From the initial consultation through to post-operative followup, the care I received throughout my multifocal cataract surgery was consistently professional and well organised. Prior to surgery, the assessment process, treatment options, and expected outcomes were explained clearly and in detail. In particular, the differences between single-vision and multifocal replacement lenses were discussed thoroughly, including the potential benefits, limitations, and suitability for my individual needs. I was given sufficient time to consider these options and to ask questions, which supported an informed and confident decision. On the day of surgeries, the team was efficient, professional, and considerate. The procedures themselves were straightforward and managed smoothly, and I felt appropriately supported throughout. Post-surgical care was structured and attentive. Follow-up appointments were conducted carefully, with clear guidance provided regarding recovery, taking prescribed medication, visual adaptation, and next steps. Any queries were dealt with promptly, and my progress was monitored appropriately. Overall, the combination of clinical expertise, clear communication, particularly around lens choice and considerate care resulted in a positive experience and a very satisfactory visual outcome. I would confidently recommend this practice to others considering cataract surgery.

Recently wanted an MOT to check that my heart was all fine due to having a HA at a young age. I had an ECG and a Stress Echogram procedure prior to my consultation with Mr Wilkinson. I requested to see Mr Wilkinson, as it was him who performed emergency stent procedures on me 14 years ago, and it was really great to see him again after all these years. Mr Wilkinson is top of his field and a very lovely guy. The nurse who performed my tests was really professional and friendly and very helpful. My consultation went very well and put my mind at ease. I went private as I wanted some Piece of mind and the NHS only deal with reactive situations (IE heart attack) and are not interested in supporting people years after treatments unless you have a serious issue. I can 100% recommend anyone looking to book private consultation / tests via Spite hospital. I only have one major gripe… they no longer, and for some time do not take a credit card payment (no longer use a card machine) the reasons were explained, as you can only do a BACS transfer now. I find this very unhelpful and this should be reinstated. If you have lots of spare cash around to complicate then this will not be a problem for you, but for people who use this service and it’s an extra expense, it’s more difficult. I would use Spite more if a credit card service was available.

I was greeted by an amicable, polite & efficient receptionist on arrival and shown to the waiting room where member of the theatre staff would come for me and explain what would happen next. Kate introduce herself and on knowing I have profound hearing loss made sure that I understood everything. She prepared me well with the required eye drops and made sure I understood the process that would happen in theatre. Having escorted me into theatre she introduced me to Mr Shafiq, the surgeon and the other theatre staff. Mr Shafiq is very approachable and explained clearly what was going to happen. During the procedure he talked me through what he as about to do and what I would see. He was very reassuring throughout the whole procedure which took about 10 mins. He explained clearly about the eye pad, the eye drops etc and Kate made sure that I had understood this before she escorted me to the waiting room. Overall, an excellent team and excellent care; even better than I'd expected because of my profound hearing loss.

Dr Darr's decision to perform the complex sinus drainage surgery the way he did, despite it being more complicated, showed great skill and consideration for her long-term health. Dr Darr's bedside manner was outstanding - he took the time to reassure us, answer all our questions, and explain the procedure in a way our teenager could understand. The visit was for a two year review of a revision ankle replacement. I was very pleased to have been able to undertake this just some two or three months after a telephone contact with Mt Shalaby's secretary at St John's. Mr Shalaby was courteous as ever, gave clearly understandable information throughout the conversation. Furthermore, and somewhat unexpectedly, he flagged up a further review around the five year anniversary of the operation. I am, as before, delighted with the result of the intervention and have indeed recommended the process - and Mr Shalaby and his team - to a number of ankly distressed friends and acquaintances.

Ms Labidi was a lovely doctor who operated on my foot and resolved my problem by removing an object with the callous, I had been suffering in a lot of pain for a year and a half before this since since something had got into my foot, even after the anaesthetic had worn off after the operation I had absolutely no pain whatsoever, and my foot has healed in just 1 week and have had no pain since I would like to thank Dr Labidi and Allison and all of the lovely and kind staff who looked after me at Solihull hospital, I am so grateful , many many thanks x

It was a little overwhelming as I was expecting to discuss fitting a coil and whilst that was mentioned, I was advised about having surgery which was unexpected. I found myself agreeing to the surgery despite not knowing much about it. The risks were not explained and I didnt find out how the procedure would be executed or potential recovery time that might be required. I feel a bit confused about whether this is the right course of action or not. I was not pleased to receive a letter that claimed the risks were explained to me, when they were not.

Thyroid blood test. Never been before. Autistic so some challeges : a sign on door to push would have helped, it was intimidating, couldn’t get in straight away. An area with reduced lighting to wait would have reduced my overwhelm, was very close to waiting outside. Became very overwhelmed trying to explain which test I had booked, knew there was a fault on the website. Although the situation was rectified satisfactorily, it was still an overwhelming, triggering experience.

Alex provided a detailed analysis of my gait and took a 3D scan of my foot to create orthoses customised to me. He also clearly explained what was going on with my ankle and how it can get better, having done a number of tests to pinpoint the issue. Highly recommend Alex for anyone struggling with a foot-related sports injury.

9/10 My Sonographer Rima Shah was fantastic, professional and informative. To improve the service i think it would be nice if a cardiologists could quickly glance/look over results and give a brief written note/summary of results/heart health. It is a shame that in order to get a cardiologists insight/reassurance I then have to rebook and pay for an additional appointment.

The doctors and nurses were very helpful on the day of surgery and were extremely friendly, helping to settle my nerves beforehand. They also had me practice using crutches, including going up and down stairs, to make sure I was capable of getting around during the two weeks I was non-weight-bearing.
