Mr Farrukh Gillani

Mr. Farrukh Gillani is a Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon based in Highland, specialising in sports injuries and arthritic conditions of the knee. His Elective Orthopaedic practice is located at Raigmore Hospital and the National Treatment Centre Highland in Inverness.

He graduated with an MBBS in Medicine and Surgery in 2004 and also holds a BSc degree. Mr. Gillani completed his Basic Surgical Training in London, obtaining the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS) in 2010. He then undertook Specialist Orthopaedic Training in the East of England, earning the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS Tr&Orth) in 2017. Following this, he completed two fellowships in Merseyside, focusing on knee surgery and trauma. The Knee Fellowship in Wirral covered total and partial knee replacement, ACL/ligament reconstruction, and meniscus/cartilage surgery, while the Trauma Fellowship at a major trauma centre in Liverpool addressed all aspects of simple and complex trauma.

Mr. Gillani’s practice is focused on knee care, emphasising thorough assessment and non-surgical management when appropriate. When surgery is indicated, he performs a wide range of procedures, including arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, ACL/ligament reconstruction, patellar (knee cap) stabilisation surgery, meniscus/cartilage repair, partial knee replacement, and total knee replacement. He has also contributed to the development of the Adolescent Knee Soft Tissue Service in Highland.
