I had two day surgery appointments for cataract removal and lens implants, two weeks apart. The first appointment was very straightforward from walking through the door to post operative discharge. The second appointment was less straightforward: despite me being first on the day’s list there was a long wait before my pre-operative assessment. When I was being prepped before going into theatre, the atmosphere in the room was not calm and reassuring, unlike the first time. There was sometimes discomfort during the procedures of anaesthetic and application of the opthalmic speculum, the latter of which has left me with a markedly arched eyebrow on that side, which is only returning to normal after nearly two weeks. As a result I felt tense entering the theatre. Everyone in the theatre was calm and reassuring however, and I was quickly put at ease. I had a positive post operative experience before being allowed home.

Went in with our 14 week old for a tongue tie consultation as the NHS wouldn’t see her as she was over 12 weeks. Mira explained everything thoroughly and in a way non medical people would understand, she was also amazing with a tired, hungry, grumpy baby. She diagnosed the tongue tie within seconds of looking in her mouth and cut it there and then with the help of the nurse. Baby cried understandably but next to no bleeding and was feeding with 5 minutes. Mira has worked a miracle and it’s like having a different baby. Thank you so much from one very tired, emotional breastfeeding mother, you are amazing!!

The visit with with MR Sinnott was in overall very great, he did excellent job with micro-suction of my ear and resolve the issue and also investigate root cause of the issue. The only think I would improve was, to explain what is really happening, when I read the letter for my GP there was much more details which I wasn't aware. The treatment received at Spire hospital was excellent. The booking procedure however was not. Booking via Vitality led to my details not being set up and me having to call a central call centre (which did not have a clue) to arrange follow up treatments. I actually raised a separate complaint about this as the process was clearly not working as well as it should which is a shame as the hospital itself is good.
