Stephen Gordon is an experienced Consultant Urologist and surgeon specialising in modern diagnostic techniques and offers rapid and comprehensive assessment for all urological concerns supported by an excellent administrative and multi-disciplinary clinical team with access to some of the most modern operating theatres and equipment in the UK.
Specialising in the treatment of kidney stones and prostate problems including cancer assessment with MRI and benign enlargement he offers rapid assessment for symptoms or concerns for all urological cancers including blood in the urine and testicular swelling, urinary problems and men's sexual and reproductive health. He grew up in the local area and graduated from St. Bartholomew's Hospital in 1996 and carried out his specialist surgical training throughout the South East of England and London, gaining extensive experience in the management and treatment of all urological conditions. Furthermore, he completed a fellowship at the renowned Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital where he developed his skills for using the most advanced and comprehensive treatment methods for kidney stone disease. He has also trained and taught widely in Europe including London, Paris, Madrid, Berlin and Milan in advanced endourological techniques.
Mr Gordon has led one of the largest kidney stone treatment units in the UK and always ensures that a rapid and accurate diagnosis is provided to his patients and can offer all treatments not always available to other urologists. He is a long experienced expert in using laser treatment, shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) and keyhole surgery for the treatment of kidney stones. He led a team of UK urologists from BAUS advising NHS England on best practice in the treatment of patients requiring acute kidney stone care.
He is regularly on the faculty for the British Association of Urological Surgeons and Royal Society of Medicine for endourology skills and is an advisor for several industry sponsors for product development and testing new to market products.
In 2013 he led the introduction of MRI prostate diagnostic testing for prostate cancer combined with accurate and safe transperineal prostate biopsy techniques using MRI and Ultrasound fusion technology. This led to funding the RAPID prostate diagnostic pathways in South-West London and Surrey. The clinical research and ongoing findings and output from this work has attained an HSJ award in 2018, multiple publications and presentations internationally and most recently the prestigious John Blandy Prize by The BJUI to be delivered at The British Association of Urological Surgeons Annual conference 2024.
He is also highly proficient in Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP), the most effective and durable treatment for prostate enlargement causing poor urine flow and bladder symptoms and to date all men in urinary retention suffering with catheters have had them successfully removed. He will tailor all treatments to individual patient requirements including rapid access to the procedure for patients on long waiting lists and treating both large and small prostates. He also offers ejaculation preserving procedures with excellent results when required. He was one of the first urologists in the UK to use lasers for the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and other minimally invasive techniques for treating urinary symptoms presenting how success rates depend on surgical skills and technique at the American Urological Association 20 years ago. He is fully trained in the pros and cons of devices and techniques including prostate artery embolisation (PAE), iTind, Urolift, Rezum and Aquablation. He has developed his holmium laser technique recognising why patients may consider less well established procedures but also has an ever growing experience of patients requiring HoLEP after TURP and these other treatments.
Finally, Mr Gordon also has an extensive experience of looking after men, often with their partner, struggling with fertility concerns but also men's health and sexual function including the role of sperm quality and the impact on miscarriage. He uses modern sperm assessments such as DNA fragmentation when required as a better measure of sperm quality than conventional semen analysis but also recognises the limits of such tests. He offers personalised and evidence based advice about other diagnostic tests and treatment options addressing both men and their partner's combined concerns to help couples understand what may be available at often very stressful times and often addresses or discovers health concerns that could impact men's health.
His ethos of providing personalised care is supported by his personal assistant and practice manager, Selina, who will assist patients through the complexities of modern healthcare challenges with utmost care and attention and she is commonly highlighted extremely positively in patient feedback.

Professional, quick, clear ,I would highly recommend this doctor
When you need to vivist a Urologist the thing you really need it to be put at ease. Mr Gordon certainly did that
I would like to pass on my grateful thanks to Mr Gordon. I had a HoLEP procedure done by him at New Victoria Hospital in January and have just had the result of my new baseline PSA test: 0.72. I'm now on annual PSA tests arranged by my GP. With best wishes from a satisfied customer!

Thank you for passing this on with the update a few months from your HoLEP. An added value of HoLEP when all of the benign transition zone of the prostate is removed is that the PSA varies less and falls dramatically. A PSA so low is excellent news.
I had a HoLEP operation by Mr Gordon . So pleased I had it done, 3 weeks later the benefits are already evident . It’s a game changer . Ditch the tablets , get the HoLEP done and enjoy the benefits. Thanks Mr Gordon

Thank you for your kind feedback. So many patients are now keen to not start and often stop medicines that in themselves may treat symptoms but not cure the problem or have other side effects. HoLEP will invariably solve the problems and ideally last a lifetime.
Don’t think it can improve. Top notch.

Lost for words. Thank you
