Overall, Spire Elland was great and I would happily return should I require any further procedures in the future. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and everything is very clean. I think the main thing letting the hospital down is patient communication. All appointments and comms are recorded and delivered via an app. If you don't want to or aren't able to download the app (like me), you do end up being left a little in the dark about things. For example, I had been given a surgery date fairly soon after my initial consultation, which was great, however I hadn't been informed that there would be multiple pre-operative assessment appointments to attend - all of which were on-site at Spire Elland, which is around an hour's drive for us. On one occasion, I had to make last-minute arrangements to move clients around as I'd been unaware of an upcoming appointment - I'd received no email, no text, no phone call, no letter. I just so happened to log in to my online portal and find the appointment date there. I moved clients around so I could attend, and just a couple of days before my appointment received a text message to say the date had changed, with no explanation provided. I called to try and find out why this might be, but was met with a dismissive reply of, "We just had to move it". All of the documents outlining the process for my surgery and the prep I should do beforehand were provided online, and the online portal isn't the simplest to navigate, so accessing them wasn't as easy as it could have been. When I was admitted for my day surgery, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, although I did find that I received a blunt reply whenever I asked a question about anything. This was my first ever surgery and my first time being put under general anaesthetic, so naturally I was quite nervous. Some of the members of staff were very helpful and supportive, but others seemed to have little patience, which wasn't ideal and only served to make me more anxious. When I came to after the surgery, I had been expecting to have a bit of a handover with someone so I could at least find out how it had gone and what they had/hadn't found. Unfortunately, Mr Gan was occupied in another surgery, and so I was discharged before having the chance to speak to him. I asked the nurses for some clarification - any brief notes or insights they might be able to give to put my mind at ease a bit until I could speak with Mr Gan - but this was met with quite curt replies. I was told no one could read Mr Gan's handwriting so no one could tell me any information, which at the time was quite frustrating as I'd been dealing with the pain for so long and had viewed the laparoscopy as the light at the end of the tunnel. It was disheartening to leave the hospital without any real clarification of the issue. Now having had my final follow-up with Mr Gan, I can say with confidence that all of my questions have been answered, and I feel validated and supported as a patient. However, I can't help but feel that had the communication from the hospital team been a little better throughout the process, it wouldn't have been so frustrating to wake up after the surgery and find that no one could tell me how it had gone.

I have been with the practice for a number of years and have mostly been pleased with the experience. The only thing I have a problem with is that the staff of all kinds do not speak loudly enough. There is always a lot of noise from machines etc. and soft voices, and sometimes accents, make it difficult to understand., especially when it has a medical content. Also nobody seems to understand that they should make sure the patient is comfortable, as the chairs vary in design and all do not adjust when required. Otherwise I am pleased to have found the practice many years ago and have gone through a good few different staff members in that time, so the experience has been interesting, despite the stairs! I am lucky to have good teeth.

The surgery itself was quick and completely comfortable—I felt reassured throughout. Post-operative care was thorough, with attentive follow-up reviews and clear guidance at every stage. Dr Coker always presents in a professional yet approachable manner. She is very clear in explaining any tests results; her treatment plan; and any further investigations she thinks should be undertaken. The language she uses is accessible. I required a caesarean birth because my baby was in the breech position. Stelios was really warm and kind. He offered me a scan on the day to check if my baby had turned the right way around before the surgery. He listened to my birth preferences (delayed cord cutting and skin to skin) and my preferences were respected. I am sure this contributed to the success we have had with breastfeeding and my baby seems very healthy. My incision is also healing well, I did not have any infection or complications and we were able to go home after just staying for one night in the hospital, which I am very grateful for.

I had a fantastic experience with Dr D’Souza and couldn’t recommend him highly enough. He was extremely professional, kind, patient, and friendly throughout my appointment. He took the time to fully listen to all of my concerns and carefully explained all of my test results in detail, which really helped alleviate a lot of my worries about my heart. I never felt rushed and genuinely felt heard and reassured. Dr D’Souza has a wonderful manner and made what could have been a stressful experience feel calm and supportive. The staff were nice and supportive but the doctor Ravi Ratnavel was unprofessional in both visits. He had no empathy towards me as his patient, didn’t show that he cared at all. He gets defensive when asked questions and eventually told me he lost fascination in my condition. He also said I’m obsessing for asking questions within my rights as a patient, especially as his inputs have not been considerate caring or consistent. The administration and governance committee decided that his behavior is aligned with quality care so I would not recommend this clinic to anyone

Gave me confidence re a long standing health issue lasting 20 years and gave hope re a final resolution to end my pain. Total right hip replacement, felt reassured before, during and after the surgery. Tony was honest about the surgery and totally professional but the outcome has exceeded expectations I feel like a new person. Please put any doubt aside about this surgery, it’s gonna be tough for two weeks but once you reach the other side of that you have cracked it, and after six weeks you won’t believe the journey you have been on. Do the exercises as much as possible, keep moving on those crutches and look forward to a better life.

On arrival I was greeted by Dr Baldwin who apologised for being 20 minutes late on starting my appointment. We sat down and as soon as I informed him of my condition and concerns he became totally disconnected and kept looking at his watch. He eventually examined me and gave a diagnosis and but without any test I chose Mr Baldwin because on his Bupa page he stated he had a keen interest in oral infection ie mouth ulcers, what I experienced was the totally the opposite, I am now left getting a second opinion

This is my 2nd hip replacement with Mr Brew. He listened to my level of disability and terrible pain levels. The dressing pro14 was brilliant, my healing was much quicker. After the dressing was removed I stopped the pain killers ( I was only in paracetamol). I remain pain free. I was very very limited with activities of daily living but now I am starting on a path to being able to walk (properly) again.. The operation has been, honestly, life changing. Thank you for your professionalism Mr Brew and team.

My experiences at the Lister hospital were generally positive. The facilities are clean and modern. The wait time was variable but generally ok. There wasn't much continuity in the nursing and sonography staff I saw which is a shame, and the quality was variable, but in general most of my experiences were with skilled and knowledgeable staff. On a few occasions I wasn't entirely confident in the nurse or sonographer treating me.

I couldn’t recommend the clinic more highly. The time between diagnosis and treatment was impressively short. I received excellent support from the doctor throughout the process. My surgery went smoothly, and I recovered very quickly, returning to full health in no time. I’m incredibly grateful to the clinic and would absolutely recommend them to anyone who isn’t feeling well but can’t quite figure out what’s wrong.

Fantastic experience again. Dr Mishra was so lovely and really put me at ease. The nurse was also very lovely and I felt they both took the time to explain the procedure and what they were doing each step of the way. The reception staff are always so welcoming and helpful. Overall it is always a great experience when I visit.
