I have been very happy with my overall experience at Vision Scotland Edinburgh. The staff were both friendly and professional. I was well informed regarding my choices and the procedure. I have been thrilled with the result of the cataract surgery. I was given an appointment very soon after the referral. I would however like to let you know how I felt the experience on the day of the operation could have been improved. Firstly I was not sent the Post Op information which would have been most helpful to read before the procedure. Secondly I got very cold in theatre and was given a blanket but it did take me ages to warm up. It would have been better to have been given a blanket before the procedure started. There is a lot of cold water being used which does add to the chill. Thirdly I was not told to bring sunglasses for the journey home or to bring analogies both of which I would very much appreciated as I lived over a hour away. On the journey home I became extremely uncomfortable. Finally the roof of my mouth and tongue got a little burnt I think by the coffee as they must have been a little bit anaesthetised still when I had the coffee. The coffee however i have to say was absolutely welcome and the best thing along with the toasted teacake. I found it very reassuring to have a telephone number to call which I did use. I also very much appreciate the phone call from the nurse a couple of days post op. I hope you find the above comments of use. I do not wish to criticise as overall it was an extremely good experience and I would and have already recommended Vision Scotland. ( I did tell my neighbour to ask for a blanket!)

Dr Catherine Spencer Smith was the first doctor to correctly diagnose my hip problem after I had previously been misdiagnosed by the NHS with a femoral hernia. Her assessment was extremely thorough and helped me clearly understand the true cause of my symptoms, including how they started after bunion surgery. Following my hip arthroscopy, she also helped me understand the cause of my lower back pain during recovery, reassuring me that the surgery itself was not the issue. She gave clear guidance on the physiotherapy I should follow and even offered to contact my physiotherapist directly, which I felt went well beyond what is normally expected. Her examinations are always precise, thoughtful, and very reassuring. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking a careful and expert musculoskeletal opinion.

Although this was my second hip replacement the experience was very different and unexpected. Mr Stott had explained that it was different but not really explained the different rehab. The physio I saw at Stride (the one recommended by Spire). Their understanding of the different reha was poor and essentially recommended a programme neither specific to the operation nor the individual. A really unique service in this country would e a closer tie between surgeon and physio and specialist physios who really understand which muscles cut where the inflammation likely to occur etc. This would gratly ease the patients mind and expectations

My daughter has had cataract surgery on both eyes on the 21st January 2026 everything went according to what we were told the whole surgery went well she was very pleased with the procedure. I would just like to say Marie who was her nurse was brilliant, she was very caring, put my daughter at ease all the time, she was there all the time and answered all the questions we had and was always available on the phone . In a world all consumed with AI and perfection, I can honestly say Mr Fady Sedra outshines AI. 5 Stars for Mr Fady Sedra and the staff at The Cromwell Hospital, after my ACDF surgery I can say Mr Fady Sedra's attention to detail is unmatched. He has an excellent bedside manner and displayed a level of professionalism that is rare to find. Mr Fady Sedra went above and beyond to make sure I was well cared for. The X-Ray of my neck should be in an art gallery as it is truly a work of art by Mr Fady Sedra. I highly recommend for any complex spinal work.

I find Mr Ieong accurately knowledgeable and very personable. I would recommend him for any foot and ankle diagnosis and treatment. He has a wealth of experience to support this comment.

The staff at the hospital were all very friendly, helpful and efficient. They understood the importance of admission for surgery to the patient and were very supportive. All of the clinical and medical staff were first class, but the support staff were also excellent. The room was clean and comfortable and I was well looked after. The menu options were very good and the food was delicious. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending this excellent hospital.

Not a good experience as I imagined paying privately would give. Unable to get prescription due to Dr putting my name as prescriber ? Telephone answering machine usually and although tried to sort I was left without medication . Reacted to dressings again so not feeling good at moment 😩 Please remember conversation during the procedure makes it a lot more invasive. Hoping this time I will free from pain !

They helped me create a meal plan that was suited to my dietary requirements as well as a maintenance plan for continuing recovery after my discharge.
