I had a mixed experience at my recent procedure. Staff were very friendly in general. However, I was shocked how inconsistent the experience was from one nurse to another. My scheduled procedure did not proceed as planned and as I came to around 6 pm on the evening of Monday First of December, I realised I was still attached to a cannula and I’m supposed to stay the night, which was not planned initially. I was told I should contact someone for my first visit to the toilet. As I did, a very irritable nurse came in and questioned me calling for I needing to use the bathroom. I had to explain to her the reason for calling is that it is my first visit to the bathroom. I then had a very painful antibiotic infusion via the cannula on my hand later that evening. The cannula was not stable. It was moving which was very painful and the nurse kept pushing it and kept asking me why I’m anxious. The same nurse came the following morning at 6 am, after I had not slept the whole night, to complete another equally painful infusion, and then proceeded to collapse a vein on my left hand When she attempted to take blood. I asked her to stop. She was not happy. I’m surprised that this is the quality of service received at a private care ward. I had both my hands with limited ability to move by the time I was to have breakfast. I was unable to use a fork and knife and was really getting upset at that stage as I was given jam containers which I was unable to open due to my hands being pin cushions . I felt helpless and burst our crying at that point: your caterer should really consider their clientele, as when a person does not have hands to use a fork and knife and is very weak then struggling to open a container is the last thing they are going to want to do. I had to call someone to open the jam for me when I eventually picked myself together. My main frustration at that point was not knowing why I am there and how long I was going to be kept for. A different nurse came in later that morning, she removed the cannula from my right hand which then enabled her to take blood from my right hand which as I explained to the other nurse as well is the only hand capable of giving blood. Simple as that, however communicating goals along way when also joined with common sense which I’m afraid to say the evening nurse did not display in spades. There was no need for all of the pain and uncertainty that I had to endure. I’m not usually a sensitive soul, I have had my fair share of hardship and I do not complain for no reason, however I feel this needs calling out, because it was completely unacceptable and could have easily been avoided.

My experience at The Portland Hospital was exceptional from start to finish. The facilities were outstanding, creating a calm and comfortable environment throughout my stay. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely cared for and supported. The midwives at The Portland Hospital were truly remarkable. They were highly skilled, attentive, and consistently present, which made me feel safe and reassured at every stage of the process. Their professionalism and warmth created an atmosphere where I could fully trust that both my baby and I were in the best hands. After the birth, the level of care continued to be outstanding. The team was incredibly helpful with everything from breastfeeding support to physiotherapy guidance, ensuring that I felt confident and well looked after as a new mother. I am deeply grateful for the care we received and can wholeheartedly recommend The Portland Hospital to anyone seeking exceptional maternity services.

I can’t recommend Mr. Richard Scawn highly enough. Before meeting him, I had seen three other surgeons and even booked the operation twice but ended up cancelling because I didn’t feel fully confident. From my very first appointment with Richard, everything felt different. He was calm, kind, and incredibly reassuring — never pushy, never rushed — and both my husband and I instantly felt we were in safe hands. I trusted him completely, and I’m so glad I did. I’m now three weeks post–lower lid blepharoplasty and absolutely over the moon with the results. My bruising was minimal and disappeared quickly, and the scar line is genuinely impeccable. I’m 39, so my skin is still fairly young, but even with a magnifying mirror I cannot see the incision. The work Richard has done is truly amazing. If you’re considering this surgery, I would wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Richard Scawn. I couldn’t be happier with my experience or the outcome.

Recent visit was ok. My Nurses could have been better organised. On arrival no one was there to greet me despite being told to be there at 7.30 am I wasn’t told no one could come up and wait with you or be present after my procedure. The room for pre theatre and after theatre was far too small for 3 beds to be in it. It was also flat too hot in the room making me feel worse.. Unprepared for someone feeling unwell after the procedure. I did feel very rushed after my procedure despite feeling unwell! The doctor on shift however was very good. Nurses rushing to finish their shift in theatre to hand me over made me feel uneasy. Nurse looking after me rushing me out the door as it was past 8pm. I was worried about leaving as still felt pretty unwel. Overall was not tailored to my needs Surgeon & anaesthetist very good can’t fault them at all. Made me feel very at ease before my procedure.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely wonderful experience! I had a microneedling treatment at this clinic and I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the very beginning I felt truly well looked after and completely at ease. The atmosphere was so warm, calm and welcoming — I felt comfortable, cozy, and deeply relaxed throughout the whole treatment. Selina was absolutely fantastic — kind, professional, gentle, and very attentive to my comfort. She explained everything clearly and made sure I felt safe and relaxed at every step. Thanks to her, the treatment was not only effective but also a genuinely pleasant and soothing experience. I am extremely happy with the results and I will definitely be coming back. I highly recommend this place and especially Selina to anyone looking for professional care and outstanding service. Thank you so much! 💛 Monika

I saw Mr Sahu on Thursday 4th December 2025 I was terrified frightened what was going to become of my eye's. What a man, a gentleman a true professional who took his time to explain in detail what was wrong with my eyes and what could be done to help me. It's going to take time to go through procedures and operations, but at the end of the day if my eyes have been saved it will be entirely down to Mr Debendra Sahu, thankyou Sir. I came to him having experienced years of dismissal and rejection from doctors in the past and he instantly made me feel listened to and supported. Mr El Gohari was able to spot a very small detail during my surgery that gave me an answer and a diagnosis. He was very thorough and explained everything to me with great clarity. Thanks to him, I now have the confidence to fully enjoy my life!

Dr Mikhail prescribed a dose of levothyroxine for my subclinical hypothyroidism which resulted in my subsequent repeated blood tests demonstrating hyperthirodism. I have also developed severe muscle pain. When I contacted Dr.Mikhail he told me to continue with the higher dose of levothyroxine in spite of the blood tests results saying that my muscle pain had nothing to do with the levothyroxine overdose.
