I am writing to provide feedback following the recent online ADHD assessment regarding my son, Kaiyan. This feedback is offered constructively, with the intention of supporting shared understanding and ensuring the final report reflects the full context. This appointment was attended at a point of significant exhaustion. As a parent of a child with complex needs, substantial time, emotional energy, and personal resources have been invested over many years in seeking understanding, assessment, and appropriate support. The intention in attending this assessment was to gain clarity, guidance, and support during an increasingly difficult period. While there was calm engagement with Kaiyan and some review of history, the overall experience did not feel sufficiently grounded in the full developmental, medical, and contextual picture. Key aspects of the urgency of the referral, the cumulative impact on family functioning, and the extent of previous attempts to seek help did not appear to be fully explored. It was helpful that leg pain, dyspraxia, and a whole-child perspective were considered; however, these observations would have benefited from fuller integration of existing history and context. Discussion surrounding ADHD diagnosis and medication occurred without clear acknowledgement of the prolonged and often challenging efforts already undertaken to access support. This was particularly difficult, as it was experienced as implying that the pursuit of assessment was primarily medication-focused, rather than reflecting the reality of the situation or the breadth of concerns relating to anxiety, phobias, demand avoidance, and overall functioning. It was upsetting to hear that the low school ADHD rating was considered to limit evidence across two settings. When increased conflict between Kaiyan and his father was mentioned, the subsequent focus on punishment and physical discipline—while recognised as part of standard ADHD enquiry—was experienced as misaligned with the context in which the information was shared. The tone of this line of questioning felt difficult, particularly given the absence of any safeguarding concerns, and contributed to a sense that parental actions were being scrutinised rather than the child’s needs being explored. This experience was reminiscent of previous NHS interactions in which parental concern has been perceived as problematic rather than contextualised, including prior paediatric consultations relating to leg pain where concerns were minimised. It is also important to note that Kaiyan’s father is highly involved in his care and daily regulation needs, including carefully preparing routines such as ensuring his lunchbox is appropriately organised. During the appointment, there was limited opportunity to convey the extent of prior investigations relating to leg pain, vitamin D, dyspraxia (which has been explored and ruled out), and possible hypermobility, despite extensive engagement with GP, NHS, orthopaedic, and specialist services. Greater exploratory questioning and integration of existing reports may have supported a more complete understanding of this history. Overall, the assessment appeared to move relatively quickly towards formulation and advice-giving. For a parent already experiencing significant fatigue and pressure, this approach felt misaligned with the need for collaborative exploration and validation of lived experience. Rather than feeling supported or guided, the interaction was experienced as judgement, which contributed to feelings of inadequacy at a time when reassurance and clarity were being sought. The cumulative developmental history, current level of impact, and constraints faced by the family did not appear to be fully reflected within the appointment. The experience was consistent with interactions where parental concerns and lived expertise are positioned as secondary to professional formulation, rather than integrated as essential clinical information. I saw Mr Chahal yesterday after struggling with ankle problems since pregnancy, and more recently suffering two injuries that have caused my ankle to give way without warning. He was incredibly kind, calm, and transparent, taking the time to explain his thoughts clearly and compassionately. There was absolutely no pressure to make any decisions, and as someone who struggles with anxiety, this meant more to me than I can put into words. He explained possible causes and treatment options in a way that was reassuring rather than alarming, and I never once felt panicked. Sadly, some consultants can make you feel as though you’re being dramatic or exaggerating your symptoms, but Mr Chahal was the complete opposite. There was no judgement, only understanding, respect, and genuine care. I felt truly listened to, and that alone was incredibly comforting. Mr Chahal is everything you would hope for in a consultant. Calming, honest, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. He has a quiet confidence that immediately builds trust, and it’s clear he is an expert in his field. I left my appointment feeling hopeful, supported, and reassured that I am finally in the right hands. Thank you so much, Mr Chahal. When my husband and I found out about our pregnancy it was immediately clear to us that high quality personalised obstetric care was going to be a key priority for us. Luckily we were recommended Jess by our (also very lovely) GP and we couldn't have wished for a better outcome on all fronts: Jess' track record gave us a lot of trust initially and interacting with her it quickly became clear how she built it - her friendly and skilful guidance helped us through each stage of the pregnancy and even took away my fear of the c-section, which was indeed executed perfectly by her and the wider team she put together. The most important feature of the package we booked in our view was the constant access to her and her team via text and phone, which gave us the reassurance we needed - and which was absolutely instrumental in helping us manage an ankle fracture I sustained in my second trimester as we were able to make the best decisions for our baby by getting the right input through the initial night we spent in A&E and also further down the line. We would absolutely want Jess by our side again should we be lucky enough to experience a second pregnancy!

I cannot thank Mr Nick Elkington enough for the outstanding care and surgical skill he showed during my laparoscopic hysterectomy on 5th December 2025 at Frimley Park Hospital. Despite concerns that my tumour might rupture, the surgery went perfectly — it did not burst as predicted, and I was able to have keyhole surgery with minimal wounding, which has healed beautifully. Mr Elkington combines exceptional technical ability with genuine care and compassion. He explains things clearly, honestly and without any unnecessary fluff — just down-to-earth facts delivered with kindness and respect. His approach inspired total trust and gave both me and my family immense reassurance at a very difficult time. I really appreciated being able to get a quick appointment and having my scan done by a doctor radiologist who could then explain what he saw and give me some advice. The scan was done quickly and it allowed me to promptly get the scan done for my GP. I was super pleased that the report arrived quickly, it was there in my emails before I even got home! There was a chaperone there too, the clinic was nice and the receptionist was very warm and friendly and efficient. All in all a great discovery for me as I felt the prices were very reasonable for private scans so I could use the service for regular health checks..

Dr Tang was simply wonderful. He was very kind, gentle and understanding of my worries and health problem. He explained the procedures well and reassured me. After the endoscopies he reported back and explained clearly what he had found. All the staff at Hadley Wood were also extremely friendly, competent and reassuring, particularly Nurse Grace. Dr Tangs secretary was extremely efficient and friendly. She was quick to respond to my messages and ensured my consultations and treatment happened smoothly and speedily.

The therapists and dietitians are very passionate about helping patients and clearly have a genuine desire to help people. The group therapy sessions and the structure of the day was very helpful in helping my recovery. When I first came I was a bit confused about a lot of things and maybe communication in terms of meals and rules etc could be better explained in a more compassionate manner. The other patients and staff are the most wonderful lovely people and I am so grateful to have met them.

I recently visited AURA for a routine examination and dental hygiene appointment. The team conveniently scheduled both so I could have everything done in a single visit. Dental hygienist Marta provided a thorough yet gentle clean and polish, along with helpful advice on maintaining good tooth and gum health. Dr Nadine Skipp is extremely knowledgeable and skilled, but also very kind, and took the time to explain everything clearly. Everyone at AURA was friendly, professional, and welcoming.

Had a review on my right shoulder today with Mr Gurdip Shergill at New Hall Hospital. He explained in detail the issues with my shoulder and how we could move forward with a plan. I was able to make an informed decision and surgery was decided. A rare gentleman in this busy world and with a smile. Very professional, never felt rushed and was given the option to ask questions. Very impressed and have asked for my husband to be also referred for treatment under Mr Shergill.

Spire Harpenden Hospital

The only area for improvement is the check-in process - quite often there is a queue of people waiting at reception and the vehicle registration screen is separate to the check-in form, which isn't very efficient. The waiting area and exam rooms are clean and tidy, the staff is friendly and helpful. I prefer coming here despite it being a longer drive than my nearest private hospital because of the great experience I've had previously.

I found the number of emails related to the appointments to be unnecessary and extreme. I was asked to complete a pre appointment questionnaire online. I did so and then received 3 further emails and a text message asking me to do the same. I have also received 4 emails asking me to give this feedback. Please look at your system. Filling your clients inboxes with multiple emails is not helpful for anyone.
