Professor Ben Challacombe is consistently described as a professional, friendly, caring, and clear specialist. Patients praise his expertise in urological surgery, including HoLEP and prostatectomy, often noting successful outcomes and thorough explanations that instil confidence and trust. Some patients mention issues with chaotic back office support and a brusque manner in face-to-face interactions. Overall feedback highlights excellent care particularly for prostate cancer and procedures like HoLEP and robotic surgery.
Pre-appointment administration was a little slow. After cystoscopy a paper towel would have been useful; the relevant area was very slippery in subsequent handling (ie flow test).
My Visit with Ben are always reassuring and i know that I am in the best of care . His support and professional guidance has been throughout the 8 years of my cancer journey. I consider him a friend and i will be forever grateful for his intervention and intuition that saved my life.
Highly professional, giving detailed explanations where necessary,
Mr Ben Challacombe is my father’s consultant. He has been incredibly clear and concise as to dad’s diagnosis. Initially dad was seen by an NHS consultant who delivered a diagnosis of kidney cancer with a boxing glove punch. There was no follow up of any kind. Subsequently I decided to take things into my own hands and made an appointment to see Mr Challacombe. The tests and scans were so much more thorough and provided so much more information. Contrary to the first findings, Mr Challacombe gave us a diagnosis that was far from the death sentence that had been brutally served by the first consultant. He advised for dad to have follow up scans every 6 months which has given dad a sense of security. We no longer feel like we are drifting on a raft at sea. The continuity of care has enabled us to get on with our lives thanks to Mr Ben Challacombe.
Absolutely fantastic service from Ben and the team very caring . 10 star
I have met Mr Challacombe on two occasions. I was very happy with his clinical approach and detailed explanation of various options available for me. I trust his surgical competence in view of the reviews I have seen
Exceptionally professional with warm and clear explanation
Excellent professional friendly and caring Personally
A reassuring professional allowing plenty time to discuss the issues.
Obviously very experienced, but a little brusque in face to face. Excellent at quick response to texted questions (he gave a phone number after my operation).
Ben is an excellent urologist and provides exemplary patient care and is also highly respected not just by me but also within the wider urology community. In addition, having known each other and trained together and shared experiences over more than 20 years I can easily say he is one of a small group of dedicated urologists I can completely trust and recommend without hesitation to friends and family. Professionally, I am certain for both myself and patients that he can be depended upon completely when needed.
