear throughout putting clear plans in place. He not only managed the injury expertly but also recognised the emotional impact of being sidelined, which made a huge difference. Thanks to his guidance and structured approach, my son felt supported, motivated, and confident as he worked back to sport. I would highly recommend Dr Barke to any young sportsman and their family.

My journey started with a random blood test where high calcium and parathyroid levels were found. After further testing I was diagnosed with Hyperparathyroidism. I then set out to find a surgeon to complete my parathyroidectomy. After an extensive search I found Shad Khan. My initial consultation went well and my surgery was scheduled at the New Foscote Hospital in Banbury. I would like to thank Mr Khan for his excellent care and skill, my recovery has been smooth, and I am very pleased with the outcome of my surgery. I found Mr Khan to be an exceptional surgeon with incredible skill and truly compassionate, and reassuring approach. Mr Khan's expertise truly made a difference to my life, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been in his care. I would also like to extend my thanks to all the supporting staff at the New Foscote Hospital who were also very kind and professional.

I want to share my sincere thanks to the entire team at Nuffield Health for the exceptional care I received during my recent surgery. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly attentive and helpful. They were constantly checking on me to ensure I was comfortable, and they never made me feel rushed; they absolutely made sure I was feeling good and stable before they let me go home. The facility itself was impressively clean, which made me feel much more at ease, and I was pleasantly surprised that the food was actually great! The kindness and professionalism of the team made a stressful situation so much easier to handle. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of me.

The Clinic was a little difficult to find but once there the staff were excellent and very efficient. My appointment was on time and the waiting area was warm and comfortable. The consultant was very helpful and explained everything and answered all my questions. I wasn’t rushed or meant to feel unimportant. The nurse was helpful and reassuring. There had been an administrative problem that I had mentioned to the lady on arrival and that was completely sorted out by the time I left which was extremely efficient. Yesterday I had a phone call from Mr Yang who came up with a plan for my latest UTI . We had a full and informative discussion. Within 5 mons of his call I had a private prescription emailed to me and within 30 mins I had a phone call from Forbury saying my UTI vaccine was ready for collection. I went to the Forbury and the vaccine was all ready for me complete with cooling pack to keep it cold. During the afternoon I also received a very accurate clinic letter from Mr Yang and copied to my GP. All very speedy and efficient and much appreciated.

I’m a quite nervous patient and I always inform staff of that plus the fact that I’m on blood thinners! The nurse putting in the cannula took ages and it felt sore! However as I don’t look at the needle going in I didn’t realise what was happening until another nurse saw through the window and came rushing in and pulled the rubber tourniquet off my arm! I looked down and saw that blood was gushing down my arm! I said OMG and was shocked and it sent me into stress
