There was a lot of waiting for drops to take effect as part of the treatment but the fact that everytime one of the staff passed they acknowledged you so you didn't feel you had been forgotten, a big plus in my book. There were many times when my DOB and name were checked. This made me feel secure as I think it made me feel that any mix up was very unlikely, another plus in my book. During the set up for the operation I was asked to look into the very bright light. Not a problem for the eye being operated on but keeping my other eye open as requested was difficult for me. Perhaps some form of shading for the other eye could be provided so that the natural instinct to close that eye could be eliminated and thus the natural effect of doing that affecting the eye being operated on. During the operation the surgeon needed to speak to me at times. I am hard of hearing and didn't have my hearing aids in. At times it was hard to hear the surgeon. The issue was worse when the "pump" noise was going. Some of this was the fact that she was a lady with a higher pitch voice, whereas I could easily hear the male voice in the room. I have the same issue hearing my wife for the same reason (I claim!). Perhaps it would be good if the surgeon established if there is a hearing problem and if there is, the voice volume could be raised. I realise that this is my problem but I cannot be unique in this case given the age profile of you patients. This visit was my second eye so I knew what was happening. However, thinking back to my first visit perhaps a slightly better introduction could be given to new patients as to what to expect with the intervals between patient staff interactions to help limit any anxiety they may feel. Also a bit more information regarding the after effects of the operation could help and anxiety at that time. I realise you will wince at this but I found a YouTube video of american origin that went through the after effects step by step and this relieved me as I realised what was happening to me was normal. Overall I was very pleased with the atitude of all the staff I met and the service they provided. Thank you very much.

I attended the Neurology Clinic at Cleveland Clinic, Portland Place London for a second medical opinion (covered by my insurance) and I had ALL medical reports with me. The booking process was straightforward, and the reception team were excellent—very responsive and professional, with great customer service. I also appreciated that the clinic arranged for my MRI images to be transferred ahead of my appointment, so the consultant would have access to my medical history. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with how the consultation itself went. I came with up-to-date MRI scans (completed recently through an NHS neuroscience unit), along with relevant medical reports and test results. However, the doctor did NOT properly review my MRI images, stating they were “bad quality,” and instead suggested I pay privately for repeat MRI scans at Cleveland Clinic London 3Tesla MRI scanner (my all mri's were done on 3Tesla scanners). He also recommended another lumbar puncture, again privately, despite the fact that I have already had one. Overall, I left with the strong impression that the focus was on arranging further paid tests rather than reviewing the information already available and providing a clear second opinion. In the end, I did not receive any meaningful second medical opinion, no conclusions were offered, and I felt I had not been listened to. To be fair, Dr Wallace Brownlee was polite, kind, and his manner was professional. The neurological examination was fine. However, I still left without any explanation or diagnostic opinion, despite no recent change in my clinical picture that would obviously justify repeating tests before offering an assessment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Dr Wallace Brownlee for someone seeking a genuine second opinion.

Mr Sacheen Kumar

I had an excellent experience with Mr Sacheen Kumar as part of a coordinated operation involving three surgeons all completing separate procedures. From the outset, he was highly professional, approachable, and reassuring. He took the time to provide a clear and detailed overview of the procedure he would be performing and patiently answered my long list of questions without ever making me feel rushed. What truly stood out was his commitment to patient care. Mr Kumar went above and beyond to align his schedule with the other two surgeons, working late into the evening, to ensure the operation could proceed as planned. Despite heading off on holiday shortly afterwards, he still made the effort to visit me post the operation over the weekend. This level of dedication and professionalism was greatly appreciated and made a significant difference to my overall experience. I would highly recommend Mr Kumar.

I met Dr Elumalai first at Addenbrookes where he was reviewing all the tests and scans I had received there. He advised that if I had medical insurance he would recommend Genesis Care where the radiotherapy treatment could be carried out immediately rather than wait several months in the NHS queue. Other benefits were the insertion of a spacer gel to protect the rectum and minimise side effects. Also Genesis could provide the latest hormone treatment tablet, Abiraterone, which was not yet available on the NHS. At follow up meetings at Genesis, Newmarket, Dr Elumalai had all the test and treatment details available on his computer and could answer all my questions. He has provided reassurance regarding the long term effectiveness of the treatment and at the last meeting confirmed that my cancer was now in remission.

Alison is very professional and polite. She ensures you are comfortable with your treatment and is readily available to answer any queries you may have. She takes the time to explain the treatment and is very reassuring. She provided a very thorough explanation of my treament and ensured I was suitable for the course of treatments before proceeding. I have had two treatments so far and each visit has been undertaken without any issues. Alison has managed the treatments from start to finish swiftly with no delays or issues. The ease in obtaining and undertaking the treatment has been planned and well thought out. Alison has a very calming, reassuring and approachable manner. I am enjoying the treatments.

Professor Westcott's assistance and guidance to me over the last 7 years in monitoring and treating my glaucoma, can only be described as invaluable. He has done a great deal to explain matters to me in layperson's terms so that I understood exactly why the treatment was as it was. He has also sought second opinions from other specialists within the field on whether I ought to have an operation, and his willingness to seek out a second opinion unprompted also provided me with much welcome reassurance that my medical pathway is the correct one. Dr Salvia is very friendly and made me feel comfortable. She didn’t make me feel rushed and set my mind at rest regarding the issues I consulted her about. She recommended a comprehensive blood test when I told her I was taking iron on my own initiative and explained a dizziness problem and took appropriate action regarding a toenail issue. possibly a fungus. (She called me with the blood tests results within 36 hours). To sum up Dr Salvia is very professional and thorough and it was a pleasure to consult with her.

The case was complex with competing priorities and several consultants from different disciplines involved. Thoracotomy is significant surgery for all involved.
