The admissions brochure fails to state that family members are not allowed to stay with patients during the pre-operative wait. This is a significant omission, as it creates avoidable anxiety for patients who are already nervous about their procedure and are only informed of this restriction upon arrival. The pre-op nurses showed poor bedside manner when I asked about this. Instead of offering reassurance, they quoted “hospital policy” and then gave reasons that felt dismissive and inaccurate — for example, claiming that “too many people come in and out of rooms,” when in reality only one nurse completed paperwork, followed later by the surgeon and anaesthetist. I was also told I would be going to theatre “shortly,” even though I knew (correctly) that I would be waiting another 1.5 hours. My family member could easily have stayed with me during that entire period, as is standard in the Ulster Independent Clinic and in my previous NHS experiences. The lack of engagement from the pre-op nurse beyond basic paperwork questions made the situation feel even more uncomfortable. The pods themselves felt more like small, bare cells than a calming space prior to surgery — no TV, no artwork, just two chairs and a table. It was far from a soothing environment. In contrast, the theatre staff and post-op nurses were outstanding. They were friendly, proactive, and reassuring, and they made up for the negative pre-operative experience. One final issue: the staff arranging my discharge medication did not check my notes and prescribed a medication I am unable to take. Because the pharmacy had already closed, the only solution was to remove it from the prescription entirely.

I had a Rhinoplasty here with Lucian Ion. I'm grateful to all of the staff at the hospital for making my stay so comfortable; the room was clean and comfortable, and whenever I needed help the nurses were quick and helpful, plus the food was really good. The surgery and anaesthetic itself went smoothly, and it was re-assuring to talk to both surgeon (Mr Ion) and anaesthetist (Dr Warwick Marchant) beforehand, and then see Mr Ion multiple times after the surgery. When I was soon to be discharged from the hospital I momentarily (for a few minutes) felt very rough; the hospital staff were really friendly and there wasn't any rush to discharge. One thing I did note is that there wasn't always complete consistency between the surgeon and the hospital, e.g. on the admission time, or on how to clean the wounds, so I would suggest trying to improve this (the patient, at least speaking for myself, isn't always a reliable intermediary), however this was a very minor issue.

I came to Mr Amer Raza with suspected endometriosis in which I have been going back on forth with various different doctors for 7 years with no official diagnosis or treatment. He listened to all my concerns and took time to explain endometriosis very clearly to me. He later diagnosed me with deep infiltrating endometriosis after an MRI which he also explained the results in great depth. A few months later I had a robotic assisted surgery performed by Mr Amer Raza and two other consultants which I had met with previously and who were also very knowledgeable in endometriosis. After my surgery Mr Raza explained every step of the surgery with a video and how this linked to all my symptoms and pain. My surgery went really well and I am very grateful that I had Mr Amer Raza as my Surgeon.

The Spire is a very clean and well equipt hospital but with limited parking. However, my last trip to the spire hartswood had an hours delay before I was seen, which isnt ideal. My thoughts on this is if Reform get their way and sell off NHS that private sector is no better equipt to deal with volume than NHS. Tjat daid onve seen I was treated by a lovely nurse Marianne who was very caring and jolly which made yhe appointment a very pmeasurable experience.

Dr Dulay is a truly excellent Rheumatologist. He was incredibly kind, supportive and clear, he really listened to what I had to say, answered my questions, and I didn’t feel rushed in any way. He is clearly very knowledgable in a wide range of ateas and I would recommend him without hesitation. For reference I visited regarding an hEDS diagnosis. Dr Dulay was a breath of fresh air - validating and helpful. The best experience I’ve had with a consultant.

Better signage would help. We wandered around looking for the appropriate location. There are two car parking 4 areas which doesn't help. Luckily we found a helpful Doc who took us to where we needed to be. Once there we were welcomed. I couldn't eat anything after the op, the restaurant didn't have anything for gluten, dairy and egg free patient. I feel sure they could have products on standby for the future, most vegan products would suffice.

I arrived at 9.05 for an appointment at 9.30 am. Checked in and waited approx 3 minutes and was called by Mr Sapare and escorted to his room. After an examination and explanation of my before and after surgery he gave me advice on how to proceed to full recovery. I was back in my companions car by 9.20. I would recommend any one if offered the the chance to attend the Spire Hospital to go and get treated there.

Everyone was friendly and the place clean but one of the receptions in radiology was very load speak so you heard all her conversations and calls clear as day. You are asked to to arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment but I did have to do anything just wait long as I didn’t get in on time and I can only guess they ran late as two people arrived after and went in before me.

I couldn't ask for a better consultation. I was slightly worried that it might not be up to Dr Alice's standard- but both Drs are excellent. Knowledgeable, professional and immediately understand where the patient is coming from. It's not an exaggeration to say that EPD saved my life.
