We opted for private care at UCLH because we wanted the birth experience to be as positive as possible. As a medically uncomplicated patient I felt that I may not receive much attention or time on an overstretched NHS ward. I also had some anxieties around birth (as a healthcare professional myself) and felt reassured to be receiving consultant-led care, from a clinician with whom I was able to build a trusting relationship. Shalini provided exceptional care from 32 weeks pregnancy and after delivery. She got to know me and my partner, and understood our priorities and concerns. I had previously found it hard to make decisions around birth. Shalini provided us with evidence, data and her experience - this empowered us to make our decisions. She spent a lot of time with us and brought great care, empathy and kindness to her practice, as well as her excellent clinical skills. When we had questions, fears or anxieties Shalini was able to reassure us, both with her kindness and her experience and expertise. The care she provides is holistic and individualised - she advocated for me in many ways and empowered me to advocate for myself too. We had an elective caesarean at 39 weeks. The surgery was pain free and crucially for me, I felt confident and safe - something that was not natural for me in approaching birth. Shalini was close at hand to care for us before and afterwards. I made an excellent recovery and have healed extremely well. I recommend Dr Shalni in the strongest terms to mothers and families looking for private care at UCLH. Shalini is passionate about obstetrics, her patients and practising medicine. It is a great privilege to be cared for by a clinician at the top of her field, who clearly cares deeply about her patients.

I highly recommend Miss Masara Laginaf if you are considering any eye surgery. I was apprehensive and nervous when considering Lasek eye surgery, but from the first consultation Ms Laginaf explained the process with such expert knowledge and detail, and was able to answer any questions I had. Most importantly, she was incredibly reassuring and was able to listen and answer all my questions with kindness. From arriving with anxiety about the procedure, I left feeling nothing but excitement! During the surgery, it was clear that Ms Laginaf is highly experienced and an expert in the field. The procedure was done in no time at all, and all the way throughout Ms Laginaf continued to put me at complete ease and reduced any nerves completely. I first contacted Tony Corner for a second opinion, following surgery to fix a proximal humerus fracture of my shoulder. Tony came highly recommended and I found him to be friendly and reassuring. He answered all my questions and explained clearly what could be done to improve my shoulder's mobility. Tony performed an arthroscopic capsular release which was a success and improved my range of motion but the plate which had been fitted elsewhere at the time of the original fracture, was limiting my progress. I was nervous about undergoing further surgery to remove the metalwork but Tony was very positive and reassuring and I decided if anyone was going to do this surgery, I wanted it to be him. Two weeks later, my shoulder feels so much better and the mobility is greatly improved too. I do not have private medical cover but this surgery has made such a difference to me. Thank you, Tony.

I visited Chapter One with my 4 year old child, we both had an appointment with Ashley. The practice is immaculate, beautifully designed and feels more like a luxury spa than a dental practice. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, we were made to feel welcome and relaxed. Ashley was charming, instantly putting us at ease, involving my daughter with everything she was doing and making it a fun experience. With regards to my appointment, Ashley was very informative, ensuring I had time to ask questions and I left assured I was in highly capable hands. All the equipment was state of the art and I now have ultimate confidence in my dental routine. Easily the most professional and positive dental visit I have had, I would thoroughly recommend Chapter One and will be signing up to one of their care plans for my family.

I saw Alex Townsend for a running injury on my foot/ankle via Bupa. He was very professional, provided great care, and was excellent at communicating his thought process as he inspected my injury. He was efficient and determined in getting me the necessary follow ups booked timely when I told him I had an upcoming race. He referred me to Dr. Burdon who was also very professional and provided great care. After our follow up, Alex provided me with useful training resources for foot taping and running. He performed walking and running gait analysis on me. It was insightful to hear his analysis, and it formed the basis for him to refer me for additional foot physio appointments to strengthen my foot and minimize chance of future injuries.

The check up today went really well and I was given reassurance and advice toward looking after my eyes by the thourough Cathedral Eye knowledgeable and experienced staff. The different tests and mannerly handovers following scans etc. from start to finish of appointment are seamless. And the appointment starts so well being welcomed in at the front desk, through too being checked out so that nothing is forgotten from eye drops to appointment times leaving nothing to chance.

Just needed a referral for an overseas routine scan and I achieved what I needed. NHS in their wisdom won't provide scans for those with a strong family history indicator which is fine but utterly absurd not to provide a referral just because a CT machine (superior to most in the UK) is located overseas. These scans can be life savers and it's useful that this provider can fulfil the common sense role that the NHS abdicates responsibility on.

I had a very positive experience visiting the menopause doctor. The only criticism relates to payment policy. I was required to pay the full amount for my next appointment six months in advance, which I felt was a little harsh. I completely understand taking a deposit to secure the appointment - perhaps 50% would be more reasonable - but paying in full so far ahead of time does feel quite steep.
